I have a son with Autism who's aptitude lies with music & maths. He loves Buddy Guy, having first seen him play with BB King. I am so grateful for having kids with musical taste. Quinn Sullivan has provided a real bang up-to-date role model for my son given him purpose, an outlet for his emotions and kept his tusch away from gangs & off the South London streets for which I'll be eternally grateful. We are off to see Buddy Guy tomorrow.....can't wait!
Listening to him now- and this is a tribute to Buddy making him listen to ALL the masters- his own style is an astounding blend of Buddy, Jimi, Eric, Albert King, B.B., SRV, Albert Collins, and more. ALL players take pieces from many influences, but Quinn is almost like a guitar version of Rich Little. He flows in and out of distinct styles from measure to measure. Each getting the respect they deserve while also becoming part of his own sound. It is a testament to both his gift AND Buddy's guidance. Somewhere on UA-cam there is a video of these two on stage from around the same time as this recording- where Buddy literally throws out names of legends and Quinn steps into their styles in real time. Pure magic.
Unbelievable! Saw Quinn last nite in Markham Ontario Canada! It was such a bonus to see his Producer/Drummer/Songwriter Tom Hambridge sing his "Happy Blues Song....The Upside of Lonely"..... also bonus to hear his (and Buddy Guys) Keyboardist do a long solo just poundin' the keys!
Just loved Buddys comment "young people make the world go around" How very true! Quinn when are you coming to Australia to tour around this great land of ours?
The Master has been mastered by Quinn. Prince would be smiling too to see this performance. Buddy Guy is amazing and has been inspiring young folk for many years to come.
This kid's positively incredible! The post from Paul is dead on accurate. The amazing Buddy Guy has found someone to carry out his legacy. Quinn is what 16 year's old in this video? Most 16 year olds don't know what the "Blue's " are. Much less who Buddy Guy is.
I say Buddy Guy with Quinn Sullivan in Northampton Mass. Tonite he is one hell of a player he plays with a feel of that impressed me. I recommend seeing him along with Buddy Guy. The only thing is he lacks the little linger bend and length holding on certain solos. But godamn he is unbelievable. A new a bluesman has arrived on the scene check him out
Quinn starts his solo with a note-perfect tribute to Clapton's style and then goes frantic in a tribute to Buddy Guy's wild style. Not everyone that pull that off so well. Kudos, Quinn!
I caught that too. Pure magic.
Finally, after watching 6 or 7 Quinn/Buddy vids, I finally heard a Song. No question that they are both genuine geniuses, but guitar riffs do not a song make. They are supposed to accent, raise, promote the existing beauty of a tune. This, in my opinion, is why the Great Buckethead will always be sideshow to other fabulous talents. No one wants to hear an hour long concert of amazing riffs with no connectivity. That's why they leave the fat lady to sing at the end.
Buddy has be show casing Quinn since he was a kid ( i mean KID) and just hearing Quinn saying " When I first heard the master Buddy Guy" Folks if you are on this you tube vid i am sure you love old school RnB/Jazz. Go buy Quinn's music...support what you wanat to hear on radio and not download it freee from some pirate site. If its not bought its not heard on radio as they don't think we want to hear it.
OHH and by the way detractors he wrote the song.... when he was like 11 ..... dont know what you were doing when you were 11 , cant tell you what I was doing but at least I know it was mine.....btw was playing guitar also still trying to learn purple haze :)
Kid is great no doubt. Guess I'm gettin old....wait, AM old but not a fan of the "Back to the Future" riff. Keep it clean young blues dude, you're too good to need that. First evening to listen to ya....was rewatching SRV sound check video, for 50th time, and you showed up below. So how can you be this good and I ain't heard of ya? Stevie Ray left void that can't be filled but if I wuz you with your talent I might start covering some of his stuff. Watch for my comments, I have an old Gibson from 1957 I might gift to ya. Got magic in it and I can't do it justice. Neck got broke in a bar fight in Memphis round 1960. Old black dude I got it from said belonged to "some famous feller" but he couldn't remember who. I think a wizard reattached the neck...ain't pretty but plays like magic. In the right hands. I've been personal security for many of rich, famous and guitarists and let many of them play it just to hear it. All of them offered to buy it but hard to let magic go even if you can't work the spells. Ask around and see if you can find somebody that remembers this guitar and the fight. I've lost 99% of my contacts and took different path. Hope to hear you play in person.....I'll bring the guitar if that happens. L8r. Accelerator rick
Six time Grammy winner and guitar legend Buddy Guy spoke with us in a very entertaining interview back in 2001. We covered some amazing topics, including the release of Sweet Tea, exploring Mississippi, bringing in new fans, and creating new music! ua-cam.com/users/edit?video_id=a1qhEYP7b9A
I have his albums ..I don't know why they don't let him play his guitar like this o his cds..little blues more pop his cds are ..just let him play like this..stop trying to make him a pop star...with short songs and catchy hooks...I'd rather have less songs but LONGER songs so he can stretch out and play..whoever produces his records needs a kick in the as ..your holding him back
HE IS VERY COMFORTABLE WITH THE NECK WHERE IT IS NOW SECOND NATURE TO HIM. HE WILL BE TOTALLY POLISHED NOT LONG FROM NOW. IF HE CAN GET SOME PERSONALITY AND ATTITUDE HE WILL BE AS BIG AS SRV WHERE IT ALL DEPENDS ON THE MATERIAL. TYPICAL BLUES RIFFS WONT BE ENOUGH.
ok .. he's an awesome player....later on he will be able "spew" the blues.. he hasn't lived enough.. experienced enough,, hes mastered the technique but when he has the "heart" and sound,, that's the blues.. it doesn't come together at once, well atleast it isn't in his sound ,, all at once.. IMO.. He's grand standing.. get low instead of high... it's not the Star Spangled Banner.. JMO.. awesome talent,, no doubt,, but true country and blues comes from living ,, and heart aches.. the pains and the gones..
Lu Wright let me try to quote the late Albert King. Everybody understands the blues, are you with me. Everybody understands the blues. You take that little baby lying in the baby bed. He can't get to that milk bottle fast enough. He goes on crying and hollering and tearing up his little baby bed. He got the blues, that's whats wrong with him.

Buddy Guy was one of SRV's mentors. This kid could be another SRV if he decides to go that direction.

If somehow this young man can stay off drugs and alcohol, it's just possible we can have us another Gary Moore.

u sound very good without distortion ..when u with distortion u cant control urself
Jimi is that you in there?

I thought the same thing, which is why I didn’t buy his record
Turning him into a pop star turned me off
4:02 first thing i learned on guitar
Stevie Ray Vaughan is BACK!!
I think he actually picked up the guitar at 3

Last time I saw him at Ellen's Show.
He better be careful to not join the 27 Club, cuz it looks like he's on his way there. Well done!
I hope that guitars is over 18
call me when he writes a catchy hit
