Well even if Columbia is not divesting from the Jews/Israel some of the Jews are divesting from Columbia; Recently billionaire Robert Kraft, of Kraft Foods, said that he is pulling his donations from Columbia. He's not the first millionaire billionaire to do so at these universities and colleges that are not protecting their Jewish students.

Students are allowed to protest that which they see with their own eyes and cannot tolerate. whenever there is tension, there's always going to be potential for violence, but the vast majority of these students are peacefully protesting, if you listen to what she reported, she even said they had a Seder there yesterday to celebrate Passover for the Jewish students in the group. Suggesting these schools aren't protecting their Jewish students is just a way to try to get everyone riled up.

The university is not obligated to do anything different just because some of the paying customers are upset. If a store doesn't have the goods you want or believes in something different than what you believe, shop somewhere else.

A university is a corporation. In which it profits off of educating, utilizing ,criminalizing , taking, giving , providing, or doing a service. It is a business that takes public funding for poor services, electricity, water, gas ,fuel, vehicles, you name it anything they can. Most big universities are 30 billion dollar corporations like Columbia. The name of the game is profit not education. At universities.

The "central demand" should be that Israel release a set of demands for ending the occupation they declared in 1967.. since Palestinians don't have currently elected leadership they would vote on it directly after reading their personal copy.
So give up the land that was acquired after they fought and won a defensive war? They didn't start the war and the countries that launched the attack don't just get their land back. Losing the land is the consequence of starting the war.

It is illegal to boycott Israel by any US company, and if someone else mentions boycotting Israel you are required to report that request to the US State Department. Part of IBM Business Conduct Guidelines which every employee must re-certify to follow explains this (also has all sorts of sections for all sorts of business rules).

@@sendmorehoboes I'm not sure what AIPAC is but IBM employees have to read and electronically sign the BCG every year as a reminder (we also couldn't do stuff like pay for lunch if we an a tech from a gov project person were having lunch - politicians want to make sure every bit of graft and corruption goes to them so we couldn't pick them up from the airport or cover their lunch (they'd get $25/meal).

No. We do not. As far as wanting peace? Sure. The country was tired of war, as the US had been fighting almost continuously since 1942. But the protestors blames the servicemen, and bought into lies that our guys were committing war crimes. We were doing the same thing that we had done in Korea... protecting South Vietnam from North Vietnam. But with so many young people refusing to serve, and things heating up on the Soviet front... the fact was that the US was not able to put enough resources into the conflict to decisively win. So we deserted the South Vietnamese to their undeserved fate. It was one of the most shameful moments.
To be honest.. and I really mean this. I think it's a shame that the war haters in the US weren't able to win in the 40s. I mean, according to folks like you, the US should have apologized for upsetting the Japanese and the Germans and taken Pearl Harbor as a warning, and paid the Japanese conciliations for having to put them to the effort of teaching us the lesson that we belong inside the US physical borders, right? Who knows? If we had behaved ourselves appropriately, we could be living in peace and harmony with the Third Reich and Imperial Japan right now. I'm SURE that they would both have been happy to respect our sovereignty if we had left them alone... unlike those troublemakers China, France, Poland, Yugoslavia and England.
