Organized Violence:
Soon after the news of the Prime Minister's assassination spread, mobs with alleged political support targeted Sikh neighborhoods, homes, businesses and Gurdwaras (Sikh temples). Innocent Sikh men, women and children were brutally attacked, tortured and killed, with reports of widespread sexual violence and destruction of property.
Role of Law Enforcement:
It is a pity that the law enforcement agencies of that time completely failed to protect the Sikh community. Many reports suggest that the police and other security forces either turned a blind eye to the violence or, in some cases, actively participated in the attacks. This failure of duty added to the suffering of the Sikh population.
Damage and Displacement:
The exact number of deaths resulting from the 1984 Sikh Genocide remains a matter of debate. However, conservative estimates suggest that thousands of Sikhs lost their lives, while many were injured or displaced from their homes. The psychological trauma and long-lasting scars on survivors continue to haunt the community.
Quest for Justice:
After the genocide, several investigations and commissions were launched to bring the perpetrators to justice. ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਇੰਦਰਾ ਗਾਂਧੀ ਦੀ 31 ਅਕਤੂਬਰ 1984 ਨੂੰ ਉਨ੍ਹਾਂ ਦੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਅੰਗ ਰੱਖਿਅਕਾਂ ਵੱਲੋਂ ਕੀਤੀ ਗਈ ਹੱਤਿਆ ਨੇ ਦੇਸ਼ ਭਰ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਿੱਖ ਵਿਰੋਧੀ ਭਾਵਨਾਵਾਂ ਦੀ ਲਹਿਰ ਛੇੜ ਦਿੱਤੀ ਸੀ। ਕੁਝ ਲੋਕਾਂ ਦੁਆਰਾ ਇਸ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਨੂੰ ਓਪਰੇਸ਼ਨ ਬਲੂ ਸਟਾਰ ਦੇ ਬਦਲੇ ਵਜੋਂ ਦੇਖਿਆ ਗਿਆ ਸੀ, ਜੋ ਉਸ ਸਾਲ ਦੇ ਸ਼ੁਰੂ ਵਿੱਚ ਅੰਮ੍ਰਿਤਸਰ ਦੇ ਹਰਿਮੰਦਰ ਸਾਹਿਬ ਤੋਂ ਹਥਿਆਰਬੰਦ ਸਿੱਖ ਖਾੜਕੂਆਂ ਨੂੰ ਹਟਾਉਣ ਲਈ ਇੱਕ ਫੌਜੀ ਕਾਰਵਾਈ ਸੀ।
ਸੰਗਠਿਤ ਹਿੰਸਾ:
ਪ੍ਰਧਾਨ ਮੰਤਰੀ ਦੇ ਕਤਲ ਦੀ ਖ਼ਬਰ ਫੈਲਣ ਤੋਂ ਤੁਰੰਤ ਬਾਅਦ, ਕਥਿਤ ਸਿਆਸੀ ਸਮਰਥਨ ਨਾਲ ਭੀੜ ਨੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਆਂਢ-ਗੁਆਂਢ, ਘਰਾਂ, ਕਾਰੋਬਾਰਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਗੁਰਦੁਆਰਿਆਂ (ਸਿੱਖ ਮੰਦਰਾਂ) ਨੂੰ ਨਿਸ਼ਾਨਾ ਬਣਾਇਆ। ਨਿਰਦੋਸ਼ ਸਿੱਖ ਮਰਦਾਂ, ਔਰਤਾਂ ਅਤੇ ਬੱਚਿਆਂ 'ਤੇ ਬੇਰਹਿਮੀ ਨਾਲ ਹਮਲਾ ਕੀਤਾ ਗਿਆ, ਤਸੀਹੇ ਦਿੱਤੇ ਗਏ ਅਤੇ ਮਾਰਿਆ ਗਿਆ, ਵਿਆਪਕ ਜਿਨਸੀ ਹਿੰਸਾ ਅਤੇ ਜਾਇਦਾਦ ਨੂੰ ਤਬਾਹ ਕਰਨ ਦੀਆਂ ਰਿਪੋਰਟਾਂ ਦੇ ਨਾਲ।
ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਲਾਗੂ ਕਰਨ ਦੀ ਭੂਮਿਕਾ:
ਬੜੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਦੀ ਗੱਲ ਹੈ ਕਿ ਉਸ ਸਮੇਂ ਦੀਆਂ ਕਾਨੂੰਨ ਲਾਗੂ ਕਰਨ ਵਾਲੀਆਂ ਏਜੰਸੀਆਂ ਸਿੱਖ ਕੌਮ ਦੀ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਕਰਨ ਵਿੱਚ ਪੂਰੀ ਤਰ੍ਹਾਂ ਨਾਕਾਮ ਰਹੀਆਂ। ਬਹੁਤ ਸਾਰੀਆਂ ਰਿਪੋਰਟਾਂ ਇਹ ਸੁਝਾਅ ਦਿੰਦੀਆਂ ਹਨ ਕਿ ਪੁਲਿਸ ਅਤੇ ਹੋਰ ਸੁਰੱਖਿਆ ਬਲਾਂ ਨੇ ਜਾਂ ਤਾਂ ਹਿੰਸਾ ਵੱਲ ਅੱਖਾਂ ਬੰਦ ਕਰ ਦਿੱਤੀਆਂ ਜਾਂ, ਕੁਝ ਮਾਮਲਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ, ਹਮਲਿਆਂ ਵਿੱਚ ਸਰਗਰਮੀ ਨਾਲ ਹਿੱਸਾ ਲਿਆ। ਫਰਜ਼ ਦੀ ਇਸ ਅਸਫਲਤਾ ਨੇ ਸਿੱਖ ਅਬਾਦੀ ਦੇ ਦੁੱਖ ਵਿੱਚ ਹੋਰ ਵਾਧਾ ਕੀਤਾ।
ਨੁਕਸਾਨ ਅਤੇ ਵਿਸਥਾਪਨ:

ਨਿਆਂ ਲਈ ਖੋਜ:

Bhai Sahib Jee is very knowledgeable and learned about past and current events. He has a special Sikh spirit that is the essence of Sikhism. Whole world knows and respect this Sikh spirit. All governments know and are scared of this power in the panth. You could see it in farm protest, Amritpal moment, Indian freedom struggle.
I have lived through 84 in Delhi and moved to US in 85. Me and my family will never forget atrocities and will keep it in our consciousness for generations to come.

The whole scenario was very well explained by Bhai Ajmer Singh ji. One suggestion, the management should curb the tendency of some ignorant guys trying to show their faces by moving around the speaker posing and acting by taking photographs. This creates a distraction for the audience and is silly.
