Fabulous video Diana. I would say the Fiona scarf I purchased from your shop, is like a rich aunt staple. I wrap that around my neck, put on with a cashmere V neck sweater, jeans and knee high boots.. voila it is a fantastic look! ❤ 🧣
I'm 70 and your videos (like this one and Queen Badies) really help me re-imagine some of my "rich aunt" clothing...making my look feel more modern (and less like I pulled something from my closet that Iactually wore 40 years ago-which i did!) I have an ancient, Oleg Cassini Black Tie sequin jacket that I'd like to put back into rotation. And I need it to read more casual and more edgy. I'll have to try it with one of my Harley Davidson t shirts...
😊That sounds fabulous! Like edgy & pushing things a bit, but when I looked up inspo online💻 the examples under that category felt too extreme😳. Too much like some over blown caricature. Lots of leather layers. Frankly, many of the looks simply felt too over the top & costumey for me😂. My edgy speed💨 is much more Allie McGraw in 🎞Love Story. Cleverly mixing her masculine blue collar roots & sporty BF Harvard📣 gear w/preppy Ivy League femininity⚖️. 🪖Do dig a touch of military elements. A cropped feminine lady jacket w/military style gold insignia & epaulets mixed w/a down to earth razorback ribbed tank. Combat boots juxtaposed w/an ankle length a-line or straight skirt. 😉There's nothing like an anti-establishment piece such as a classic graphic concert tee to dial down⬇️ the drama & formality of ✨️sequins✨️. 🤔Think 💎bedazzled items can marry well w/ordinary workhorse pieces like cotton, jersey, flannel, buffalo check button downs, corduroy, & denim too. Merging working class practicality w/great aunties designer duds brings a flippant 🎸glam rock 'tude. 🎉Oleg Cassini created some remarkable garments in his heyday. Ironically, my mother was the rich aunt and her name was Miriam. She passed away two years ago and I kept many items from her wardrobe. I am practicing to be the rich aunt to my nieces. ❤
These outfit styling videos are my favorite!!! They always remind me of how I used to dress - up until I had kids, moved to the suburbs and became utterly boring. Re-finding myself again over the last few years and your videos are helping.
I have a "rich aunt" jacket that I thrifted years ago in case I needed to get fancy but decided it looked to old and never wore. after seeing this video I searched and found it so time to try to style it! 😊
I have an aunt, she isn’t rich but she was helping a friend clean out a deceased relative’s home. They said she could have anything she wanted. Well, she did find a cute Gucci bag and she gave it to me. It is a floral spring style and I love styling it for spring events. Like Easter parties or weddings.
Well I do like the pearl extravaganza you have going on quite a lot … very “Daisy” in the Great Gatsby…your combinations are very surprising. I also liked the tunic dress with the black turtleneck and boots and tights. It has a 1960s beatnik - coffeehouse vibe on its own. Also the green leather mini … A white collar shirt over it or a chunky short crop off the shoulder sweater (kind of Flashdance) would be fun. I may have to Gatsby my own closet…❤🎉thank you!
Not the right video to leave this comment...but... I found a mustard velvet jacket in a thrift store and never wore it.... really I had bought it because I loved the colour and the fabric....well....after watching you video on cutting things up, I turned it onto a beautiful little regency style Spencer jacket and I LOVE IT! 💛

It took me a long time to be ok with being tall but I watched Alice In Wonderland at some point and realized that she looked really cool when she was big, and I've felt okay with it ever since! But you're right, that there's an awful lot of cute clothes that are too short for me to wear. Oh well!

However, I did get told off by a French woman online for suggesting that different generations of French women would take the same cardigan and just style it differently. I guess cardigans are just nor French Girl Style - but I still love them - probably because I am a Brit.
This has been very encouraging because I have a huge orange coat just like that, which I thrifted, and some plaid wool pants, and a black sweater with pearls. In all cases I thought - will I wear it? My choices have been validated!

This is so much fun, dear Diana. I love that green leather piece on you. Maybe just shorten it a bit to be a great little top? Lovely over some black velvet slim pants and even with the pearl cardigan on top. Go for it. Aunt Miriam would approve. Mine was an Aunt Sylvia, although she was not great at gifting. That Liz Claiborne plaid thing looks a bit like an apron Aunt Sylvia had. Sorry, can't get that image out of my head. But you are wonderful. Smart, funny and so very pretty. A gem.

I was in jacket heaven though - and I loved auntie’s trousers, which I didn’t expect 😂. Fab session, thanks.

@@sheenadenae3156 😊Yes, I too thought Diana rocked the man plaid pants. In the end, I believe she beautifully feminized them.

Where on earth do you find thrift stores with such upscale merch? Could you do a whole episode about that?
LA!!
Got a bit of Marla Singer vibe. Which is fine by me.
@marylhere she's cool! Definitely baby queen baddie territory!
I don’t think anything can save that green dress - maybe cut it in half? The plaid tie dress would make excellent cleaning cloths. I didn’t like the other leather leggings and skirt combo either 😮 Ditch the skirt and keep the red shirt and leggings? I was in jacket heaven though - and I loved auntie’s trousers, which I didn’t expect 😂. Fab session, thanks.
Where oh where does one find a sheer turtleneck?
@@sinclairlanier4081 I tagged some in the tagged products section of this video!
@@unblahyourself Thanks!!!
@@unblahyourself Feeling kinda dorky admitting this, but I don't see a tagged products section. I see your unblah store, skin care, makeup, and quince. I must be missing something...
Oh don't feel bad about it. It's a new feature. Look in the lower left hand corner of the video. There's a little shopping bag.

I adore cardigans, so I'm going to have to disagree with you in that one (grin). Loved all the pearls.

Or 71, I lived in NY in the 70’s!
Such a fun video Diana.. I am so glad you said no to the "tuck one side of your shirt in" look. That is the most ridiculous, contrived style and it needs to disappear now.
I also can't stand tucking just the front in. I'm all or nothing!
I'm sitting here chuckling to myself that we care so much about tucking but I DO! 🤣
Contrived is a perfect word!
I am the RICH auntie!
Hi Diana,
I love your content and would be thrilled to explore a potential collaboration with you! Could you share the best way to get in touch?
Looking forward to hearing from you!
Green leather mini dress with tights and cardigan!!!! super sexy !! Love it!
You covered up the chartreuse dress completely, so why bother with it?
It's going to peek out when you move, not be a constant star of the show.
And I so agree with the half tucked in and half hanging out- not a good look! Just stop ✋ lol
Anyone here know the David Kibbe system? Hit thumbs up if you think she’s a flamboyant natural….
In the Jennifer Butler system she is a Dramatic Winter
@ How interesting! I haven’t heard of that one!
Kibbe is mostly based on the skeleton-dramatic, natural, classic, gamine, and romantic. A sharp and soft version of each.
But I’ll look for a video on the system you mention
@@annalynn9325 Jennifer Butler Color used to have several videos on Vimeo. She lives in LA, I think Lucerne Ave but it's been years since she styled me. She often had events at her home.
There’s no way I’m convinced that you are 47.
