I was a dance teacher and always had mommas doing cleaning and such for me. I was so glad I could. I loved dance and my mother gave piano lessons to pay for my dance classes. I had one grandma who paid for her grand daughter's lessons with fish. She was good at fishing and occasionally brought me a fish. Her grand daughter was a beautiful dancer. I never got rich, but I was rich in the most wonderful students, many of whom I am still in touch with and it has been twenty five years since I last taught a class.
My mother cleaned the house of an art teacher to gain me weekend art lessons at an institute. I was asked to leave for painting an apple black. My poor mom.
Flashback to all the times my dance teacher screamed “EVEN IF YOUR COSTUME FALLS OFF MID PERFORMANCE, IF IT MAGICALLY DISAPPEARS, YOU KEEP SMILING, YOU KEEP DANCING!” props to you and your coconut bra. Hardscorpsmemes aka professionalwalnut is hilarious. X
My shoe fell off mid performance once. I ended up whipping off the other one and flinging it off towards the wings because I was so uneven. 🤦♀️ But the face stayed frozen and the shoulders stayed back. Pretend like you know what you are doing!
It's kind of hilarious how us dancers are constantly checking out and complimenting eachother's feet but then the moment a person with a foot fetish pops into our DMs we are /disgusted/! Like, tbh sometimes I avoid telling guys that I'm a former ballet dancer just incase they get creepy about wanting to see my feet, but if I'm chatting with another dancer, I'll totally talk about and compare feet with them.
oh my god I danced with (and am still good friends with) the girl who lost her shoe onstage. I witnessed it in real time. cannot believe she made it into a reaction video lmaooo
Please share the video or the credits? I thought she was so good dancing through it, but barely see anything in this reaction video, and they give no acknowledgment of the original. :(
I watched a local Miss America pageant and one girl had a tap shoe coming flying off halfway through. She finished without the shoe and she laughed so hard at the end.
I’m so sorry but I’m absolutely living for the horror on Josephine’s face and the “this is what my UA-cam career has come to”. These videos are hilarious 😂
As much as I love seeing you do fittings, I have to admit that I am drawn to these tik tok videos in a perverse sort of way, and find them very entertaining (albeit, with the same reactions as you!). During this pandemic, I am finding amusement in new and different ways! Keep them coming!!
No wardrobe malfunction, but once the final curtain for the WHOLE show wouldn't close because I accidentally stuck my final pose on the way. My solution? Closed-fist punch the curtain out of the way, tutu and tiara - wearing and all. Then gracefully go back to the pose. Mom still brings out the tape from time to time. Good times lol
Something similar happened to me when I was a kid. The christmas play ended with everyone in pose, but I noticed that a ball fell from the christmas tree, so my toddler logic went something like this: The ball fell, I should pick it up. But I'm posing, I can't break the pose yet. So I proceeded to gracefully walk over the tree while posing, pick up the ball, hand it to my teacher and go back to my place. All this while everyone tought something else was about to happen in the play. And my mom still has the tape.
We had a student doing a pointe solo in competition and her shoe came all the way off her foot, but stayed tied around her ankle. She kept dancing and finished her solo with her shoe literally flying and spinning around her ankle. How she didn’t trip and fall on it, I have no idea. But she owned that stage with one shoe on and one halfway on and we were so proud of her 👏🏻👏🏻
When I was really young and had just started ballet, like 4, my mom couldn't find my actual ballet slippers for the performance so I had these little dress up slippers that I wore, tripped on stage in the middle of the dance, and managed to drag then entire group of dancers down with me (we were all holding hands) including the teacher on stage with us.
Surprisingly I’m jumping back into ballet after two years of not doing it (no teaching so just practicing my flexibility and what I knew) and after watching this series I am not scared to go back to ballet. I’m actually really excited and nervous cause my family is trying to find a different company than the one I used to be in.🤞🏼 that I find one I like
Bringing back memories of when I was eight and decided to mess with eyeliner five minutes before the performance. My hands were covered in the stuff and because our dressing room was on the other side of the theater my teacher had to wash my hands and then *RUN* all the way across the theater to get backstage. I made it literally seconds before we went on. I never touched eyeliner again.
I don't do ballet but I love your channel. It explains some of the realities of kids (and young adults who used to be kids...) who do ballet, and your laughter and care is just infectious (in the best way possible). So, here's to expressive everything, and please-oh-please to common sense! :) This was sort of fun, in a crazy kind of watching horror animation way.
We all have a costume nightmare story 😂 Mine was when I was 14. 3 dancers were wrapped in a huge veil and I was supposed to hold one end of the veil while they unwrapped themselves across the stage. Everything went well at rehearsal, but one day the veil fell at their feet, so they decided to attach it with a knot on one of their strap. Of course, the day of the show, in front of all the families, I wasn't able to undo the knot. It was recorded, and the camera zoomed on my poor embarrassed /pissed of face all along. I still feel the shame 14 years later 😂
This is hilarious. But I'm becoming increasingly concerned about the mental health of dancers in lockdown - it does seem that many are utterly losing their minds!

While I haven’t done ballet in literal decades (I’m a ballroom dancer!) I love watching your videos...and like a previous commenter, the train wreck of tiktok videos and you reacting to them is gold 😂
PSA I recently did a study on the evolution of point shoes for anyone interested. The modern box has only been around for a few decades in reality. The point t shoes originally came from a technique of ballet where the dancer would go onto full point as this got more and more popular, dancer would end up hurting their feet and were unable to perform so gradually adjustments were made, primarilyhardening the toe or stuffing the toe of the shoe. This only happened really recently tho. I recommend watching some clips of Vera Ellen in the 50s, she wears some really pointy shoes in a lot of videos. Even in the 80s and 90s most point shoes wouldn't have a full box.
No idea if you read your comments on past videos.. but your mom used to sell me all my dance supplies (even my first pair of pointe shoes)!! She is seriously such a great lady! I hope she's doing well
1:27 I had one of those when I was in drama a couple years back. I got to have a part with my friend and everything..! I then tripped on a prop while walking in stage, because of this, the two people I was on stage with had to help me get back to the wings and the whole time I was trying not to cry so I didn’t disturb the show.
My sister and cousin did ballet for years and were amazing at it! I guess my grandmother and mother both wanted me to try out as well. The lady who was I guess looking for more students were talking to them and were saying how well my cousin and sister are . . . but I was like a drunken walrus on stage in comparison. After seeing how my sisters feet got really bad I will take being a drunken walrus any day!
I've been doing ballet for 5 years now and I don't do point but why is it, that I can relate to this so much? HAHA I love the series, so please don't stop!

I have had the pointed point shoes when I was younger like 40 years ago they were fashionable but really very painful 😖 then they started to make them more square
Yes, I remember, when I was very new to pointe work, being sold a pair of pointe shoes with a tiny platform - not quite as bad as the one in the clip, but close. That was over 40 years ago. I got them home and couldn't dance in them. They were from a shop in London. I remember I went into the shop because they had a picture of Pavlova in the window and claimed to have made shoes for her. At the time, no one talked about needing different shoes for different foot shapes. After that I went back to my Freeds...
I have my mom's 1950s pointe shoes. They're considerably more tapered than today's shoes, but nowhere near as tapered as those customized ones. Something else very different from the 1950s: Mom took ballet lessons for 2 years, and went on pointe in her 2nd year. 10 years later, when she was a schoolteacher, she showed her old pointe shoes to her class. They urged her to put on the shoes and go up on her toes. She did, and tore a muscle, and had to hobble around on crutches for a month.

My old dance teacher would always test us the week before a competition, he would act as the judge and mark us. One of the things I remember him telling us the most is to keep smiling the whole performance.
I’m not actually a dancer but I am a theatre kid, so basically once, I was in my school’s musical and it was our 2nd night performing and it was right after one of the songs and I forgot my lines and there was just a 40 second long pause until I remembered my line!

1:26 i'm not a dancer but im in theatre, and when i was in shrek, we had an open dress rehearsal, where i had like 3 voice cracks in a ROW... they also spelled my first and last name wrong in the program
I never really had a costume malfunction when I danced but when I performed in the nutcracker at like 8? I was a bonbon and during one of the performances the guy in the giant skirt and stilts (I forget what that character was called but it’s mother something) stepped on my toe at the beginning of the dance before I came out from under the skirt. It hurt pretty bad and I almost cried but I still went out and performed the dance. I cried to my mom afterword though while also kinda bragging that I managed to dance while in pain😂 I was very proud of myself for pulling through
1:32 For me it was that my skirt fell off onstage in the middle of a show 🤣 I had a unitard on under it and when I cartwheeled offstage (that was my exit) I grabbed my skirt while I was upside down 😂😂😂
Once, my ballet presentation was about Beauty and The Beast and I was Horloge (the clock) but I still was dancing the group dances with my classmates. So I danced 2 group dances (The Village People and the Wolves) and 1 solo... My solo was right after the Wolves dance (which we had like fur anklets) and I had like one minute to change clothes. So I came in stage, do a scene as Horloge and then my teacher calls me from the side of the stage and tells me I still have my fur anklets DRESSED LIKE HORLOGE!
talking about your mom's store unlocked a memory! when i was on vacation in san diego six-seven years ago, it was at the HEIGHT of my trina days and i made my family drive out to the nearest dance store, which i believe was dancer's choice!! i got a beautiful natalie brand leotard that i wore the life out of

I have been doing ballet for 8 years and in 2 years I will be on demi pointe (thats what they do before point in my ballet) and I'm so excited to go on pointe!
My old dance teacher would always test us the week before a competition, he would act as the judge and mark us. One of the things I remember him telling us the most is to keep smiling the whole performance.
As someone who has never done ballet😂😥, your videos are so interesting to watch!🥰😍
I like watching you react to things... I'm not even a dancer. I just like learning about things!
God bless y’all and have a great day!!!!✝️🥰🤍🌈
These videos are my religion. Please make more of these ❤🤣
Joesphine watching ballet tiktoks is my only joy in life right now. Its really friggin Funny though

I love these videos
Because I'm starting to prepare my ankles and stuff for point
I have nevet taken a dance class, but I love ballet. Your reaction to these videos is why I subbed.
I have no interest in ballet but her laughter and joy make me laugh and feel happy so I subscribed anyways😂🥰
I’m not actually a dancer but I am a theatre kid, so basically once, I was in my school’s musical and it was our 2nd night performing and it was right after one of the songs and I forgot my lines and there was just a 40 second long pause until I remembered my line!
I’m a theater kid and in a dance number i fell
Why am I watching this? I've never danced in my entire life. But I love this and I want to dance ballet now.
I don't know how I ended up here, but I absolutely LOVE your laugh.
Started at part 6,working my way back 🤣
ok but the girl who kept dancing even though her shoe was falling off??? fucking LEGEND. definition of the show must go on.
omg can't these keep getting better and better you get me through these days
I don’t do ballet but recently I’ve been watching so many of these ballet tik toks

1:26 i'm not a dancer but im in theatre, and when i was in shrek, we had an open dress rehearsal, where i had like 3 voice cracks in a ROW... they also spelled my first and last name wrong in the program
Love it!! Yes I want a part IV, V, VI......
I cried to my mom afterword though while also kinda bragging that I managed to dance while in pain😂 I was very proud of myself for pulling through
I love this woman. Beautiful face terrific smile. I’m hooked and I have nothing to do with ballet and don’t remember how I got here.
I’m obsessed with your vids
I don't even do ballet, nor am I interested in doing it.
But I cannot stop watching this wonderful content, keep it coming :D
1:32 For me it was that my skirt fell off onstage in the middle of a show 🤣 I had a unitard on under it and when I cartwheeled offstage (that was my exit) I grabbed my skirt while I was upside down 😂😂😂
Ahhaha.. it brings back memories. My tutu skirt fell off and I had to keep dancing.. these are too funny😄
I can relate with the expenses of some sports! Riding horses, my sport, is so expensive like so expensive lol
talking about your mom's store unlocked a memory! when i was on vacation in san diego six-seven years ago, it was at the HEIGHT of my trina days and i made my family drive out to the nearest dance store, which i believe was dancer's choice!! i got a beautiful natalie brand leotard that i wore the life out of
Wow! This video was from 3 days ago!!! Yes, do part 4!!! I'm 13 and I got my first pointes yesterday!!!!!! I'm very happy and I can't wait to get startet!!!!
My disaster moment was when I did street dance and I piped my hip half why through a completion so yeah luckily I’m fine now I just had to lay down and cry for 30 minutes
Props to the first one though, to be able to keep dancing that well takes great skill, patience, and an unholy amount of pure, raw, luck.
Some of these will haunt me for forever and reoccur in my nightmares until who knows when🥲🥲🥲
Yes please part 4!!!!!
I was doing a jazz contemporary dance and the floor was slippery. I slid but good thing it was like I just sat on the floor. Hhaahhahaha the choreography was an instant floor work haha
