If you notice the filming.. You obviously have no interest in the content... I was just filming on the fly... not meant to be special.. just about the content!
***** thanks Alec. Im going to give this a try with 5160 this weekend with smith I met on the internet. Should be a good time. I do have one more possibly silly question though, was the eye punched center on center?
Alec, I am hoping to make a hammer similar to this one as my first attempt at making one. Could you recommend the starting dimensions of a peice this size? Or the size of drift I should try to make? I love your content, especially the new stuff but I love seeing Brian Brazeals techniques
can you demonstrate the mechanics or show more of your treadle hammer please? i have a special needs student and need to make something like this for them. thanks
I take it that the pointy hammer tool is being periodically dipped into something that will help stop what you're working on from sticking to it. Correct?
For the life of me I cannot get a plug to come out after I punch my object is it because my punch tip is to Sharp need to be more blunt? Any advice would be greatly appreciated

I am sorry in that case! I did not have much experience with the camera then!

A great teacher you had there!
Beeswax with suspended graphite!
Excellent video, you have talent! I watched it many times.
Thanks!
The great Brian Brazeal
...and I hear the Mississippi accent of the awesome Lyle Wynn
That's a tidy "power" hammer. Looks like an idea for the hobbyist, might you have any more footage of it Alec old buddy old pal? 😋
that apparatus is actually called a treadle hammer
What was the starting length of the metal? Love the video!! Watched it about 20 times already!!
3" :)
Thank you sir!

I like it.
What is Brian quenching (spelling?) his punch in? With it flaming up and all that.

LRM Pilcher bees wax and graphite is the mixture he uses if I am not mistaken.

Making a hole punch requires a hole punch?
+adam anthoni you could just as well use hot punch without the schtick. a blunt, tapered chisel if you will call it that
Man... he was 14 yo these days! hahaha loool
i like it, he is just a hater
I just love shaking, out of focus handheld video! Get a tripod.
Difficult to see the content, that's the problem.
nice but, how do you forge an eye punch without a punch ?
With a handheld punch and a hand hammer!
Go to a workshop or something or possibly make friends with another blacksmith and borrow their's if they have one
Just with a handheld punch.
