TL;DR: Don't waste your time. If you want "smart" "cloud" "iot" control of your IR devices, just get a Harmony Hub.

Did you update the ihc (Intelligent Home Center) app with latest version? There was a bug about asking location in prior version.
TY Pien When was the update? This video was filmed yesterday (05/06/2018) and as of then I'd tried both the most recent version from the Google Play store as well as several older version APKs I found online. Same problem with all of them.
The reliable/stable old version 1.9.7.4325 does NOT have the location issue at all. The newer fixed version is 1.9.8.4620-2.6.3. Try the old version if you can. Make sure you turned off the 5Ghz signal from your router for temporary, and make it really close to the router to set it up. Make sure the blue LED is quick blinking (2~3 times per second, if not, use a pin to reset. Press & hold for 10 seconds while plug it in a micro-USB power) After login to ihc, tap "+", "Add device", then "Add device by category" (don't use camera/bar code), tap "Universal Remotes", tap "RM mini 3"... After installed it, tap system settings, tap "Apps", find ihc, then you can take all the permissions away. IHC does not need any permission to run.

I'm torn between running it over with my car, returning it, or waiting for a confirmed working version of the software. For now, I've picked up a Harmony hub, but I may revisit this device in the future.

You r welcome. For me, it works that it can be voice controlled by Alexa and/or Google Home after set it with ihc.
Video made me laugh... good 1. I ordered two before watching, and luckily managed to get them working.
I can't do the harmony hub. i have two of them already and you can't use two on the same network unless you hack them. Apart from that, the Harmony hub has issues of it's own. That is not a good resolution. I would factory reset the device and start over or hack it

They should have added Location permissions, but if they don't, you can add/review the permissions in the App Settings
i have one think its great controlling my tv and sky box with google home it justs takes you to know how to set it up had harmany hub did not like at all
I had same experience, but now i know why !!! You need to switch your wifi from 5G to 2.4G for it to work
Yep and after you set up your devices you switch it back to 5g and it will still work 👌🏽but must be setup on 2.4 only

I got this yesterday, installed it with some serious trial and error, and it won’t learn any remotes at all. I’ve tried 5 or 6 or remotes and although it does seem to switch to learning mode and the app shows the learning pop up, nothing happens when I press a button on a remote and the learning pop up times out quits. Horrible pos.
They just did a update try to do it again all my stuff works today after it stopped around thanksgiving

Did you try China in the location selection? For some reason many Chinese products "refuse" to work if the country selection is not China. One of the infamous brands for that is Xiaomi and their smart products. You have to select Mainland China to make it work haha.
I think I did try changing countries at some point, my memory and rage for this device are a bit fuzzy in the months since I made this video.
I've been thinking about giving the device another shot, but I seem to have misplaced it, and my Logitech Harmony Hub has been working flawlessly for what I need so it hasn't been a huge priority. I'll definitely give that a shot if I ever find it again. Thanks for the comment!
@@TheUgster Well if you do give it another chance hopefully this time the app has been updated because latest reviews all say how easy and well it's working. There are even some UA-cam videos showing the setup. Mine is about to come this week so we shall see if it's still bad or they improved the experience lol.
I have one too but unfortunately the user defined learning doesnt work on any device. the only appliance that worked is my TCL TV. The latest IHC app doesnt work properly. The only device that worked was their plug. So working it with Alexa is a pain. I just use e-Remote. Tuya's support is better.

It's frustrating as F but not impossible. Some tricks ..make sure your phone is logged into a slower band on your router. The one without the _5. Often your phone may use the faster speed. Then When you have the device hunt for wifi make sure it also is on the slower speed. BOTH MUST BE ON SLOWER BANDWIDTH. The device only accepts the slow speed and you phone must be matching for the setup. Then don't put the device in it's quick blink mode until the APP starts it's countdown looking for it.
Sorry 230am. Futzed with it for a few hrs. Some of my nagatives ... Air conditioner shows in C degrees only in app. AC doesn't work with audio or Google. Must is it in IHC app only. Anyone can help with this or do I just live with it? At least I can turn the AC on from work now. The TV works on same Mini RM but let's me associate with Google Assistant.
