Muscle snatch is still my favourite learning tool when starting weightlifting. No other exercise helps me as much to mimic the shape of the lift, focusing on the bar moving upwards and body working around it to help it move vertically and close to the body, basically just extending. With every other variation and teaching tool I can find a way to be too fast or make horizontal movement in the wrong place or do something else weird, but muscle snatch with no contact no feet is so simple and straight forward, it removes the distraction points like knees and hip contact. For beginners it's surprisingly unfamiliar experience to just extend your body fully.
Very helpful. Thanks! I started doing the muscle snatch to improve my muscle clean before a strict press, when my best press got above 100 kilos and I felt the need to become a more efficient puller (and reduce soreness in my biceps -- lol). The muscle snatch is very useful and safe for non-competitive lifters like myself who train at home with iron plates (I can't drop the bar). It's also very healthy for shoulders and arms as I mostly do this lift for lighter sessions.
Yes, it would be helpful for me to see the motion/mechanics in slow motion. Snatch/muscle snatch, clean&jerk, clean/snatch pull. If possible for future :) Thanks a lot!
Thank you for the great depth of your videos. AFAIK, you are the only top-level Olympic weightlifter who finds the time and energy to sharing his experience.
That was a really clear explaining of the logic behind why muscle snatches are used - I learned something new today! Ever Day is a school day! I’ll keep an eye open for more technical videos. 👍
Hi, Gabriel! Will you be doing a contact muscle snatch video? For me it is easier to do it without contact because with contact I cut the pull and start doing like you say "muscle clean+press". It would be great to have a video of you performing classic muscle snatch (with contact). Stay safe!
Can you please do a video in which you slowly show the execution of important points you make in this video? Thank you so much. (For example I did not quite understand the point you make about doing the turnover with wrists .. Can you please show us the wrong version and correct version ?)
Hi Gabriel i got 2 questions about muscle snatch with no contact 1)sometimes when you perform it you start with your hips sett in a higher position than a normal snatch, is this your personal style ? Or the position of the hips in start position doesnt matter a lot in this exercis ? In which way a beginner should do that ? Thanks Gabriel for the awesome content as usually 🙏
Hi Gabriel! just want to ask but to learn Clean, is front squat and power clean a good requisite for the strength fundamental? Thank you! And also thank you for the muscle snatch tutorial! gonna try it out on my next workout sessions with the empty bar just to know how it feels like.
@@gsincraian Thank you for the reply Gabriel! Gonna try to learn how to do a clean properly, but just wondering have you uploaded any clean tutorial yet? I might missed it but I'm just gonna ask it just in case. I know that there's quite alot of youtubers who already upload video on how to clean, but I would like learn from your perspective on how to do it. Once again thank you, and hope you have a good and safe day!
its cool to see a big max w/ muscle snatch BUT THATS NOT THE POINT of doing them ... they are really for accessing AGGRESSION whereas accessing DYNAMIC quality using contact boost and rebend is what power sn is for then full ADVANTAGE squatting deep for full technique sn is the ultimate combo
I love your channel Gabriel but damn you could be frightening as a trainer 😊 I don't think you mean to look so fierce, in fact your channel shows you really care for people but you have a stern look sometimes!! If you said to me do a 1000 squats, I would do them out of fear!!!
More content like this please. It is usually amatuers who give advice on exercises. I don't want amatuers to teach me I want the olympians.
@@gsincraian words cannot express how appreciative I am for your new app and your advice. Thank you sir.
This video is a gem. Thank you Gabriel for helping us focus on the essentials of the weightlifting.
I have been struggling doing muscle snatch for some time. I ll give it another shot tomorrow.
good luck, let me know how will go
@@gsincraianit went way better. Keeping my elbows high and turning over above waist really helped!

Thanks for the advice on the turnover using the wrist.

@@gsincraian I will now start using lower weights to keep elbows high for the muscle snatch. Hopefully it will improve my snatch third pull.

So it's better to practise empty bar muscle snatch for good technique first before adding in the hip contact?
Great video
is the no hookgrip or straps a must?
Gabriel, do you use the muscle snatch to warm up for every snatch session?
thanks!

What is the ideal percentage of muscle snatch compared to the snatch?

I think it's a mistake do edit out all the pauses. Constant talking is harder to follow than natural talking.
