This game was such a big deal when it came out. Remember going to the arcade all the time to play it! They had 2 Mortal Kombat machines, one regular cabinet and one that was huge projected on a screen! I was pretty good and could beat beginners easy using scorpion, Kano and sometimes Lu Kang. My brother in law was ridiculously good & beat it on a few occasions. Lots of competition in the arcade. That's something we just don't have anymore! A place where people went to get away and really interacted. At that time arcades were dying out and this was the last period (in my opinion) where people would still go. The consoles were pretty close in gameplay and graphics (SNES, although not having the gore was a spot on port unlike genisis version) but the arcades were just a step ahead enough to draw people in. Competition games like street fighter also were pretty huge...infact it almost seems like Street Fighter paved the way

Or making good games without making too much cinematics or lazy stories,or the 70% are pure boring dialogue gameplay with branch options I love Sony so much, but i want to take back when the games was pure action and gameplay,no pure cinematics and dialogues
I don’t think it’s merely nostalgia, it probably is, but there is just something so unique and special about this game that was never duplicated. It’s all just so mysterious and strange without all the lore.
I remember I was like 4 when I found out about MK and I asked my Dad for it, and with no questions asked he bought it and when Goro dropped from the sky I threw my controller at the screen😂🤣 haha.
I remember the Super Nintendo version and it having no blood. Lol I was so envious of the kids who played it on SEGA. I remember beating goro for the first time and jumping in excitement only do get destroyed by Shang Tsung. I never did it beat it... Interesting to see what happens over 20 years later.
@@rsalek What's more interesting is that MK2 gives Sub-Zero a 2-part fatality, the one ironically used in the SNES version of MK1 that was SFW by Nintendo standards.
There was only one time when me and my cousin played in a 2 player match and a small rare thing has happened that nobody has ever seen before. We actually both knocked each other down at the same time and it seriously said “DRAW” at the end of the round.
Bruh. For as long as I live, I will never forget seeing MK1 for the first time in 1992 at the local convenience store. Shit was maaad. I guess I still come back and watch these vids to try and relive that a little. Thanks for uploading arcadegamesfreak!
Actually is because of the difference between the sonoplastics sounds, the player 1 is different, it's sounds like he is suffering more when he gets a hit
The close combat in this game was the best part, it feels like real life. Opponents are not thrown so easily like in modern games, so block and trying to attack was more difficult.
Unfortunately 🤷🏻♀️ (you all take video games too seriously. They’re not a primer on how to navigate the real world. I’m just saying! Gods on the throne and you’re all still playing mortal kombat in your personal lives. And just FYI this is exactly the wrong place from which to learn how to treat the female of the species) It’s just a video game. Get real or you won’t survive, you will lose out on eternal life - John 4:16…
Years ago there was so much pride and arrogance surrounding this game. I came into it from Street Fighter, but got destroyed. Me and friend eventually got to a level where it was a quest around south Florida to see who could beat us. Some guy said, go to Grand Prix and you will get whipped. Nobody beat us there. Played at a mall in coral springs, where nobody could touch us. However, there was this asian guy who actually did tae kwon do that was rumored to play real well, but I never got to play him. By the game designer's strategy description, I possibly figured out close the ideal strategy; using the crouching low kick to move in on guys, and also defeats jump kick of people who get past the uppercut. Favorite combo was Johnny Cage >> High punch, jump punch, jump punch, jump kick. Weird to think I put so much effort into that game.
Hard to believe this game is over 30 yrs old now. Back when I first came across this game I thought it looked amazing. Do you even remember what 1992 was like compared to today? Very, very different place.
I forgot about being able to hear Goro roaring during Endurance 3 and the screen randomly shaking when he does, also love how it just goes right into the battle with him. There is just something about this game that they were never able to recapture, like lightning in a bottle.
I remember being 11 and seeing this game for the first time in the arcade. My step brother and me played a match where Kano was the first opponent. He fatalitied us, first match ever and we got TROUNCED and had a our heart ripped out. We. Were. Hooked. I spent the nexy several years enticed by all things MK. My friends and drew flipbools of MK fights in our school work books. The teacher never said anything. I wonder if he thought we were unstable, what with all the dismemberment we sketched in those books. 😅

Dude it was a joke
Max Wooten
Why are you being a poopybutt?
Max Wooten I try :)
MK4 was a trainwreck
When they try to make games looks as realistic as possible before the age of 3D graphics.
O still think this looks best of all of them
Actually 3D already exists during this time.Just wasn't taking off as much cause of MK
Or making good games without making too much cinematics or lazy stories,or the 70% are pure boring dialogue gameplay with branch options
I love Sony so much, but i want to take back when the games was pure action and gameplay,no pure cinematics and dialogues
It still looks so pretty
I don’t think it’s merely nostalgia, it probably is, but there is just something so unique and special about this game that was never duplicated. It’s all just so mysterious and strange without all the lore.
Very. Leaves so much to the imagination
Wow this new gameplay from MK1 looks awesome cant wait for this game to be released!!! 😂😂
Same
That "DING" noise at the start of the game is so fucking nostalgic.
15:42 That fight was intense
90s:
Actually playing the game.
2010s:
Spamming buttons on the controller.
2020 letting the machine play for you these damn time towers
Yep that's me I do
Ok boomer
Back in the 90s people also spammed to win on the arcade.
@@justaserbiandoomer497 You don't know what a boomer is
This is the real MK1
I remember I was like 4 when I found out about MK and I asked my Dad for it, and with no questions asked he bought it and when Goro dropped from the sky I threw my controller at the screen😂🤣 haha.
Tiffany Lee what a great story! I bet Ed Boon would love hearing Goro had that effect.
@I Poked You she is 32 then. ( or will be this year)
Tiffany Lee Why'd you do that
@@ranbirbhatia1585 it scared me 😅
From playing to watching this game as a kid to this day I still love the soundtrack 😙🤌🔥. beautiful
Fantastic game ... Amazing ... So good memories ... Good old days ... So missed ...
Greetings from Brazil !!!
Já se passaram muitos anos e continuo amando o mk1
I remember the Super Nintendo version and it having no blood. Lol I was so envious of the kids who played it on SEGA. I remember beating goro for the first time and jumping in excitement only do get destroyed by Shang Tsung. I never did it beat it... Interesting to see what happens over 20 years later.
I know but SNES looked so much more like the arcade!
I had the snes version sadly yes theres no blood but the music sounds better i thought
@@rsalek What's more interesting is that MK2 gives Sub-Zero a 2-part fatality, the one ironically used in the SNES version of MK1 that was SFW by Nintendo standards.
I wasnt even born when this came out but i still enjoy old Mortal Kombat games
Same
There was only one time when me and my cousin played in a 2 player match and a small rare thing has happened that nobody has ever seen before. We actually both knocked each other down at the same time and it seriously said “DRAW” at the end of the round.

Johnny Cage: Maybe if I wait for a few seconds he’ll stop kicking m- oh nvm
Old is gold..this game piece of history
I think vintage graphics have their charm
Good times!!! I play game in 1993,
From Brazil ✌
When I was a kid I was always so scared of this game, but I loved playing it.
Bruh. For as long as I live, I will never forget seeing MK1 for the first time in 1992 at the local convenience store. Shit was maaad. I guess I still come back and watch these vids to try and relive that a little. Thanks for uploading arcadegamesfreak!
Goro used to scare the Sh*t outta me..I was only able to play if my brother was home....or I would turn the game off when it came to him lol
+AMDFX 99 there's nothing wrong with being scared jackass
What a phenomenal game! One of my all time favorites. MK9 is the most addictive game now in my opinion.
I think it'd be an awesome touch if the new MK1 used the exact same old "excellent", "finish him", etc sound bites heard here.
The Mortal Kombat crowd is Augusta level with how respectful the applause is 👏🏾
Is everybody ignoring how he's on the 2 player side?
Don't see the issue. I always played on the player 2 side on PC. The keyboard controls are just handier on the numpad.
+Nyerguds you can play MK1 on the pc?!
everything can be played on pc
Nanimator emulator
Actually is because of the difference between the sonoplastics sounds, the player 1 is different, it's sounds like he is suffering more when he gets a hit
Nostalgia hit me hard tight now, I was like 12 when I was playing this game.
I remember getting this as a kid for Christmas on my Sega Game Gear. Loved it!
The close combat in this game was the best part, it feels like real life. Opponents are not thrown so easily like in modern games, so block and trying to attack was more difficult.
15:30 huge trolling for next 30seconds 😂😂😂
😂
Lol XD
Lmao XD

This is not a video game, it defined a generation!!!!!👍
Unfortunately 🤷🏻♀️ (you all take video games too seriously. They’re not a primer on how to navigate the real world. I’m just saying! Gods on the throne and you’re all still playing mortal kombat in your personal lives. And just FYI this is exactly the wrong place from which to learn how to treat the female of the species) It’s just a video game. Get real or you won’t survive, you will lose out on eternal life - John 4:16…
@@MarianMurphy-rz8ej ok dude you calm your nipples down now🙄🙄🙄
I spent many hours in the arcade playing this in front of crowds of kids, best player keeps playing.
Me after school
@@Polarcupcheck that Asian who did TKD is a total myth they just wanted to send you far from the arcade as possible. Spamming bastard you.
The way you handled those boss battles was the definition of sweeeeet! Dude!
4:09 That woosh followed by that upper cut sound! Aw man that it's right there what a kick ass sound!, they don;t make em like this anymore
The music and voice was bad ass
Playing the dungeon vs goro was scary, palms were sweaty too. Loved it
Hard to believe this game is over 30 yrs old now. Back when I first came across this game I thought it looked amazing. Do you even remember what 1992 was like compared to today? Very, very different place.
How different?
Man i love mortal kombat. One of my favorite game to play
Look where scorpion's hand is at 2:43
Punching the goro statue in the balls, must be painful do both...
Why are you gae?
@@rileysbasicchannel5461 he has learned from Johnny Cage

Seriously mate?? W.t.f.., are u that simple minded..
Is it only me who can still play these games,
No a lot of people have emulators
Still better story than Twilight
Well... 'too much love will kill you'. =)
Jesus Christ, your double Flawless Victory on Shang Tsung was hilarious.
I remember when this came out!!! It was and still is an amazing game
I forgot about being able to hear Goro roaring during Endurance 3 and the screen randomly shaking when he does, also love how it just goes right into the battle with him. There is just something about this game that they were never able to recapture, like lightning in a bottle.
This is a lot different than mortal kombat X
Just a little bit lol
Yeah just a tad 😂
lol a tad bit because its way older, before 3D fighting games were out.
+YeloDerp No shit this game came out in 1992 the graphics then sucked compared to now.
YeloDerp no shit Sherlock
The best MK ever, sorry "kids".
you are not boy am the one kid
Hlo
+ᵀᵃᶫᵘᶦᵍᴵ My fave is X. I play it on Mobile and Xbox One. It's on my Steam Wishlist for when I get a better computer
very man...
Ben Walker lol
I remember being 11 and seeing this game for the first time in the arcade. My step brother and me played a match where Kano was the first opponent. He fatalitied us, first match ever and we got TROUNCED and had a our heart ripped out. We. Were. Hooked. I spent the nexy several years enticed by all things MK. My friends and drew flipbools of MK fights in our school work books. The teacher never said anything. I wonder if he thought we were unstable, what with all the dismemberment we sketched in those books. 😅
Scorpion’s fatality always made me wonder how a skeleton can yell.
Magic maybe?
He was incarnate from hell, so I didn't think much about it.
He's a specter/revenant.
He’s talking about the burnt persons skeleton. Not scorpion
Sonya 💋 fatality Is the same how skeleton can yell hear!
Is it just me or the soundtracks from MK 1,2 and 3 are better than the rest of the MK games??
No not just you...can’t mess with perfection.
That is because MK 1 and 2 are the best period. 3 is meh at best.
Everything after that is rubbish that I have ZERO time for.
