I have one of these -- same year and everything. This is true to form - the thing sounds like a cannon, or like it swallowed an amplifier. Incredible guitar.

It was either the D41 or the Blue Ridge Custom... a set of Martin bronze lights on the Blue Ridge.. and you couldn’t tell them apart! Into the studio we went! ;)

Mark, you are an accomplished guitarist and really enjoy your videos. I'm a big fan and watch all your videos. I noticed with these two songs, Nothing Else Matters and Old Man, you showed us some "extra sauce". You looked like you were in a zone. I've been playing N.E.M. for years but your rendition was unreal!! Very inspiring and aspirational for us amateurs. Keep up the awesome work. And Jen is awesome too!!!

actually, early 1970s Martin's had bad glue issues and the pick guard are peeled so it was replaced. it's true, research it, I was going to buy a 71 but the bridge was lifted and the pick guard too. I sometimes wished I bought that d18 for $900 bucks back in 2010

I was hoping you'd play a Neil song. Wouldn't be right if you didn't with that guitar. First thing that came to mind when you cracked the case was "that's the Neil Young Martin".

Neil had his own engineering team. I was on that team. Nothing to do with his music.
He played a D-45 though, right? but I guess that's basically the same.

Fantastic tone on the D-41. And looks stunning.
I have a 2008 Martin D-28 nt Marquis. I like the Marquis 1 3/4" nut, 2 5/16" width at the saddle & Adirondack top over the '41 specs. Mine sounds just as good with less bling. I don't well enough to show bling.

Very nice playing.....lovely instrument.....and thanks for including the price because no matter any "shit storm" that may or may not eventuate, it's interesting for us to know the approximate market value of these GOTD instruments.

I find it pretty hard to navigate the to any specific guitar on the website...and the 'Search' function is no help at all. Try searching for '1970 Martin D-41' and nothing shows up. If I could easily find the information about GOTD on the website that would be very helpful....but that's not the case much of the time. The website needs a lot of work imo...especially on the back end.
Contact Info That’s News to me - and the rest of us. The GOTD instruments almost never make it to the site - especially the high dollar stuff.

When did Martin stop putting the volute on the back of the neck? I thought that was only in earlier models like 1940s or 50-ish. Correct if my spelling is wrong and the years are wrong.
I think I love the D-41's best! As great as D-28's are, the 41's are a little sweeter!
