      Haha yeah, when you don't have a real unicorn to play with, you make the most out of a picture of one on a spinner 😂 the more I teach people on zoom how to use the spinner, the more I realise how it is useful for so many more things than just spinning on. It's more versatile that people think.

      Thanks Coach Mary👍 if only I could get some more space to use it in. I'm 6"1 and kicked my clock off the wall yesterday trying a camel spin.

    Thank you so much for your videos! I've been watching pretty much all of them lately and I've been loving it. I was a little worried that this no-skating time would really hurt my progress but I actually think I'll be much better in my technique and strength thanks to all the off-ice practice! :)
    I was wondering if you know a good exercise for practicing edges off ice? I don't think I saw a video about it, lately I've been trying doing a bit of a one-leg squat, then slowly passing my fully extended free leg right and left. That's kinda just general strength and balance practice though. It seems like it might be harder to replicate off-ice than jumps or spins.

      Thanks for letting me know that you have been enjoying the videos I have been creating 🙂
      Yes, correct off ice training will definitely make you a better skater 👍
      Edges off ice is quite a tricky one, it depends on the level of your skating. It can often be attributed to technique and confidence at the beginning, but at higher level skating it becomes a question of strength and technique. Did you watch my video on forward crossovers off ice?
      The Same contraption can be used to help practice your edges on the floor too.

    Would you try showing the movement with your back to the camera? I can them make sure my arms and legs are in the correct position. I am a much older adult skater and this would help immensely. Thank you!

    I'm a younger male skater here, and I have an incredibly weak core. I want to work my way up to a strong core without overworking and hurting myself too badly, and being unable to work on it. What can I do?

    • @IceCoachOnline
      @IceCoachOnline  4 роки тому +1

      You're not the only one in that position. The best way is to start with some sit ups and back raises 3 times per week. Then start building up and adding more exercises from there as you getting fitter. Don't rush the process and try and do too much too soon - this is when injuries happen. We have a lot of people doing our Zoom skater fitness classes that are in the same position as you 👍

    why not to get a synthetic ice for home?

    • @IceCoachOnline
      @IceCoachOnline  4 роки тому +1

      I'm not a big fan of synthetic ice if I am being completely honest with you. I have done some shows on it, it wears your blades down super fast.

      @@IceCoachOnline I was thinking to buy that from China since the lockdown is getting longer than I thought. Do you think even the self-lubricated, pretty expensive quality synthetic ice also wears the blade really fast? I have the same blade as yours (Goldseal) and the seller told me that the synthetic ice will wear off the blade faster than real ice, but it won't be like ' super fast'. Maybe that's just a marketing pitch? Goldseal is not cheap as we know, so can't afford to buy them every couple month :(
