Yes! You Win!!🏆 What a great video!! I laughed till I cried. Thank you for sharing your ideas and classy-unique style. It truly inspires this 47 year old cat loving, style trying girl!!❤️
@@unblahyourself 😊Yes, 💯% transformation from Cruise Director to 1st Class Passenger🚢. 🎉Brava! Greatly appreciate your fearless demonstration👍. Have collected some beautiful corporate skirt suits that I still love❤, but they might need a lil' 🪄 pizazz for the real world🌐. Not going to lie, the thought of hacking them apart is intimidating😱〰️esp. as these garments are all lined. 😬Trying to work my nerves up to shorten the skirts to make them less officey & conservative. 😉Perhaps you can show us a way to make a straight suit skirt (around or just below the knee) feel more hip & sassy w/some of your clever style tricks. Need your inspo! 🧐Also considering cropping some of the blazers &/or removing the sleeves of others to create a fancy gilet. Like the layering look of a long suit style vest. Plus, in LA's hotter🌞 climate, I might wear them more sleeveless. 🤔Gonna try taping up the skirts & jackets to test how I might like it in reality. Also pull the sleeves inside each blazer candidate to see if that option actually looks appealing. Think I need to test the waters💧 before doing the deed. 💚Bridget from Cali☘️ (using my pal's YT acct)
Ooooh girl! I get snip-happy too! I wish I knew how to sew and make patterns because, as a plus-sized woman, SO MANY of my clothing items are just made SO POORLY: huge arm holes, too tight shoulders, gappy buttons, ugh. That first dress would be PERFECT for an art gallery viewing! And that red blazer - ADORABLE! If the edges are still "raw" here's how you can zhizh that up: cut half-inch perpendicular "fringe" into the edge all the way around (no hemming!). I've done this with a couple of old items, it adds a fun touch. Love your kitties!
Great tip about fringe.I'm about to search in my boxes of wool blazers for something to work on.I bought a whole pile of wool suits from a consignment shop that was closing.I planned to use them for braided rugs but after watching the blazer transformation, I feel inspired to search for a red jacket to crop!
Wear the dress to the Fine Arts Museum…..I have cut so many clothes…..love this. I cut man collars off all the time….change my shirts to a band collar.
This is a great topic! It applies to so much; I’ve used scissors on clothes, curtains, you name it. It just takes the imagination and a little bit of understanding of how items are constructed.
Ooh the red jacket! I was thinking Oh NO but it's adorable! And you could finish off the piece from the dress for a ... scarf! Didn't see that coming! 😊
I like the white hem because it says "original." I saw Brooke Shields wearing one of her mother's dresses; sometimes letting us see that vintage works is fantastic.
You are so real and relaxed in your videos. Cutting the red blazer was genius. You are too young to be a member of the glamsquad but when you get there you will rule❤
The kittens added a ‘je ne sais quois’ to your video. I’m glad you are still in one piece. Thank you. May you all please take care and stay safe. Louisa. 👏👏👏❤️❤️❤️🤩🤩🤩
I love the little red jacket, would love to see how you trim it. This is where I come unstuck. I am a hopeless sewer. But love restyling things…with scissors too.
Hi Diana, First, thanks for your channel. I’m a recent fan and love your tone and your message that for me is: Be yourself! Please yourself! Well, I’m an American woman (68) who’s been living in France for the last 40 years. I retired to Perpignan, near Spain near the Mediterranean. Anyway, this morning while having a coffee and doing some people watching at a café, a man walked by wearing a rather loud printed shirt….well it was the same print as your first item in this video. I have to say my double-take was epic!!! Keep up the good work!!👏🏻👏🏻
Snatch your waist, girl!! A wide blue/black belt with silver fittings. I like the colors in that dress -- reminds me of the United Colours of Benetton from back in the day! Oh, and I too am 5'9" -- the struggle between dress/long top is REAL!!
I DID IT!!! Snip, snip, snip…..I transformed two dresses I seldom wore and now have two adorable tops I love. So much fun. Plus I snipped 6 inches off a white t-shirt so I don’t need to tuck it in, but the round neckline will show under my sweaters. I WIN! TY for the inspiration. Ps…I do a minimum of hand sewing so may need to hem these babies eventually.
The print on the 80s dress is so 1980sc but it’s still cute. I can see wearing that to an art gallery show. Adding a black beret with the dress really works. The neat thing about some 80s clothing is all you need to do to make the item more current is to remove the shoulder pads.
I don't know, but I really, really loved that colorful dress on you with the booties and beret! Awesome and if I saw you in it, I would have to tell you it was so smart looking! ( I do that if I see someone in a great outfit, sweater, pants, coat....whatever because I think it's great to let them know they look great in it!) AND, the red jacket redo....beautiful! But, the kittens....so dang cute and their antics...precious! They made me laugh so many times and I mean out-loud laughing! Great video!
You wouldn't believe how many times I laughed out loud, just editing that! I do like to do what you do too where you need to tell people who are wearing cool things that they are wearing cool things because it makes both of you feel great! 🤜
Love the red jacket! Never thought to cut my clothes but I've dyed so many, even cashmere, with mostly great results. I especially like creating new colors by mixing dyes. If you're going to give or throw something away, why not?
The kittens lifted what might have been an unusual vlog into a delightful unusual vlog. Don’t chuck them out…they are just adorable. It doesn’t last forever, one day they will be fat and lazy…..and dull. And you can’t cut their tails off!
Diana, totally hilarious video today. You're a great Mom for kittens. You were frazzled, but kept it together for the kids. I really like the red jacket. Be sure to show us how you finish it. Cheers

Loved this video! Was definitely a "take the sissors out and cut" girl! New Years eve 1982, bought a black dreess for going out. Put on dress and hated the neckline. Out came the sissors and cut, cut, cut (my friends were yelling at me that I was ruining my dress!). Nope. Turned our beautiful!
I LOVE this video. I've been snipping my clothes for years and calling it refashioning. It usually involved sewing though, adding fabric to the bottom of a tee or sweatshirt to make a dress, adding legging sleeves to sleeveless tops or cutting off the bodice of dresses to make skirts. But I did NOT ever think of leaving the seam on the neck of a sweatshirt or teeshirt instead of cutting the whole neckband off. I always ended up with an off-the-shoulder look which was never what I was going for! I've already cut three neckbands off to the seamline and I'm jumping for joy at the just enough lower, sexier neckline. YAY! And the kittens!! 💕💕 They didn't exactly steal the show but they were definitely starring in it. Thanks for this inspiring video. xo karen
I'm glad this worked for you! I don't even wear sweatshirts that I can't cut the neck band off of. I have found that cutting outside the hem gave me a sweatshirt that barely stayed on.
Diana.... are we sisters of different mothers??? I have been cutting my clothes since I was 18. My trick is--- I never tell anyone... and wait for compliments. Ive "trained" my daughter to be brutally honest. So if anything I've customized is awful... she always let's me know it time to toss it! You & I know... this is the way to have a unique wardrobe. YOU GO GIRL ❤❤
“That’s not necessary.” Oh my goodness; that’s the deep optimism of a true cat lover. Hope always there that maybe this time they will forget that they are cats, and listen!! So as an aside, I do the same thing to the bottom of sweatshirts - I don’t like the tight band at the bottom, so I cut it off just on the band side of the seam. Makes the sweatshirt glide over the hips!
Loved that red jacket at the end and I’m going to borrow it! The kittens are SO cute! Thanks for sharing a fun way to change your look without needing a sewing machine
New sub here, liked this one a lot! So simple changes made such a huge difference 🤩 loved the artsy dress😍 I'd wear it with a bit chunkier black boots, loose faux fur and a cute black beanie and a bigger scarf. Perfectly colorful for a chilly November days 😊 Pls always include the kittens 😻😻
It is a lovely dress, and perfect with the short boots... Well French women don't particularly wear berets... This beret is pulling the black from the dress and goes well together. The cats.... and the curtains!

I thrifted a fabulous mink coat and cut off the sleeves to make a vest. Or have my seamstress finish it. It had huge shoulders so must have been from the 1980s. In terrific condition, can't wait to wear it. XOX
I cut the ribbing off ALL my clothes, eg sweatshirts, big tees, as soon as I get them home. Yup. Cut them off the neckline and sleeves and around the bottom. They’re twice as comfortable that way and 10x more classy.
I have been known to cut my clothes! As of late, it has been to make the awful T-shirts my school makes us wear the first week of school. I use a cutting mat, ruler and cutting wheel that quilters use to get precise lines. The shirts end up as split v-neck. I also cut the sleeves above the hem so the material rolls up. I do the same thing to adjust the length of the shirt and then french tuck into high waisted jeans. So many women ask me how I do it because they also hate the ugly T-shirts 😂
I thought you would use the black scarf as a belt on the first dress--it would work! You certainly have a great eye for this! As a seamstress, I would be more hesitant...😅
