My previous comment was a reaction to Aaron's observations. I didn't actually see the series yet. I am up to episode 6 at this point. With Aaron's review in mind, I approached the series as an Elseworld or What If? story. All the changes that I will encounter will be because they are in another universe and time (1940's). I'm watching it as if I were reading Red Son or Gotham by Gaslight. I am enjoying it. It's well acted for the most part, well drawn and depicted, and a great atmosphere of 1940's Earth with 1940's technology. Good writing too. I'm enjoying it just taking the changes they made and finding the different take interesting. I won't get too specific as not to spoil anything. It's not lore, nor meant to be. I am a BATMAN fan since the 1950's, I know lore. Watch it with an open mind with the Multiverse in mind. Thanks for your time. .. Bat Toast

I just finished Batman: Cape Crusader season 1 and the very last episode teases The Joker for season 2. Even gives a slight glimpse into what he's gonna look like. From what I saw, he looks creepy and I can't wait.
Also I wish they kept the characters the same I'm really tired of woke Hollywood just like the female penguin it's no need for that they can probably do the characters swapped later or in a elsewhere just saying keeping it (original)😊

In the comic book medium, Superman can land in Russia, the Waynes weren't murdered and WW is a cold blooded killer. Yet, everyone understands that it's an Elseworld's story and thus, is supposed to be different from the established continuity. It's a new take on those characters and their world. But change a character's skin color, and all that understanding goes out the window! It's almost funny.
The devil has taken over on everything we like, poor G-Z don't know what they have missed. All this agendas are stupid and unnecessary. GOD wins in the end 😊❤

I review stuff first and skip past any g a y stuff, is there something so bad he should see in this? My best friend is watching it with his 5, 7 and 8 year old....why? Because his kids also llve batman. We're great parents dude, I do everything with my son, we read and work on his writing everyday, we swim every other day. Batman isn't hurting him one bit and I completely approve him watching this (minus the kissing scene that we will skip).

Man, i really love your channel - you're great. That said i got somethings to point out about this review and show. Batman and Selina kiss, they're straight and white. Selina is not evil just misguided. Alfred Pennyworth is for sure a hero evenmore so than Bruce sometimes and he's white too. The most proeminent enemy/antagonist in this series is Arnold Flass and he's black man and crocked mean cop. I don't see this animation beign "too progressive" or forced in that regard. It's a human drama in the Detective Comics classic style kind of a noir, and they struggle somewhat like in real life but also this is an elseworlds so the characters need to be different and stood on their own and i think they did a good job in that. I really hope you give this show a second chance in a rewatch and season two. It's a more mature ton and nothing like marvel and that's refreshing. I hope Bruce Timm and companie get even better at the script. About Batman monotone he's reminding me of a light sociopath probably cause of his traumatic past as a way of cope. Keep up with the great work my friend, and thanks in advance for anyone reading my opinion in this comment - i'm open to civil polite debate on the series.
My favorite animated series is the early 2000s The Batman...great series and the toys were awesome too, too bad McFarlane isn't giving those toys any love...havent seen any remakes of those toys, such a shame. But this new series, nope...won't watch it, have no desire especially what they've done to it

I agree with some of this but overall this show I thought it was amazing. At first seeing The Penguin I was weirded out… but by the end I felt it worked. I thought the guy who played Batman reminded me of Conroy a bit and his Bruce Wayne was pretty cool reminded me of Bales Bruce Wayne.
IMO, at first I was hesitant about it with the rewriting of characters, not the gender/race swapping, but the new designs/iterations of these characters until I read somewhere that stated that Bruce Timm wanted to make this show as different as possible from the predecessor that came before which was BTAS. One example is Harley Quinn, He said that He wanted Harley to be different than her original counterpart by making her silly as a psychiatrist and dark and serious as Harley Quinn.

The excuses of multiverse or Elseworlds didn't help it either as these changes are not even what Elseworlds is about. I knew Gunn would confuse people with this when he made his Elseworlds comments during his DCU announcement. I'm an open-minded person, but get sick of this stuff as well. Kids want to watch these shows. They gender swapped Heat Wave in My Adventures with Superman, and Heat Wave and Live Wire share a lesbian kiss. Yeah, watched that with my seven year old daughter.

Ive watched only about half the season so far. Had more potential. My favorite was ep 2 so far i thought that was a great episode. Some are hit or miss there is a good amount of woke unfortunately. Alot that didnt make sense especially for 1940. Dont care at all for the harley quinn. Overall so far id probably say 6.5/10 would be great if they focused on making great batman story instead of dei so heavily could be potential here. But not holding my breath. Last dc project i hold some hope for is penguin.
The only problem with this show for me is the gender, race and ethnicity swapping instead of creating new characters and what happened with blondes? They are not good enough anymore most main female characters are brunnette.
I'm actually surprised that Batman retained his male whiteness! It's just a matter of time. ;) Gender and race swapping aside, I did enjoy it, but...a far cry from the original TAS greatness!
I strongly disagree with some of your takes. But I do find these episodes boring, overall. I don’t mind them trying new approaches, or looking at things from different perspectives. But I thought the creators just didn’t execute their vision well at all. You’re far too kind with your 3 out of 5 rating. At best, I give this a 2 out of 5. No plans on revisiting either. This is indicative of how the DC-WBD tandem has been free falling in recent times. 😴😴😑😑😑. What a disappointment. To those who haven’t watched any of the episodes yet, lower your expectations folks. The 90’s animated series was far superior.

The tone was terrible…didn’t feel the intensity, seriousness, Batman’s passion, you don’t feel attached to Batman so you don’t care that he is in danger. I can watch the old Batman cartoon every year and still be like “dammit Batman get out of there before it’s too late!” 😊

Ive watched only about half the season so far. Had more potential. My favorite was ep 2 so far i thought that was a great episode. Some are hit or miss there is a good amount of woke unfortunately. Alot that didnt make sense especially for 1940. Dont care at all for the harley quinn. Overall so far id probably say 6.5/10 would be great if they focused on making great batman story instead of dei so heavily could be potential here. But not holding my breath. Last dc project i hold some hope for is penguin.

The only problem with this show for me is the gender, race and ethnicity swapping instead of creating new characters and what happened with blondes? They are not good enough anymore most main female characters are brunnette.

I strongly disagree with some of your takes. But I do find these episodes boring, overall. I don’t mind them trying new approaches, or looking at things from different perspectives. But I thought the creators just didn’t execute their vision well at all. You’re far too kind with your 3 out of 5 rating. At best, I give this a 2 out of 5. No plans on revisiting either. This is indicative of how the DC-WBD tandem has been free falling in recent times. 😴😴😑😑😑. What a disappointment. To those who haven’t watched any of the episodes yet, lower your expectations folks. The 90’s animated series was far superior.

The tone was terrible…didn’t feel the intensity, seriousness, Batman’s passion, you don’t feel attached to Batman so you don’t care that he is in danger. I can watch the old Batman cartoon every year and still be like “dammit Batman get out of there before it’s too late!” 😊
The polar aspect is twice better than the batman
Watching it. It's lacking some fun, even Bullock was quiet. Grim for the sake of it. 😊A lack of presence in the writing. I really crave Batman Beyond but we know who put a temporary revival of that away. Matt Reeves has his name on this now, not a good look.
I could hardly even finish episode 1 and it left me no interest in watching the rest of the season. I didn’t feel this as a full on Bruce Timm vision.
Almost every character had black hair. I think i only saw two blonds. How did you determine who was white, Italian, or any other race? Of course, you had to make this about race!why do you feel you have to defend white people ? Never mind, I almost forgot who I was talkin to. I liked the show, and race/gender swapping did not affect the story at all.

Great review, but this almost makes me not wanna watch it… sick and tired of all the agenda stuff being forced into the beloved IP’s. I was really siked for this show, but I think they ruined it for me. These race/gender swap things need to stop.
