Amidst tangled roots and silted stones, The culvert lies, forgotten, choked with debris. Its once swift flow now stilled, silenced, As if the earth itself held its breath. I, the humble keeper of these hidden passages, Wade into the muck, sleeves rolled high, My hands seeking purchase on mossy walls, Determined to free the water’s captive song. With rake and hands, I labour Each clod dislodged, each pebble tossed, A prayer to the rain gods, the river nymphs, To grant me strength and favour in this task. The sun beats down, sweat trickling, But my resolve remains unyielding. For the culvert’s voice must rise again, Its murmurs echoing through the valley. And so, I dig, my muscles straining, The mud yielding reluctantly, Revealing glimpses of the ancient stones, Their rough edges worn smooth by time. At last, the blockage gives way, A rush of water, a sigh of relief, And the culvert sings anew A melody of freedom, of release. I step back, mud-caked, and weary, Watching as the stream dances forth, Carrying away the detritus of seasons, Leaving behind a cleansed passage. In this quiet act of restoration, I find purpose the rhythm of labour, The harmony of earth and water, And the promise of renewal.
@@culvertsandmore You inspire me in writing some of my poems. This one took a month of crafting just for you. Your commitment is commendable -- well from this side of the pond that is🙂
That's a good thing you guys are doing. I used to like unclogging drains. Watching the water start to flow and watching the whirlpools. I still do sometimes lol.
the honey bees inside that fallen tree is awesome! I'd have taken some of the honey comb. lol Maybe the reason that one creek was dry could be a beaver dam upstream?
Hello there! That was a big mess you found on the first stop. Nice walk about in the countryside, Kim. Disappointed with the graffiti on that monument. So thoughtless…Thank for the upload. Take care…👋🏻👋🏻👋🏻
I definitely understand your caution about snakes, but I think once you have spent five minutes moving sticks and brush, any snake will have definitely decided to relocate. Personally, I am not that afraid of snakes, but my mother had a bonafide phobia for snakes. I found a little green garter snake one time. She was watering some flowers when I tried to show her what I had and she turned the water on me.
Actually not entirely true about the snakes moving on. I watched one of their videos the other day, they had worked an area at least 15-20 minutes and suddenly there was a baby copperhead and they had to quit.
I’m fine with snakes but when it comes to the venomous kind you wouldn’t see me for dust - although I’d much rather see a snake than a spider, even a small one (yes, I’m arachnophobic). Thankfully living in Scotland the only venomous snake we have is the adder but sadly spiders are getting bigger and bigger.
Here in Pittsburgh we call your stickers jaggers. This leads to a famous Pittsburghese phase called jag off. It means an obnoxious rude person that you just can’t get rid of they just seem to stick to you. Sounds like your stickers right.
I wouldn't want to see anything like that bee hive either. I got stung bad by bees when I was young and don't want to be anywhere near them every since.
Jenny gets sick if things are not going her way,,but her mam is right in there..At the same time I would not do this,,if anything touched my leg floating past,I would be screeming...Her man would just go straight for it,,but Jenny must wait until the camera is on her, before she puts the same in the water..
Honey, I’m not sure what your problem is but you keep making ridiculous nonsensical comments about Jen like she isn’t doing the work or editing these videos for you to watch. If you don’t like her then you can stop watching cause the channel doesn’t exist without her. We are filming for a channel of course the camera needs to be on us. Try to stop being rude just because you are on the internet.
Jen, you always look so beautiful but in todays video even more so. That gluten free eating regime is definitely agreeing with you, I think I will have to do the same as gluten seems to be my enemy. Thanks to you both for your wonderful videos and hard work. Cheers from Dublin, Ireland 🇮🇪 ❤
My daughter doesn’t have a problem with gluten, but when she needed to lose a lot of weight after having twins, she went on the keto diet. She got back to her normal weight but occasionally goes on it for a few days to maintain her weight. A good friend of hers couldn’t do keto because it requires going into ketosis and it made her feel far too bad to continue.
It is an absolute joy watching you two working together. Cute turtles, poor bees…🇨🇦
Love the old log cabin. Oh how I wish the walls could talk. They could tell us the year it was built and the families that lived there. ❤
That hive was interesting to see, thanks for sharing!
You ladies are amazing. You tackle the trees, brush, and rocks to clean out the culverts. I really enjoy the videos.
Great work ladies, love watching Miss Lucy too 🐾💕

Lucy disapproves of dry culverts! ❤
Seeing the bee hive in the tree was a nice surprise. I know y’all are glad for the rain.
Great video ladies 😊

What a moody blues kind of day. Kind of spills over to your attitude!😢

@@iykyk-s8z I watch ALL their videos. Working around the snake is different than pulling apart the brush it is in.
@@enid0mom yes, I know, I watch all their videos as well.

That blockage looked like Lucy for a moment!🤭

The Charlie Chaplin are back, you make me giggle 😊😊😊😊😊 good job ladies 🎉🎉🎉❤❤. The culverts that were empty could they have been blocked further up?
Lucy loves water but hates rain. 😂
I wonder if the the logs from the cabin are still good❤❤❤
Is it not lovely how mother nature takes back what was originally hers x

As I am watching this, it is raining here in Houston, TX after a few weeks with temperatures in the high 90s and heat index way over 100°.
