    I love your calm voice! I grew up this way, and absolutely love the homesteading life. I live in deep S Texas now...weather is very different with gardening but I'm learning to make it work. I do a lot of solar cooking including baking bread! with a Haines 2 cheap solar cooker. I love knowing God helps me cook. 😄 I also really appreciate you really scraping the honey out of the cup...it drives me crazy when UA-camrs leave a lot behind....I know they are trying to speed it up for the camera but I hate the waste!! 😆 Silly, I know. Learning a lot about sourdough. Got my baby starter going...waiting for a bit to be mature enough to bake with. Thanks!

    So much new information for me. I know going back and watching your older videos will answer my questions. These videos are so interesting. I already know your easy sour dough recipe is the one for me. Never tried sour dough bedore, as I do not like all the specific weighing, counting, duplicates of rising , just not for me. Thanks.😊

    I love water kefir! My technique is a little bit different but I am sure the results are the same. I have not had homemade milk kefir yet since my gut doesn’t do milk products very well. Even yogurt is hard on me. I’m a new sourdough maker and so far I’ve have liked the bread and your cracker and pancake recipes.I just found your channel not too long ago when looking for sourdough recipes. Thank you so much for your help in my sourdough journey. Take care.

    I have w very modern kitchen and it’s overflowing and I don’t have half your tools.
    Half of mine lives in the guest bedroom.
    My husband bought me an extra shelf for Christmas, but I’m still storing flour and sugar etc in the bedroom.

    Looking forward to the new bread recipe. Wanted to let you know I took your advice on the stress mat for the floor in the kitchen. I’m very limited on how long I can stand and walk with my health issues. Upside:
    With switching to fresh
    milled wheat breads I feel so much better.

    • @TheRoseHomestead
      @TheRoseHomestead  4 місяці тому

      Kefir is a fermented drink. There is milk kefir and water kefir. Basically, the milk kefir is fermented milk using milk kefir grains. Water kefir is fermented sugar water with water kefir grains. They are both full of probiotics.

    With that Weck jar, do you find that if you put the glass lid on without the rubber seal that it will allow in enough oxygen for when you are feeding and activating your sourdough starter? (I feel kind of guilty getting such luxurious jars, but I couldn't help myself and they'll be arriving tomorrow!)

    Why do you make kefir milk? What is the benefit? How does it taste? I'm not a milk drinker (no reason just don't think to drink it). I have a bad gut and I eat what I make, can, freeze, etc. and yogurt or probiotics everyday.

    • @TheRoseHomestead
      @TheRoseHomestead  4 місяці тому +1

      Milk kefir is essentially fermented milk. It is full of gut healthy probiotics and is a wonderful source of protein. I don't drink regular milk much at all but love smoothies made from milk kefir. My gut has been a mess for most of my adult life so I try to consume at least 2-3 fermented foods everyday to help it out.

    I have a question in regards to using Unbleached all purpose flour and Unbleached Bread flour. What is the difference in these two flours?

    • @TheRoseHomestead
      @TheRoseHomestead  3 місяці тому

      Bread flour has a higher protein amount and will make a higher loaf usually. It seems to develop gluten a bit faster as well.

      Kefir is a fermented drink made with either milk or water. The 2 use different types of grains that you put in either the milk or water to ferment it and make a gut healthy drink.
