Hey mate, great video and channel! I am also a sim/real golfer albeit a high handicap one, and I use the Garmin R10. Subscribed and look forward to your future content 👍
Such a great video! This is a very impressive build at a budget price. My question is about the cheap Lowe's turf. Does it really simulate an actual putting green? I'm hoping to add some realistic pudding without spending a grand on high-end turf.
Thank you for checking it out. The Lowe’s turf is surprisingly good. Especially once you attach it to the gym mats it has that softer feel. It runs at about 10 on the stimp from what I can tell and it’s fairly smooth. It’s not going to be a $1000 putting green-type of smooth but it allows me to putt in sim rounds comfortably. If you wanted to raise the hitting area and add a cup, it would be a decent training aid. I actually used this same turf to build a putting green at my previous house and I used it daily. For an extreme budget option it’s better than some of the other options out there.
Awesome video! Thank you for doing this. A few questions I have. 1) You did not mention golf balls used. I assume the Calloway RPT balls? 2) From the video, I did not see overhead protection. From 8', I would think wedges would go above the impact screen or at least some of the time? 3) do you experience chipping issues under 10 yds and do you experience disconnects? Thank you....
Hey thanks for the response and the great questions. Unfortunately I did have to partially summarize although it seemed like I was rambling forever 😂 I can probably dedicate an entire podcast to this stuff. I will go further in depth with most of these topics and actually already have a few of these answered in my previous videos. I use the ball dot stickers but yes, the dots/RPT balls are necessary for accurate spin/spin axis. The dots work incredibly well and I can use my preferred ball. Since I’m 8ft from the screen, 8’ has never given me issues. My safety net maxes out at around 8.5’ and the closest I’ve come is about a foot from the ceiling on a flop. I can hit my 58° full with no issues. But most would be comfortable with some additional ceiling protection. As for chipping, I have a video put out on my fix for that. It helps with a stable Bluetooth connection and seems to prevent lost data transferred between the LM and gspro. I still have the occasional no-read on chips but I am actually getting chips to read that fly as short as 6 feet. It’s about a $20 fix for a Bluetooth extender sitting next to my unit. When I use the rapsodo app, I do not get disconnects. It seems to be internet related. When I use gspro, I might experience a disconnect once every 3-4 hours but it’s as simple as hitting “connect” on the springbok connector and we’re back up and running. I’m very open about the chipping in my lives and at the end of the day, I prefer the occasional no-read to severe misreads that I had with the skytrak+
Thank you so much for this brother. Best DIY HGS video I've seen by far. Would love to play a round with ya when I get mine going. Easy W for ya but still be fun!!! lol
@@PhillyPhenomGolf win or lose is no matter. I enjoy the company when I play! That’s why I’m always looking for others with gspro. It’s a ton of fun to play online. Works well. @@UnrealGolfSandro your the man bro I was hoping you would say that. Be fun having someone to play and compete with. Try and give u a run for your money. I'm getting there. Lol
Not at all. I’ll have to make a video and go more into depth on the topic but from what I’ve gathered, it’s all internet specific. My internet and device is great and I have no disconnects when I use the app. App works great on my iPad but runs slow on my iPhone. I mostly use my rapsodo with gspro software connected to my pc, and Bluetooth seems to be the most stable out of every connection. Connects quick and stays connected. So for me, I run gspro for the great graphics and ball physics but also because the Bluetooth connection makes disconnects virtually non-existent. I have the occasional disconnect when running gspro (maybe once every 3 sessions) but it’s as simple as hitting “connect” on the springbok connector and I’m back up and running in about 10 seconds. To me, it doesn’t ruin the experience. I actually had more connection issues with my skytrak+ ($3200) before I switched to the mlm2pro!
Great video and fantastic setup. Being a 1 handicap I'm sure you wouldn't hit too many stray shots but with that setup effectively in your living room it would be pretty risky playing with high handicaps, novices and kids wouldn't it?
@@boojiboy2275 that’s a great concern. I’ve had several high handicappers give it a try (like, really bad players 😅) and to my surprise, the worst shot was a topped 3 wood that went nearly straight up and yet, no ceiling contact. A few shanks have hit the shank wall but none have hit the drywall. My shanks don’t even leave the screen. I’d definitely recommend increasing the width of the shank wall for more comfort and possibly adding some ceiling protection. It’s all personal preference of course but you do want to feel comfortable swinging in the sim.
@@Kell-v4o that’s awesome! You’ll love it. I’m on a long job right now and I’m itching to get back home just to play 😅 pretty much all the parts/products are in the description of this video! If there’s anything you have questions on, don’t hesitate to ask 😁
@@boojiboy2275 you’d be surprised at how little you actually need! My shanks usually stay on the screen even being offset to the right. My friends have used the shank wall but I don’t think the drywall has really been at risk. But the larger the protection, the more comfortably one can swing. It took me a bit to have trust in playing a draw but now I don’t think twice about hitting any club
@@edge21str yeah 8ft is low. My last house has 8ft ceilings. I didn’t even feel comfortable with a 7 iron so I scrapped the idea until I moved. From now on any time I move, the requirement is tall ceilings. I think minimum has to be 9.5’ to be comfortable
Yeah it definitely can. I change the aspect ratio to fit the impact screen size so it’s 1600:1200 I think. Then I just put it on very high/ultra depending on if I’m streaming, recording, or how demanding the course is. Most courses are not demanding but some designs have tens of thousands of trees and it can affect performance. Thank you for stopping by again and for commenting!
How high does your ceiling need to be. I know they usually say ten ft. And I see you have a sloped ceiling. Wondering how high it is where you have the projector. Looks lower then 10 but hard to tell
Question, how did you get GSPro to work with your rapsodo MLM2Pro? I have been looking in to trying this, but I did not think that Rapsodo MLM2Pro was supported with GSPro. Thank you!
@@PackTBE thank you for watching. It works and it works well. In my opinion it’s the best way to use the mlm2pro because the Bluetooth connection is so stable. I’ll refer you to triple bogey’s video on the setup but it’s a simple download of a 3rd party connector. I’ve got a video coming out in a bit here today referencing the connection process and how easy it is! Check out triple bogey’s vid! ua-cam.com/video/ov2vLTtnCQ4/v-deo.htmlsi=-Zxng6a8umlyRo9z
@@geeksquad7374 great question. Depends on which device I’m recording with that day haha. It’s louder than a more expensive screen. The first screen I had was heavier, by go-sports and it made less noise and less bounce back with the ball. Not much different overall (it’s always going to be loud indoors) but I noticed a slight difference when I switched to this screen
Rapsodo connects to the pc via Bluetooth and there’s a simple download of a 3rd party connector that reads the data from the unit and sends it to gspro. Works flawlessly and a good majority of Rapsodo, Garmin r10 and mevo+ users use it. It’s called the “springbok connector” and it also allows you to putt if you have a webcam!
Thank you for watching! And that’s the most difficult part. Results may vary but it’s always important to emphasize that projectors are like home theaters! 😂
Yes exactly. I missed that small detail. Just flip the mat around, trace the strip and try to make it as straight as possible. The hitting strip should fit in nice and snug.
@@UnrealGolfSandrosurely will. I appreciate it that. I live in MO so I’m planning for the winter time and setting it up in the garage. I’ve got 8ft 2in ceiling in the garage so in cutting in close in space. I like your idea of the mat a lot. The video i was looking at before the dude was recommending like a $1400 mat because of “back problems”.. so I wasn’t sure. Also might have to do a 60” TV on the side instead of a projector. Haven’t decided if I want to stream from my iPad or hook up my spare gaming desktop with a NVIDIA 3070. Will definitely hit you up.
@@rigoalhn1 definitely close on space. Even if you can’t hit driver you’ll still thoroughly enjoy it. That guy was right, the mat is extremely important. But it’s the hitting strip that can prevent elbow, shoulder, back pain, etc. if you find the mat I recommended isn’t sufficient, the popular ones like country club elite are still only around $80 if you just get a strip. I don’t find the cheap stance mat to be a problem and I have zero pain after 6 months with my setup. I don’t see the need for crazy expensive flooring otherwise, unless if just for looks. And if you go with the rapsodo, try their app out before deciding on additional software. It’s great for practice and game improvement and the courses are probably 6/10 for immersiveness. But if you really want that “wow” factor of a simulation software, you’ll want gspro. And that’s what truly takes the mlm2pro to the next level. I didn’t have a projector for a couple weeks after my initial cheap one broke and myself and a couple friends still enjoyed gspro, just by looking at a 27” monitor after each shot. So there’s definitely no need to start out with the impact screen and projector. In fact a net is so much quieter than an impact that you might really like it.
I have the MLM 2 Pro and my space I have is 16 feet. The accuracy is poor with higher ball speeds. Its safe to say you should have more then 8 feet of ball flight, you need at least 11 feet of ball flight.
@@saythavisone3686 I would contact support if I were you. I’m not sure what you consider a high ball speed but I max out at about 168 and it reads just fine. I’ve had a player with a 190 ball speed on my setup with no issues and I just played 36 without a single misread. My setup is 8ft ball to screen, and 7 ft ball to unit. The shorter distance doesn’t seem to affect me. Like I said, I think it’s worth contacting support. If you have a defective unit they will fix it.
Just curious is there an option without the webcam for putting? Like I’ve played the top golf and stuff and you “chip close for a putt “ is that possible with this setup? Or is there any other options or is webcam the only way or best way to?
@@chadandtyler autoputt is the common one. Takes all putting out of the equation. GSPRO is great because you can set the gimme ranges. Default is 10ft for a 1 putt, 30 (I think) for a 2 putt, anything else is 3. There’s also a randomizer where you make putts off a percentage and you also have the option to choose your putt. I’ve seen people get creative with that too. But most people don’t putt in general! They say it’s too tricky to judge (which I agree) and prefer auto putt because it makes the game flow better. Having any more than 2 people in the sim can get annoying when everyone’s spending more time putting than getting on the green. Gspro is the official software for the Sim Golf Tour and they have an autoputt tour to accommodate everyone, if tournaments are your style.
Are you using it in a garage or somewhere where it might have concrete or metal interference? I’m set to to 8’ as well and I really don’t have any discrepancies. Interference is huge with radar units. And it’s being addressed in the newest update
@@UnrealGolfSandro concrete basement. Im going to work on covering some concrete in front of the unit. I used it today with more distance from ball to screen and it seems to be pretty decent. I think in need more lighting as well.
@@momstercrossfire definitely try to cover that concrete. @@metal_mo tell me about it! She still has yet to hold it against me. Must be real love!
Hey mate, great video and channel! I am also a sim/real golfer albeit a high handicap one, and I use the Garmin R10. Subscribed and look forward to your future content 👍
Cheers! I checked out the channel and subbed. I’ll keep an eye out to stay updated on the r10. Thank you for watching as well
Such a great video!
Let's Gooooooo!!! This is a dope video bro!!!

Would love a tutorial on how to connect the MLM2 with GSPro. I'm having issues
@@LucasPhillips-t9g sure! What issues are you having/ where are you getting stuck?
Love it man. Does the Rhapsodo give you issues with disconnecting very often?
I’m convincing my parents and to help me build this do you have a list of every material you used? I would really appreciate it thank you so much!
@@Kell-v4o that’s awesome! You’ll love it. I’m on a long job right now and I’m itching to get back home just to play 😅 pretty much all the parts/products are in the description of this video! If there’s anything you have questions on, don’t hesitate to ask 😁

@@LastTrueSouL all you need is 3k and a dream 🤣 you got this
@@UnrealGolfSandro getting the 3k is the dream 😂
Lol the shank wall is essential. I think I'd need mine extending further back than yours? 😮 😂

@@UnrealGolfSandro you too. I hope this video gets the attention it deserves!
My main problem is low ceilings. Anything less than 8 ft and it's just a matter of time until you punch a hole in the ceiling with a long iron.
I'm surprised you aren't running at 1440? I feel like your PC should be fine no? It's a really cool setup! Thanks for the tour.
What is the noise like coming off of that budget screen? Some shots you showed sounded pretty quiet and others sounded really loud!
How did you connect the rapsodo to a PC?
Rapsodo connects to the pc via Bluetooth and there’s a simple download of a 3rd party connector that reads the data from the unit and sends it to gspro. Works flawlessly and a good majority of Rapsodo, Garmin r10 and mevo+ users use it. It’s called the “springbok connector” and it also allows you to putt if you have a webcam!
Great build! I think everyone could use an instructional video about how you talked your wife into a living room golf sim. 😂😂
Thank you for watching! And that’s the most difficult part. Results may vary but it’s always important to emphasize that projectors are like home theaters! 😂
Yes LOL I have to build mine in the garage
So did you cut a rectangle in the 4x5 mat to put the insert in?
Yes exactly. I missed that small detail. Just flip the mat around, trace the strip and try to make it as straight as possible. The hitting strip should fit in nice and snug.
@@UnrealGolfSandrosweet! Thanks for all the tips man!
@@rigoalhn1 you got it! If you need any other help or need a brain to pick, let me know.
@@chadandtyler thank you for the question! I’ll go more into depth with this topic in a video soon. Putting gets asked about a lot

My mlm2pro carry distances are way off. I’m hitting into a net. I have about 8’. Not sure about this unit.
And you shouldn’t need more lighting (even without me knowing how much you have now), the unit uses infrared cameras so it actually thrives in the dark. Watch out for interference from any portable fans as well. I hope it continues to be a good option for you. I’m loving mine and I’m picky
@@UnrealGolfSandro yeah I’m starting to find that out. My question though is, how much and where does the concrete need covered? Does it need something thick over it?
