  • Welcome to Hershey, PA, the Sweetest Place on Earth! Founded in 1903 by Milton S. Hershey for the workers of the Hershey Company, Hershey sits just fourteen miles from the capital city of Harrisburg.
Milton S. Hershey envisioned a community around his factory, one that included comfortable homes, a public transportation system, public schools, and extensive recreational and cultural opportunities. Hersheypark was built in 1906 and rapidly expanded over the next several years. In 1909, a school for orphaned boys was established that would eventually be known as the Milton Hershey School, which provides an education to more than 2,000 income-eligible children from across the United States.
During the Great Depression, Milton Hershey launched the “Great Building Campaign” to provide jobs to the community. It was during this time that the Hotel Hershey, Hershey Theatre, the sports arena and stadium were built.
With a population of just under 14,000 people, Hershey, PA has become a popular attraction with millions of visitors annually.
