So many comments about the guitar being out of tune. OK fine but guys- go listen to some Porcupine Tree. ANY Porcupine Tree. Easily one of the best prog bands of the last 20 years. The songwriting is fantastic. Steven Wilson is an amazing artist.
Sad world when all people care about is a pedalboard review of an artist. Steven Wilson is a self taught music composer, producer, and studio engineer. Multi instrumentalist, has worked with some of the most amazing musicians in the world, recorded masterpieces along his discography and the only thing people care about is this 9 minute pedalboard review. Trust me. To those who have witnessed seeing him live, his songs and performances are always flawless in every way.
He is an amazing musician ,composer etc. and plays with some of the best players anywhere.I am not a huge fan of him but his talent is undeniable. His band is awesome.
What's so sad about it? Guitar players like gear and want to see how different players use them. If you want to know about the players it's not like there aren't plenty of interviews and articles that cover them. it's not a strictly one or the other scenario.
Apparently, you don't get it. This kid is a Brit. His Muses are All Raw Power. Pete, Neil Young, Tony Iommi. Never heard of him before this. Guess what? This Kid is The Stuff. The Real Deal. Look at John's face...he is Loving it. Get with it. Rock and Roll is Here to Stay.
Gotta love the tuning police comments here. Who gives a shit, it's a rig rundown not a performance. You should feel privileged to get insight in to the rig of someone so revolutionary in his approach and commitment to his craft. Tone is subjective but it's the thought behind it that matters.
I actually have all my delay and reverb before my fuzz/distortion pedals as well. You get all kinds of different harmonics and sounds than you would going about it the "normal" way.
Hey ! How about you do your thing and respect this Man doing what works. I never heard him of him before this vid, But I will Tell You, He got it. Rock is Raw Power. Perfection does not exist. You think Yngwie Gives a Shit. The power, the music comes from your Heart, Your Soul. Apparently you are not aware of John Lee Hooker, The Rolling Stones, Donovan, The Kinks, The Who. man that's the clean channel?? with all that noise?? Again with ALL Due Respect Sir.

@Toxic Potato Actually, for those of us with perfect/strong relative pitch, it is. It keeps us from being able to enjoy this. I had to stop watching fairly quickly myself and I doubt I'm alone.
Clearly a polarizing video... big fan of porcupine tree and his solo stuff. My my we've all gotten a little bit precious about ambient sound or hum or hiss, etc etc haven't we? When this came out I didn't even notice it was out of tune, and didn't particularly bother me this time around either. I'm pretty sure my rig circa 1987 would have produced convulsions.... abominably noisy, and didn't have a tuner. Come to think of it I didn't know anybody with a tuner back then? However I bought one once they became affordable! A question for the horde... why precisely in a live setting are you concerned about hiss and hum so much? Playing unreasonably loud rock and roll to probably intoxicated punters who don't hear anything once the drums kick in, not once have I ever had a civilian comment on the mix being a bit noisy... I'm not being a d*ck here, I'm genuinely interested.
Quizás si es que este guacho se esfuerza y trabaja mucho, algún día puede ser como los expertos y super estrellas hablando mierda sobre él en este post XD (El detector de sarcasmos explotó) XD

Perhaps the least “listenable” Rig Rundown ever. Was there a tuner on that noisy board?
I was going to make a tuner joke too. Sorry, that rig just didn't do anything for me. Tuning may have been a factor.
💯
I’m pretty sure a tuner would do some good. Yikes.
Jeff Diltz I agree! The most important pedal! Even if you rely on a tech to tune for you-nothing sounds good out of tune.
Yup. The constant bar fondling and the diamond pedal didn't help.
and a noise gate too
What you need first in the loop is a tuner ...🙏🏼
