The reason he's so successful is because he's far more than an actor. I don't go to see his films because he's in them. I see them because I know he's the one driving the bus, and it'll be a good ride.
One hell of the comment brother!
thats coz he KNOWS how to make good movies, not these fucking shitty repititive marvel movies!
👏 👏 👏
Yes Behind the scenes are crazy , he gives suggestions on how to film certain things and how , what stunts need to be performed.
So u go to see his films because he’s in them… 😂💀
So true. Cruise is the only actor that can open a film with his name alone. Love him or hate him, you know when you see a Tom Cruise film it will be money well spent and you will see some great action, adventure and story. Every other Hollywood star can’t open a movie by themselves to save their lives. They all now need to partner with other stars just to have a fighting chance. Even Brad Pitt, Leonardo DiCaprio, Angelina Jolie, The Rock have to have additional stars to help them out or a franchise.
I wouldn't say the only one
I'd like to say Chris Pratt, but he's got a long way to go & prove himself, and remains to be seen once he's done with the Jurassic movies (Dominion is now out), and Guardians Of the Galaxy movies (Vol. 3 is coming in 2023), and not to mention no longer part of Marvel as a whole. The TV series he's working on The Terminal List (set to be released in July 1, 2022) is a big test if he can carry something on his name and star power alone. The only other non-franchise movie Chris Pratt successfully carried (though also with Jennifer Lawrence) is Passengers (2016). So as much as I've come to enjoy Chris Pratt, his track record needs a lot of work and variety to go with sustained success.
the thing is not he's alone he got great crew that support him is why most of his movie damn great! with this current agae you need a great crew...
True , and whats sad is some Marvel fans think Tom couldn’t do Ironman if he was casted instead of RDJ. RDJ cant do mission impossiible and Top Gun, not just in acting but as in controlling the production to be more than just by the numbers movie
@@diobrando7759 In hindsight, I want to say that RDJ was the better fit for the MCU. When I think of the MCU and the kind of lighthearted comedy they tend to go for, the whole cast is generally on a even level. If you add Tom Cruise in there, his star power might be too dominating and might not have that synergy with the other actors, as RDJ did. But if Ironman was in a standalone movie, in a DCEU tone, I think TC would be great as usual.
I believe Tom Cruise truly is the last movie star. It's only fitting that he will be the first actor in history to shoot scenes for a film in actual space. It'll be many years if ever that we see an actor of his caliber again.
What movie is he going to film in space
@@erikgain1294 The title hasn't been announced yet, but it will be in collaboration with Elon Musk and Space X.
@@nicarlos73 wow
Would love to see it in theatre 😌
Russia already did that
We'll never see another actor like Tom Cruise.
There is no actor even among the youngsters who can match Tom's level of dedication when it comes to filmmaking
@@mr.sinjin-smyth honestly Tom Cruise is the producers of his movies. Until Pratt does that, he has a long way to go brother
@@andykapped0823 Pratt is a regular actor, but the comparison it is not right yet. Cruise is in another league.
@@mr.sinjin-smyth Pratt doesnt even come remotly close to Tom Cruise.
@@flycrack7686 At present, definitely not. But he's got the potential. He's got many more years to fill up his resume. I could say the same for The Rock, Ryan Reynolds and Chris Hemsworth. Tom Cruise seemed average to me back in the 1990s. But after, the first Mission Impossible movie, his career exploded. Pratt actually has done really well at this point, so you'll never know. In the end, it's all about luck, ambition, and sheer determination. And also, staying out of any political & social issues.
Would like him to play the bad guy one more time, loved his character in collateral. My dream would be for him to be the big boss at the end of the john wick movies and let him and Keanu have a full-blown stunt off for two and a half hours.
Loved him in Collateral. One of my all time favourite movies.
@@mrclaytron imo collateral is micheal Mann's best film. Even better than heat.
Collateral was good because we all hope Jada was going to get shot
@@temperuncentered1753 thank you for saying that. I said that to myself as well lol.
He also played a villain in 'Interview with the Vampire'-and was great in it!
This guy i ruling box office like a king for 3 decades, even this guy do not work in a multi starrer movie, even actors like rdj are flop outside mcu and then comes tom cruise, he is the greatest movie star of all time
Tom Cruise deserves the best actor Academy award, and many other awards for Top Gun. It's his time. He consistently delivers for 4 decades. He does the flying, the crazy stunts, he guided the young actors, he showed maturity and emotional gravitas, and he kept artistic integrity and patriotism by not bowing to China's political pressures and box office and kept U.S. allies Taiwan and Japan's flag on his jacket.
Do you agree that Tom Cruise is more famous than Jenna Ortega.
He’s been a movie star going on 40+ years. Incredible!! #Legend
He does crazy stuff just for our entertainment and we need to be thankful to him for that
Agree
The biggest movie star of all time has inspired me in so many ways
Biggest is a bit of an strech. Top 3 likely and in action also
@@schwartzy65 I think Tom has, arguably, the best film portfolio of any actor out there in terms of variety and success.
Tom the GOAT
His reputation was at it's worst in the mid 2000s yet he had WotW which was I believe the most financially successful movie in his career at that point. And then he repaired his image effortlessly with Les Grossman before entering his second prime in the 2010s. He's not just good with making films, he knows the marketing and presentation game in and out. Brad Pitt and Johnny Depp could have attained his level of relevance, but none of them specializes or cares about being a star like he does.
@@maybeen9294 well bullet train looks promising
You're absolutely right. I'm not sure if he has always been this way- certainly his Scientology era and relationship with Katie Holmes were not marketing victories- but in the past decade or so, he has either dedicated a lot of his personal focus, or had some truly killer PR assistance, towards refining and supporting his "movie star brand".
For the past few M:I movies, his brand has been one of commitment, obsession, and craftsmanship. Of course the stunts pull the top headlines, but he doesn't actually sell himself as a daredevil. In Fallout, his focus wasn't so much on the risk or danger of jumping out of an airplane or spiraling down a valley in a helicopter- it was the hundreds of parachute jumps and thousands of hours of helicopter training he dedicated to being able to perform those scenes himself, for real. Watch the BTS footage, or his bits with Corden- he didn't just learn to fly a helo, he flies it like an old pro- and he didn't just learn to skydive, he maneuvers in the air and lands like an expert. It goes beyond just wanting to "do your own stunts". It's commitment, obsession, and craftsmanship.
Now with Maverick, we're seeing him embrace his age and shift his image to that of a mentor and elder statesman of Hollywood. Note how the press around the movie doesn't talk much about Tom's death-defying stunts or piloting skill- despite being a very capable pilot, he actually didn't fly the Super Hornet at all. Instead, the press was about the flight training program he designed for the younger actors, the coaching he gave them on camera operation, the filmmaking wisdom he imparted from his decades in the industry. This is not random. Tom knows that the world already understands his commitment and obsession, and continuing that story breaks no new ground. He's telling a new chapter of his story, one where he has graduated from hotshot Luke to become a wise Obi-Wan. He's laying the groundwork for his legacy. And as the video here says, he's positioning himself as the last true all-around movie star- or perhaps, the first in a new generation of Hollywood royalty.
@@its_clean Damn! So well put. This is what I'd like to say but struggles saying in my second lamguage. Thanks for this! Absolutely agree
We take Tom Cruise for granted, when the time comes that he retires from action films, Hollywood will have a huge loss. There are hardly any other actors that can come close to his talent and effort in not only in action sequences, but to make his movies as great as possible.
Indeed my friend
Its strange no one pointed this out before
I used to take him for granted, but I realised he's probably the last great movie star we have left. I truly admire the effort and dedication he puts into the films he makes. He's a dying breed.
Indeed agree 👍
Tom C the real living legend and superstar.
Love him and seen all his movies.
Only Tom can create quality movies that is very rare nowadays.
As an Indian I only found myself watching Hollywood cause of Tom Cruise first one was mission impossible before that I had watched Hollywood movies but was not crazy or anything but then 12 yr old me went crazy when I saw mission impossible then I watched Jerry mcquire and now I'm a big fan of Tom Cruise the person, the brand and everything itself and only after his movies now I'm a big fan of movies of Hollywood too and there are only few actors whose name makes me watch a movie is him ❤️
Desi ladkiyo ko action pasnd h 😁 kyaaa bat h 🙂
Desi ladkiyo ko action pasnd h 😁 kyaaa bat h 🙂
Tom Cruise is the last, but he's much more than a movie star. I honestly don't think there's anyone with his skill set in Hollywood. He's an outlier, an oddity and a master filmmaker. I always loved him, he's had a huge influence on my life and I'm happy he's had this success; it's probably the most well deserving in Hollywood history.
Do you agree that Tom Cruise is more famous than Tobin Bell?
Tom and Keanu should make a movie together. Matrix and Minority Report combo.
i always said that tom cruise could play as Neo in Matrix.
Keanu just going to fuck up a Tom Cruise movie, Keanu can’t act. Don’t get me wrong, Keanu is a great guy. Tom takes his movies seriously, I don’t think Keanu can deliver.
@@tombrady9385 exactly my point, keanu is a wholesome guy and a dedicated hard working guy, but his acting is just monotone,
No. Mission Impossible/John Wick. That shit would be wicked!
Also forgot to mention his awesome role as Les Grossman in Tropic Thunder. He did a fantastic job being a cooked-up guy there 🤣.
He is the last true movie star. So when you see his name on the movie in today's market, you know that movie is worth your time to watch as no matter the story, he will not waste your time; he lives to entertain the audience.
I think he really is…. Sad but true. Legend status.
Glad to see the collections of Top Gun Maverick, very well deserved and Tom Cruise has my respect for staying true to himself and his filmography.
God Damn Tom is one of a kind!!!!!!
Agree
Tom Cruise works extraordinarilly hard and meticulously smart to deliver for his audience as a primary priority. No other leading actor reveres the process to every component of the medium quite as astutely nor emphatically. And that's the difference.
Yep - This!!
I totally agree. Doing his own stunts in his 60s is no small feat. He truly is the last of the era
When Spielberg made Jurassic Park it was a Spielberg movie, when he made War of the worlds it was Tom Cruise movie not Spielberg. It's true.
Do you agree that Tom Cruise is bigger than Jenna Ortega?
After watching Top Gun Maverick; he truly is 👍🏻
Tom Cruise’s films are rewatchable.
I never miss any movie of tom cruise
This is an interesting discussion. He is one of the last true Hollywood movie superstar. Top Gun Maverick is absolutely fantastic!!!!
I would add, The Color of Money, is very much a Paul Newman film, but one that Cruise very much makes his in every scene he has. It is worth re watching.
Scorsese film
Tom cruise is the last action hero.
Damn Right
You forgot to mention his perfomance in Tropic Thunder that truly put him on the map!
Such a dedicated actor. He’s willing to go the distance to make great films. He’s really the last of his kind.
short answer..Yes he truly is the last TRUE hollywood movie star...let me tell you this..I live in India and no other actor from hollywood has that presence like Tom Cruise..even my mom gets excited if it's a Tom Cruise movie..she has been a fan since Cocktail.
Cruise's success comes from his impeccable work ethic. He produces nearly all of the movies that he's been a part of for quite some time now leading to him having his hand in the hiring of some very talented people and allowing him to do his own crazy stunts. He doesn't have the biggest box office tally in Hollywood but I'd argue that he has the best overall movie output for excellence than any other actor in history.
After watching Top Gun 2, I thought the same, he is truly Hollywood's last Superstar and also the world has changed since he started his career. So it is highly unlikely anyone can match his Stardom.
I agree 100% - the interesting thing is how insanely successful an actor this man is, despite all the negative press about his personal life. He is able to rise above all the bullshit.
If it's a Tom Cruise movie, I'm all in. Even his worst films are still very entertaining at the very least.
Ultimately, Tom Cruise chooses the films he wants to make, and chooses who he wants to work with. It seems, for me at least, the type of films Cruise wants to make seem to perfectly align with the types of movies I want to watch. I really hope he gets to keep making great films for a long time to come. I love this crazy talented man.
Tom is a legend
Tom Cruise performances in Magnolia AND Tropic Thunder... both genius.
I was an extra on Maverick and I’ve never seen an actor as involved in the shoot - he acted like a 2nd director. He was focused and intense but a nice guy.
I didn't know how much I needed this video...but now i do...super awesome video.
Truly I admire tom cruise so much that it tears me up thinking one day he gonna leave, he is currently in his 60's now😔😔😔
Tom Cruise is MI franchise. That franchise wouldn’t exist without him.
That line though..
30+ years of service, yet you can't get a medal( Oscar), promotion and despite your best efforts you refuse to die( his habit of doing death defying stunts just to amuse us, audience)....that line was just made for him
The last action hero.Mr. Cruise.
Hey Oscars! Give this man his Best Actor award!
He doesn't need an Oscar. He will be the greatest star of all time by the end of his career with or without an Oscar! He's that good!
The Oscars don't deserve him
Hollywood is jealous of him
He is a real life maverick
He is way greater than that st pi d academy
They are a joke
@@seanwhitehouse2274 he should of won one for Jerry Maguire
@@seanwhitehouse2274 I am glad to see your comment. I agree 💯. He’s way above & beyond Oscars & awards. God has discontinues models like him. He’s old school in his values, chivalry, thorough gentleman with ethics, values, integrity, staying true to whatever he’s believed in even if I may disagree with his leaning to a certain church. Besides being a dentist & a functional medicine Dr I fully agree with his infamous interview where he spoke about psychiatry & the psychiatric drugs being harmful.
We give so many patients high dose nutritional intravenous vitamins & high dose IV VitC (myself included) to detox these psychiatric drugs out of thei systems & help with healing their abused bodies with cocaine heroine alcohol etc….
People have a tendency to abuse someone without fully investigating in depth or simply going with the media hype, themselves afraid to be outcast or be the odd one who speaks up bravely, which is what Tom Cruise did for Brooke Shields. Any *good, genuinely well-meaning, sincere* friend would have said what he did.
Kudos to this Legendary Iconic Inspiring Man & a most Fulfilling Happy Birthday In advance.
Always loved Tom cruise. I luved his non action movies as well . He is a great actor
Say what you will about Cruise, he's a real force to be reckoned with and his perfectionism and dedication are more than respectable. He also largely keeps himself out of political commentating and virtue signaling, so there's that too. I've noticed that lately he's largely moved away from the quieter dramas that he used to do, and I think that's a shame. I would really like to get another Rain Man or Magnolia.
Or another Last Samurai.
@@maybeen9294 I could see that. Although since he's already like 60 I think he's gonna go the Bronson route and play the action star as long as he possibly can. 😂 Either way though, at least he didn't go the Will Smith route and stoop to making those shamelessly exploitative Oscar-bait movies. (Collateral Beauty is still one of the cringiest and most blatant attempts at an Oscar I've ever seen.😂🤮)
Oh man... YES, yes. And if I'm being honest - comedy too!
Loved him in Magnolia.
Top Gun made 1.4 Billion Box office (Dec 2022)
0:35 Just to clarify, Tom Cruise has said that everywhere he went around the world people told him to make Top Gun 2.
Tom Cruise is the biggest movie star on earth. Everyone know it. 💙💙
Here to comment that I found your great channel before it blows up to a million+ subs.
Tom Cruise is the only film star who doesn't need a big budget franchise backing him to pull it off
SCARY.. this is like an epitaph! Imagine of we lose him soon😫 I DO hope his safety in filmmaking comes FIRST!!!
It's not just the last of the classic movie stars you're discussing because it's intertwined with the end of cinema as the great pinnacle of high end entertainment.
Social media, video games, streaming services and movie franchises are the new landscape. To be a megastar of the old school calibre you'd need to be across each of these categories but it's impossible. You can't be recognised as a social media "influencer", video game icon, darling of the small screen streaming platforms, AND a key actor in the movie franchises. They're too disparate. Not a bad thing, just a different era.
Risky Business, the OG Top Gun, The Color of Money, A Few Good Men, Born on the 4th of July, Days of Thunder, the MI series, Vanilla Sky, Minority Report, War of the Worlds, Rain Man, Jerry Maguire, Eyes Wide Shut, Magnolia, Oblivion, Edge of Tomorrow, The Firm, The Last Samurai, Collateral, Valkyrie, American Made, Top Gun Maverick and last but not the least - his insanely funny performance in Tropic Thunder. I have enjoyed every single Tom Cruise movie I have ever watched in my life. And I cannot say that about any other actor. For me, he is not just the biggest movie star alive today but the greatest movie star of all time.
Yes I remember the days where people said I want to see a Jimmy Stewart movie, a Cary Grant or Audrey Hepburn movie. One can definitely say I want to see a Tom Cruise movie. Ever since his early movies like Risky Business he takes an interest to learning the film process across many departments and thus at an early age e.g. Top Gun he totally takes over the movie and executive produces many of his major films including all the Mission Impossible series and Top Gun (1) and this years PERFECT movie Top Gun (2) Maverick. One of the few action heroes that can make you cry. His characters have real emotions. He is a talented film producer and great actor. He is very good looking but when you watch him in action you forget all that and just get into the character he plays.
Honestly one point i think made tpm so successful is the fact that, even if it was a cult, the first top gun hadnt really a “””good””” story, at least for me, but was all focused on the action. Now we have the top tier action without cgi and a story that expands on the universe and is good to hear so its a win win situation for all
If I can wish one things I'd wish that Tom Cruise become immortal so he can continue making sequels and more sequels and prequels to all his movies. I hope he make like 100,000 sequels of MI, Top Guns, Edge, Minority, interview with the vampire, Reacher, that Samurai movie every Tom Cruise movie
Tom Cruise in his prime didn’t need a billion dollar movie to sell movies. His name sells the movie,it didn’t matter if was in a romantic comedy, drama or action.
Tom Cruise is Untouchable. He is the brand!!
He is the worlds MEGASTAR of all the film industries combined. If there was an association of world cinema, he would be the president and MD.
Do you agree that Tom Cruise is WAY more famous than Emma Roberts?
I saw Glen Powell's (Hangman) interview where he said he auditioned for the Rooster role but didn't get it. Then Tom called him and said they'd create a role to fit him, he said that Tom told him the secret to success is not to get great roles, is to be in great movies and make the role great. Sums it all up.
Yeah of course no one an others can match sir Tom Cruise because he's honest with his work that's why Hollywood knows by sir Tom's named he's all time my favourite actor and also great human beings
Tom cruise is one of the kind..... 👏🙏🙏
A Truly dedicated man that believes in himself and what he can accomplish with what today's actors don't want to do: Hard F'ing Work!
You can’t deny the Star Power! He so passionate about Cinema and still does most of his own stunts, the guy is a Beast!
We are lucky to witness his legacy...
It's gonna be a real sad day in Hollywood when Tom Cruise retires from acting, the man is an absolute legend. One of the best ever actors of all time and it's just criminal how he dosen't have an Oscar, especially his outstanding performances in the Last Samurai and Born On The Fourth Of July. All the other popular stars just aren't what they used to be,Mark Whalberg is just doing stupid movies now instead of his good old action ones. He could've made a franchise out of Shooter,Matt Damon is just nowhere to be seen and clearly lacking a Jason Bourne 5,Bradd Pitt,Leonardo Dicaprio and more just aren't what they used to be. But Tom Cruise still keeps it real honestly the man is a legend and he never dissapoints. Despite his messed up personal beliefs I just love him as an actor, his personal life is his business either way he'll always be one of the best ever actors.
There is a running and there is Tom Cruise style of running, which is a completely different thing.
Cruise find talented ppl. Especially writers. And keeps them around.
Tom Cruise is the GOAT of movie stars.
You damn right my man! You can't say "Eyes Wide Shut" - A Tom Cruise film because Stanley Kubrick is so great! Amazing video. Excellent content. Totally agree with you. Tom Cruise is the biggest movie star for me.
YES!
No doubt!!
And I am so sure because this is the exact same thing I said to my friend when we went to see Maverick together...
"I feel Tom Cruise is the Last True Movie Star in the world", I said!
Not even joking
Tom in Hollywood and Srk in Bollywood are the last of the stars
I totally agree with you that Tom cruise is the last superstar of Hollywood even his latest movie top gun did good on box office the most bankable actor in the world .
He takes his job quite seriously and does more than just doing his part which is playing a character. He involve himself completely into production and uses his power to dictate/guide the production to the territory of risks, challenge and quality away from comfort zones of traditional film making methods. He's constantly finding ways to push boundaries and do things differently and it works. True artist with dedication.
Mate ur video was very articulate and well put, u gained a sub already
There's Tom Cruise... and there's everybody else
Tom cruise world's biggest movie star of All Time
Glad to get a bit of the tom cruise era.
Oh I wish I were 20 years older, everything was so awesome back then
Hollywood is just pure jealous of him
he is so good man
Worlds most famous stuntman
I don't know if I buy this claim. I can think of a lot of actors who's name is what gets people in theaters. Ryan Reynolds, Scarlett Johansson, Chris Pratt, Jenifer Lawrence, Emma Stone, Chris Evans just to name a few. And granted these actors do do a lot of franchise films, but they also do a bunch of non-franchise films, some of which are good and make tons or money and some of which are bad and are forgotten to time.
And yes, you could argue that many of the actors I just mentioned don't have the longevity of Cruise's fame but plenty of other actors in the industry have been box office draws for decades like Will Smith, Leonardo DiCaprio, Denzel Washington, Keanu Reeves, and Meryl Streep.
And that's not even counting a bunch of aging actors who, while not in their prime, are still movie stars from past decades. People like Clint Eastwood, Harrison Ford, and Julie Andrews are still alive and kicking. These are the people who established the franchises that modern Hollywood makes sequels to but they weren't franchises when these actors first signed on. Yes these actors aren't as popular today as they were in their prime and they are old so they won't be around forever, but they are still box office draws.
So I don't think it's accurate to call Tom Cruise the last true movie star when so many older stars are still active and a bunch of modern stars have the same name recognizably and ticket selling power that Cruise does.
That’s the point he’s making it’s not headlined as the a Chris evans film or a Chris Pratt film it’s more on the franchise and the director whereas Tom cruise headlining the film just makes people go to the theatre.
I wish We had tom in india
You guys have Bappi Lahiri, and that's just as good.
Shah Rukh Khan baap hai tom ka fact
Christian Bale is up there for me... as far as I'm aware. When he's in a movie, it's going to be good. He's also *incredibly* dedicated. Did you guys see how he loses and gains weight for multiple roles in a matter of months?! It's unhealthy, but it shows how dedicated he is
Lets not forget his breakout performance in Austin Powers : Goldmember :)
One of my favorite performances from Tom is in Interview With a Vampire. He's magnetic on-screen.
I hope he can get another role that sees him flexing his acting chops like that. I'd even be happy to see him work with Paul Thomas Anderson again.
Production quality in your video is impressive this is the first video i am watching fron your channel now after this i am definitely going to check out ypur other videos.
Top Gun Maverick nearing 1 billion dollars in box office collections
Tom cruise is probably the last movie star on earth who carries a movie on his shoulders
Great video but you forgot Magnolia
Tom cruise _ worlds most powerful movie star
I didn't really understand why he didn't get an Oscar, especially after his film Valkyrie.
In the beginning you said he was 60 in Maverick, I don't doubt he can still do his stunts, but to be fair he was 3 and a half years younger during fiming ( Top Gun was filmed in february of 2019).

"People today, go for the characters not the actors..." except TC
Will Smith and Tom Cruise name is enough for box office.
Man, you are right on point! Superb Video , enjoyed it greatly!
He very hard working and dedicated.
Love it how the naysayers are idolising Tom Cruise right now. Almost eveyone is on Tom's ship now compared to back when some would critisize him for "looks that won't last" in Hollywood
