    Mama Flo,thank you, thank you very much for this. Just found this new channel today and subscriberd so fast. I have been so interested in mutual funds and this has helped me a lot,didn't know first bank has one.

    • @FloFinance
      @FloFinance  4 роки тому +3

      Yes First Bank has a whole subsidiary set aside for Mutual.Funds: FBNQuest Asset Management. And yes, everything is done online these days. The only prerequisite is that you must have an operational Nigerian bank account (in ANY bank, must not be First Bank). Then contact FBNQuest (links in the description box) and say you want to invest in this fund.
      There are other funds which you can read up on on their website. But this one is the most attractive to me based on past yield and how affordable it is.

      One more thing please: any difference in commission charges between mutual fund managers and stockbrokers?

    • @FloFinance
      @FloFinance  4 роки тому +3

      @@chimereh.achilefu9176 the charges for all these are always quoted in percentages which typically is around 1.5% in the industry.
      For this fund, the management fee is 1.5% and they quote the NET yield which means they have already deducted their management fee before telling you the yield. For instance with that 2019 yield that was 20.6%, that's what YOU the investor will get because they have already deducted their fee.
      For stockbrokers, you ONLY pay them commission when they buy/sell shares for you and usually their commission is about 1.5% on the value of the shares you are buying, a bit more if you are selling. Then you pay SEC or NSE fees depending on whether you are buying or selling, CSCS fees, stamp duty, VAT. All these are tiny amounts. For instance looking at one of my contract notes for shares I bought sometime ago, I see that I paid 1.57% in stockbroker commission, 0.7% in SEC and CSCS fees, 0.07% for stamp and 0.07% VAT.
      I will get into all that in future videos but these fees are usually a small amount compared to the principal amount. For instance 1.57% of say N100,000 worth of shares is N1,570, and N15,700 for N1,000,000 worth of shares.

    • @FloFinance
      @FloFinance  3 роки тому +1

      In the history of my being a shareholder with Nigerian companies, NOBODY working with registrars can divert your dividends. Only your family members who can accurately forge your signature and know other information about you can do that.
      The time you did not receive dividends may probably be because you did not activate eDividend payments (linking your shareholder accounts to your bank) so when they (Nigerian stock exchange) stopped the issuing of paper warrants, you did not receive anything. But as you saw, you came back and all your unclaimed dividends were there for you.

      Each company you invest in releases financial reports ever year. And in that financial report, the amount paid out in dividends is stated there. Then use that to multiply the number of shares you hold with the company and you will get the amount of money you should be paid by that company. Repeat for every company you hold their shares.
      The organized companies upload the financial report on their websites. Watch these two videos. I explained how to fish out this information in these videos:
