Actually very impressed with how snappy the data loads and the putting has been great. 2. The native golf app within square........leaves something to be desired. I did not see an option to adjust which tee boxes I wanted to play as well as many other options that are pretty out of the box in other software. And the MINI MAP. Lord where do I start with this. It's terrible. You cannot select specific locations on the hole and get what distance is it. Example, I can't click a fairway bunker and it tell me how far it is. You can't interact with the mini map at all. I am sure they will update this, but doesn't really seem like someone who really knew golf created these settings. Having said that, the graphics are great. 3. I do feel the spin is a little underestimated. I have been trying to hit huge cuts and rope hooks and it doesn't QUITE register the amount of spin I would expect from those shots. Again - can be updated I am sure. 4. I have no issue with the pricing structure whatsoever. At face value - sure it can seem a little sketchy the way they market "no subscription." But it's technically not. If you just want to use the range, it's free. If you use GSPro or E6 (pending integration), you have no cost to you from Square. Based on my public school math, if you wanted to play one round of golf every day for an entire year it would cost about $130. Seems pretty reasonable to me given some of the costs of other subscriptions. 5. The main reason I moved from my R10 (which I still have) to this model, was because of the technology. Garmin and Rapsodo use doppler in their hardware, which is problematic when you have other things around you. For instance, I have a heated garage and when it kicks on, my Garmin stops working completely. Obviously, this is not ideal during the winter. 6. I had HUGE issues with short chip shots with my Garmin. It would not register anything under 10 yards basically (assuming the club speed was too low for it to pick up). I have not experienced this with the Square at all. Overall: I am sure I will continue to discover more as I use the Square, but I much prefer it to the Garmin (especially factoring in the putting). As the software continues to develop and they get more consumer feedback (which they seem receptive to), this product will only get better. And for $700, it's definitely worth a shot. I love that the home sim market is getting more products in this price range. Unfortunately, I’m a left and I often play with right handed golfers so the square golf sim is a no go for me. I currently own a garmin r10 and I’ll be sticking with it
Great content thanks. My exputt is arriving in the next few hours. I watched a lot of reviews but what would be good is an accuracy test of face and path if that is possible and it would be great to see if you could measure distance accurately. Can you use it outside and take the foam roller off and hit 40 & 50ft putts and measure how far the ball actually travels on a real green?
More videos like this!! I have been looking at launch monitors for a few months here for a home simulator setup and I think the square is the direction I’m gonna go. Would love to see some gameplay of their simulator courses
I'm sure we all want to see more reviews done on this launch monitor. If they can integrate awesome golf you'd have a nice sweet unit with no fees. It can only get better.
I think it's important to ask when comparing against others like Garmin is do you want to chip or putt... If not then sure the others are an option. I have Garmin and looking for smaller area in garage and better chipping. Can't wait to order ASAP.
Squar golf is a UK web site that does not allow you to pick USA county. Product they list simspace is identified as a Fake web site with AV software. Another site golf swing systems in UK. Say product will I cure additional charges or duties . Too many red flags and no USA vendor. Very skeptical
I don't mind the pay as you go format as opposed to the subscription. I also don't mind a lifetime unlock option for X amount of dollars. It would be nice if this company offered both of those options. It would make a lot of people happy and in in most cases the company would probably make more $$ from those who may never move past the first 55+ rounds.
would love to see a video on Club data. Also, would be nice when you could have a little test using foamballs with it for the group with confined space and no enclosure.
Well good information here. One very important question was answered or made clear, we cannot use outside. Personally, I want a monitor I could use primarily outside, and secondarily inside.
I like the pay as you go. I rarely use my indoor sim when the weather is nice. So I will spend less with this option that a few hundred a year. Even with the occasional friends coming over. Plus my friends made a "thank you" jar where they toss in a little cash here and there to help with upkeep, upgrades, and other stuff like this.
Definitely want to see club data.... If that works hand in hand with ball data maybe it would clear up some of the inconsistencies you mentioned 🤔 just a thought
I’m curious. After you’ve reviewed the Square and MLM2Pro, which would you buy? Golficity recently posted a video on building a home golf simulator with the MLM2Pro…would you buy that LM again, or go with the Square?
I look at some of these subscriptions 100+ a year for golf course. If I'm not playing every weekend that's ton of money to waste. Where $20 will get me 55 rounds, or 4 players 13 rounds. But what I like the most is the club and ball data which the club data is normally extra you have to pay or even a subscription. After looking at all the rest which many devices if you want everything you're paying a bucket load, I'll most likely get this.
I understand that this device is intended for indoor use only. Does that just mean it can't have direct sunlight on the device? I have an outdoor simulator under my carport. While I don't get any direct sunlight, I certainly do get indirect light. Just wondering if this would be a problem.
Is there a protective cage for the square? Wouldn’t want to hosel-rocket blast it out of existence. I have a Garmin r10 but my space isn’t ideal for it. Really interested in this for the benefit of a smaller room requirement, but worry about destroying it right out of the gate.
As someone who demand high accuracy on ball data, square golf is a no go for me. But I hope they will improve the firmware, perhaps in a year this has become a more mature product
I might still have to get this one to use it outside but only use it in the shade. Seems like it's got a good edge over the Skytrak OG to make it worth the risk now that this is proven to work with GSPro.
I'd prefer them just charge $100 or $200 more for the device than having a credit system. It's like BMW charging you to use your heated seats. That being said it's great to see this technology becoming more affordable. If this machine is good at reading putts it's a game changer.
Seems like every time a new launch monitor comes out it’s always a waiting game for it to get better. The concept of a launch monitor is nothing new. I don’t get why a company can’t just nail it for the majority of people that just want to hit balls at home for a reasonable price without the BS. I’m an MLM2PRO user and went through the BS it’s finally at a point with a Bluetooth connector with GSPro I’m having a solid experience. Really been eyeing the eye mini lite but not sold yet.
majority of people that want to hit balls (aka driving range) or do you mean play courses? The majority of keen/avid golf sim users want to play on GSPro (basically the gold standard for golf sim software and courses), so once 3rd party agreements are finalised, its going to be an awesome deal
Did you have any issues with any of these 3 tracking shots consistently? I had a Skytrak and got rid of it because when using it in GPT I would get 2 holes in and the shots would stop tracking and I'd end up re hitting 10 times. I am starting to have that same issue with my MLM2 Pro when using Awesome Golf. It's super annoying and would love to find a monitor that doesn't have this issue, or has it significantly less frequent.
If they do get 3rd party connection with GSpro or something, without an increase in cost, that would be a game changer. The credit system really isn't too bad. With a group of 4 people, based on the cost of credits: about 13 rounds of golf for $19.99, which equals about $1.50 per round of 4 players. This can easily last you a month for $20. If you were to buy into the $2k+ range systems that also have a $200 + subscription a year fee, your system would already be 4 or 5 years old before you even start to break even on cost, playing golf constantly/Every day, over the cost of square golf. That being said, I am holding out for the 3rd party connect fee, because that is the game changer.
The problem with this model and any that are subscription based is that prices will go up. I have no interest in paying to play a round of golf in my home. It’d be like paying 20 cents every time you wanted to play Madden. It’s ridiculous!
@@fastname91 yup, and I bet that's where they will hit you with the subscription. No way they offer that for free. If that's the case, then I would much rather buy a more premium launch monitor like the unikor.
Now that I know it is made by exputt. I want to add something. They can be very slow to update. The exputt has received one update this year and it was minor. It received 1 or 2 last year. You can see this on the main menu when you start it up. They also have missed a big opportunity to make exputt open source or have an API that would allow you to add putting to other monitors(There are work arounds). Don't get me wrong I really like the Exputt but those are my only two complaints. I think this is because they are a small company and probably have a small dev team which is why I think they should really look to have apis for both the square and exputt. One question how do you get more balls, and/or is there a template so you can use your own balls?
The disparity in subscription is huge, especially for those playing sim with friends. The $200 dollars a year for the MLM gets you 138 rounds with 4 buddies on the square. I’m not playing that much each year.
Think I found a hack for anyone using the Garmin R10. Use a regular golf ball and duct tape on the face of the club. I use a regular ball to warm up and yes the spin, distance, height etc. are off. To see where I hit on the face of the club, I'll use duct tape. Found out my club details were the same as using my RCT balls with duct tape on the face of the club. Please, let me know if I'm all wet. I use Garmin R10 - 7 ft. behind hitting area, 12 ft. from hitting area to the net and use Awesome golf software. No need to buy RCT balls?
I also emailed them on this. The reply was that at the moment, club head speed is not scheduled to be added. However, they said they would inform head office that users are requesting this feature, and hope it will be included in a future update. It's certainly not ruled out therefore and if enough people ask then hopefully it can be implemented.
I wonder how the introduction of 3rd party software connections will affect their pay as you play model.... its in their best interest to not have 3rd party softwares unless they jack the base price of the unit significantly or create a subscription to unlock 3rd party software which we all dont want....
agree. they could create another currency/tokens that costs more to play 3rd party holes or something. would incentivize people to play the included courses for cheaper, or play other 3rd party courses for more money
I have Rapsodo first version and PRGR for my indoor set up and both always read about 40-50 yards short and anything past 7 iron never goes higher than 140 yards, even 3 wood and driver lol. Club head speed is 30+mph slow. I wonder if this Square launch monitor would be accurate with the cameras. It is a pretty basic set up...giant black net with large range mat. I don't understand what the problem is
surprised that your PRGR is that inaccurate. all the videos on youtube suggest its one of the most reliable devices for club and ball speed - maybe not so much Carry and Total because it doesnt measure other important factors such as spin etc.
I have the same problem indoors however when I use it outside it can show the driver distance of over 300 yards. May be there is an issue with picking up some data in closed environment. Its something we should ask PRGR manufacturers. Or may be its something to do with balls. I don't know but would like to find out.
@@matipenny is the club and ball speed accurate tho? PRGR isnt supposed to have accurate carry and total distances. Also are you selecting the right club on the device?
@@fastname91Yes, I am selecting right club. I hit my 7 iron over 160 yards but prgr never showed more than 120 (that’s inside) When hitting on the range everything seems fine.
@@matipennyI might remember someone saying they either used wrong balls or didn’t have the proper device selected (ie net or screen), also if it’s a screen it needs to be an impact screen.
I’ve lost interest in the video you’re comparing accuracy to something other than trackman and GC squad. Look the accuracy of either that good or it’s not and if it’s not, how is it?
@@Golficity perfect, was going to build a home sim, but due to limited space, i might save up money to buy this Launch Monitor to bring with me to the range when I go, i typically go during the night time so no direct sunlight would get into the cameras
Garmin R10 is absolutely trash. I bought this before the Square Golf Launch Monitor and sent it back the very next day. I can highly recommend the Square Golf LM and has given me very accurate results including shot shaping!
Correction It doesn’t read - it calculates… it will give you in out club path data which is the main predictor of side spin issues. SURE if you are trying to practice a very specific exact shot shape then you may need more BUT if you are hitting over 80 and trying to work on things - it’s fine… you don’t need to spend thousands on a launch monitor when you should spend that money on lessons
Gotta say this has been the best experience ever for launch monitor setup and use. I have used the GC3, R10, Golfzon and they all had issues getting constant connection but the Square Golf just works. No configuring it was instant with my old laptop. And chipping practice was awesome. The others when hitting chips it was like the fringe was made of velcro and the ball didn't release as expected but the Square Golf reacts as expected. I LOVE THIS THING as it is great experience for the $$ by far the best for home golfing experience.IMHO.
No WAY on the credits thing. I often have 3 and 4 buddies playing at once. That is insane. The garmin has the best deal. Awesome golf is super cheap and you get 5 free courses and driving range on e6.
The most important info. about this device is that it’s for indoor use only! If I’d known that I wouldn’t have wasted my time watching your first video and this one!
Problem is - it’s STILL pay to USE… it’s just a slightly different model. It’s a lot cheaper than the rapsodo though so that’s good but I also just want to play GSpro. Unfortunately to me this is still just another greedy company (they don’t loose money on the hardware folks).
I confirmed with Square that they will be working on getting 3rd party connection to GSPro. No timeframe provided though. They are currently focused on getting E6 first and GSPro will be the next target
It is $0.36 cents per full round of golf per person. If you play 6 full rounds a week that's $112 per year. Start a launch monitor business and show us how it's done. Build it and sell it for the same price with a full suite of software. People jumping to call companies greedy when they have zero idea about the finances of said company is just childish. Not to mention, you seem to want to hold onto your cash with a tight grip! Get as much as you can for as little as possible, there's a word for that.....
As for distance disparities for new hardware, the Garmin R10 was horribly inaccurate until its first major update months later. NOT the same price range with Garmin R10 ($495) or Rapsodo MLM2PRO ($500). First, the price for the Square is NOT $699. It's $666 (the mark of Satan). They do this price so the 20% VAT makes it $799. Second, it's NOT $799... It's $799 British pounds or $1075 US dollars. But NOT in the US as that includes a 66% Import Fee - making it $1,691 USD. Three times the R10/MLM2PRO. I can tell you the Garmin R10 does NOT require RCT balls IF you give it enough room (the disadvantage to radar), elevate it the same amount as the height of your mat, and calibrate it for each session. But at a price of $1,691, you should also include in the comparison the SkyTrac+ (open box for $2,000), which also does putting. I want to hear more about the dotted balls. What do they cost and how can I make them at home? I tried Square Support but no response. The accuracy of the MLM2PRO comes from the dual cameras. But I'd argue most golfers can't hit close enough for it to matter. And again, you're not seeing the true accuracy possible with the Garmin if the RCT balls made much of a difference. You must have AT LEAST 17 feet to the screen. Gramin R10 has NO subscription fee for ball data and very cool driving range use (with automatic video being taken). And I am NOT locked into the subscription for Garmin Home Tee Hero as I can easily turn it on and off for each month. No subscription fee for Awesome Golf (lifetime for $300). At my usage, the 42,000 course Garmin Home Tee Hero is cheaper than the 12 here. This is all likewise true for the Rapsodo MLM2PRO. NO subscription fee for ball data and nearly as cool driving range usage. NOTE: I am also currently using Golf Shot Analytics (with Garmin and Awesome profiles) and Golf Fix AI Coach. The clear winners are #1 Garmin R10 (for longer battery and cheap 42k maps), #2 Rapsodo MLM2PRO (#1 for most people), #3 SkyTrac+ (#1 for features), and the Square gets an F due to not working outside (no range, no course, no backyard cage). Indoor means no room for friends or projector. The last video had projector at 8.5ft right over the golfer. Will NOT work. 10ft not enough.
@@fastname91 Did you see the first video when he placed the projector at 8.5ft right over the golfer? I can touch that with my hand. Doing it with a club would shatter any projector with the fist swing. My 6'4" friend was able to hit a 10ft ceiling. He NEVER shows the projector in a swing shot. Why? My $800 industrial ViewSonic LS740W is 17 feet back off to the left, FAR from the golfer. Hard to do inside/garage. Where did you place your projector? I leave my Garmin and projector outside fulltime. No problem. Hurricane rainstorms. No issues whatsoever. While the SkyTrac+ works better inside, it is designed for both indoor and outdoor use. The website states "The ST+ allows for outdoor & indoor use, take it to the range or use it as your own personal golf simulator." And so, MUCH more useable. "Square is clearly stated as an indoor only." And I clearly stated that is a problem. It is a problem. Clearly. IMHO "The pricing for Square LM is actually cheaper." No, you've likely been fooled by a failure to display "Pounds." BTW, nobody pays list for any of these... EXCEPT the Square. Here's real-life pricing. The Garmin R10 is $479 right now on Amazon (less for an open box). Free shipping to US. If I provide an Australian address, Amazon adds $14.26 for shipping and $49.43 for GST... total of $543.68 USD. NOT $899 USD. $790 Australian dollars. Many vendors are selling the Rapsodo MLM2PRO at AliExpress for just over $500 USD ($726 AD). If I use the Australian address at Square the price is MUCH less: $681.66 gbp (with $40.00 gpb shipping) or $1,316.20 AD (this is significantly more and so NOT in the same price bracket). And those special Callaway balls (some online say trying to make them at home went poorly) are $80 a dozen. I have 400 balls in my cage. That would be over $2,000 to replace. Nobody would do that. Means my Garmin R10 requires less chasing after balls.
@@fastname91 Why won't you detail your setup? Do you not have one? Why is price irrelevant to you? It's not to most people. It's not to me. Why does it bother you so that price matters to me? The people who make the ST+ disagree with you. Right on their webpage is "outdoor." My backyard setup has a mat. So does my driving range. But the Square can be DAMAGED if used outside. That's a huge difference. It will NOT work on a mat. I don't care how sure you are of your delusions. I looked up the real-life prices. And your prices are wrong. Period.
@@fastname91 "The Square unit costs $640 usd for Australia" No. First, that's $641. Second, you forgot $40 shipping. Third, you (and Golfcity) keep confusing gbp, USD, and AD. Go all the way building an order. I did.

I also would like to see how club data work, especially because the R10 and the rapsodo can NOT do it! Great explanations on the Square so far!
Can you play a round on the course with left and right handed golfers? Do you just need to move it back and forth? Or is it just not an option?
Yes definitely club data! I'm looking for a cheap monitor that gives decent club data
I understand that this device is intended for indoor use only. Does that just mean it can't have direct sunlight on the device? I have an outdoor simulator under my carport. While I don't get any direct sunlight, I certainly do get indirect light. Just wondering if this would be a problem.
Any comparison with the voice caddie SC4?
Is there a protective cage for the square? Wouldn’t want to hosel-rocket blast it out of existence. I have a Garmin r10 but my space isn’t ideal for it. Really interested in this for the benefit of a smaller room requirement, but worry about destroying it right out of the gate.
As someone who demand high accuracy on ball data, square golf is a no go for me. But I hope they will improve the firmware, perhaps in a year this has become a more mature product
Yes, would like to see Squares club data! 👍
I might still have to get this one to use it outside but only use it in the shade. Seems like it's got a good edge over the Skytrak OG to make it worth the risk now that this is proven to work with GSPro.
Is it any good with the stick?... I work away alot so I need something for a hotel room..
Did you try to mark other Balls with a black Pen to get better Spinrates?
I would love to see a club data video. Thanks
I'd prefer them just charge $100 or $200 more for the device than having a credit system. It's like BMW charging you to use your heated seats. That being said it's great to see this technology becoming more affordable. If this machine is good at reading putts it's a game changer.
Club data please! Thanks for the good info!
Did they say anything about why some of the sidespin numbers didn’t show up?
How does it compare to skytrak plus?
I had the MLM2 Pro and I experienced huge issues with missed wedge shots.
They just released a new beta that fixed chipping and had other huge graphic improvements + connection improvements
That's why I switched from MLM to Square. I'm happy now.
@qmccahonlax31 they have said that the last few betas and still doesn't read short chips most of the time
I have my unit and testing now, the putting is dead on the feel. I am testing against the R10 now and hoping to be rid of interference forever!
Club data is really nice to have. Would be awesome if you make a video about it
Coming soon. 😍 - little travel first
Did you have any issues with any of these 3 tracking shots consistently? I had a Skytrak and got rid of it because when using it in GPT I would get 2 holes in and the shots would stop tracking and I'd end up re hitting 10 times. I am starting to have that same issue with my MLM2 Pro when using Awesome Golf. It's super annoying and would love to find a monitor that doesn't have this issue, or has it significantly less frequent.
From what ive read is the square golf numbers were affected by the gc3 sitting next to it
If they do get 3rd party connection with GSpro or something, without an increase in cost, that would be a game changer.
It's $0.36 per player per round.
im abit wary on how the 3rd party connections will end up with Square because its going to render their pay as you play model useless....
@@colomboisdoido Yes, sorry I meant for the group of 4 per round. You are correct on a per person basis. I edited my comment.
Is this the cheapest camera base launch monitor? I don't have a lot of space
I am excited for sure - hoping they ship to Canada!
@btsdksn I think they will. The conversion is about 1700 cnd. It's getting up there for that money. Plus you gotta buy the balls.
sh*t... I'm the guy who asked the question!
It seems like GSPro is now supported.
Have you tried using the RPT ball with the Square? , It would have been an interesting test.
@@topgunbass RPT ball is for camera.. you’re saying RCT.
People mad it costs $1.44 for a 4some to play 18 is just silly🤣.
in fact its even less than that.. its like 36.3 cents per 18
@@ElVerdeVidafor a single player.
Although I paid $2000 for my camera and I don't have to pay per picture. Subscription/credits = ongoing rip off.
Yes you should be mad! It’s a rip off.
@@ScottCostello you spend more on a single cup of coffee. You’re fine🤣
Can you buy this in the US?
There is also a good chance of them adding multiplayer in the future because that is one thing they did add to exputt.
would love to try this and compare it to our GC QUAD and Uneekor Eye xo :)
If it could be used outside I'd buy immediately. Sadly I generally use my mat/net outdoors and like having my garmin at the range.
The disparity in subscription is huge, especially for those playing sim with friends. The $200 dollars a year for the MLM gets you 138 rounds with 4 buddies on the square. I’m not playing that much each year.
If you don’t have the room to put LM 10feet behind the square works hands down!
Sounds unbiased 😂
Club data for shure!
show the club data!
If they integrated with Awesome Golf I'd get it right now
The have some club data, but no clubhead speed. I verified this with them over email.
Look the accuracy of either that good or it’s not and if it’s not, how is it?
does anyone know if this ships to north america
what if you were to use said unit at the outdoor range during the night time?
Solid question. I’d imagine as long as it’s not in the direct sunlight the cameras in the device would be safe. 🤷🏼♂️
@@Golficity perfect, was going to build a home sim, but due to limited space, i might save up money to buy this Launch Monitor to bring with me to the range when I go, i typically go during the night time so no direct sunlight would get into the cameras
@@justindrakesantos3648 I wonder if it is outside in the day and you put it in an enclosure. Avoid the sun like a vampire. May work.
Club data please!!!
Garmin R10 is absolutely trash. I bought this before the Square Golf Launch Monitor and sent it back the very next day. I can highly recommend the Square Golf LM and has given me very accurate results including shot shaping!
Of course follow it up
The R10 DONT do sidespin so it's not an option!
You sound like a shill
Until there's a camera based launch monitor, with GSPRO compatibility and no subscription fee, it's no thanks.
Yes, club data.
lefty righty issue, just choose your friends wisely 😁
the square cannot be used outside, the R10 and Garmin can.
Club data video 🙏
If its not accurate then it is useless . maybe they can make it better but will stick to my Rapsodo that I know is spot on .
"Less accurate than the Garmin R10" 😂😂😂
Club data please
stop sticking the gc3 next to the square please
No WAY on the credits thing. I often have 3 and 4 buddies playing at once. That is insane. The garmin has the best deal. Awesome golf is super cheap and you get 5 free courses and driving range on e6.
Of course they are “working on it”
The most important info. about this device is that it’s for indoor use only! If I’d known that I wouldn’t have wasted my time watching your first video and this one!
No third party just rules it out.
its in the works. they are developing it for E6 right now and GSPro in the near future
Have had several people on several sites that have already received theirs for $739 delivered to their door in the United States.
Clearly. IMHO
"The pricing for Square LM is actually cheaper." No, you've likely been fooled by a failure to display "Pounds." BTW, nobody pays list for any of these...
Period.
@@fastname91 Smashing the projector because it's at 8.5ft is not irrelevant. It's VERY relevant. LOL
@@fastname91 "The Square unit costs $640 usd for Australia" No. First, that's $641. Second, you forgot $40 shipping. Third, you (and Golfcity) keep confusing gbp, USD, and AD. Go all the way building an order. I did.
