  • Welcome! Today I am combining my SCRAPS with a roll of ADDING MACHINE TAPE to make scrappy strips that can be used for just about any fabric project or quilt block you can imagine!. Mine are going into a Project Linus quilt top. I hope this video gives you some ideas and you have fun with it!
    For easily separating when chain piecing, I love the Blade Saver. Just make sure you get the right size for your old blades. www.missouriqu... - Adding machine tape can be found easily online in various widths.

    OOOH, I really like what you did with the bonus blocks! A bunch of those would make a really cute quilt. Maybe my next one, thanks for the idea!

    Chain piecing these things is a great idea. You did quite a few at once, I think I could do maybe 6 strips at once. Also, the way you ironed them is great. Less fighting the fabric and stuff. Thanks for the video.

      Wow, thank you so much for this tip! I was about to look up “adding machine tape” on Amazon, when I read your comment - so I’m grabbing a handful of receipts instead! Thank you! 😊

    That is a great success, but, I think I like the 'rail fence' bonus block best! I whole other quilt could be made with repeats of it!

      I totally agree! My next video will be the finishing of this quilt, then I will take a look at my cute little bonus blocks to see how many there are. Thanks for watching!

    I love my adding machine tape. Mindless sewing when I need it. I do around 14 inches and they store well in one of my containers. I do not remove my tape for storage and trim about 1/4 inch from the sides

      No, the scraps are a jumble. The quilt has since been donated! Thank you!

    My wife uses rolls of cheapo paper towels from the dollar store to do this same thing though the result is wider of course

    How would you use your scraps for charity projects?

    • @sunbeamfabricart
      @sunbeamfabricart  Рік тому +2

      This quilt will be donated to charity. That is the main way I use my scraps. Making quilts for Project Linus and a couple of others. Thanks for watching!

    I’m sorry for my ignorance, what is the purpose of the adding machine tape? Sorry, I’ve been starching a lot and just see mine together.

    • @sunbeamfabricart
      @sunbeamfabricart  Рік тому +1

      The paper is one way to stabilize the fabric, and to know exactly what size the project will be. I have tried making long strips without a foundation, but they always seem to come out wonky, so I prefer a paper foundation. If you are using starch and it works for you, that's great! Thanks for watching!

    Do not use an eighth of an inch same amounts because fabric will shrink in the wash
