i was thinking the same thing when you said that some were complaining about your voice overs. they can go watch your ASMR videos if they dont like the voice over. great work on the cleaver. also when i use the dole method i cut the slot for the tang slightly under the thickness of the tang for a tighter fit up, but thats just how i do it

All you need is a heat source, a hammer, and something to hammer on. You could get away with a chunk of steel as long as you can secure it to something to keep it from moving around. The heavier the better. Many other countries take a solid round and put it in cement and forge on that. People are recourceful.

JP, lovely work. As far as the yapping, yap away! It's a learning experience and let's us know what is going on. Also, the variance of pattern is actually awesome, with the other steel you used for the center coming through gives it flavor as Damascus is not always the same on each side unless you used flat steel. It's a beautiful piece and you should be proud of it!

Thanks. I'm always proud of my work though I must admit I am very critical of my work. The last thing I want is a customer receiving the knife and thinking it isnt what they expected in quality. Ive seen all kinds of knives from different makers. None are perfect but the flaws i see in mine shine bright to me because i did them 🤣

I like how the core steel shows more on one side than the other, gives it that custom touch and some uniqueness to it. very cool!

That little uniqueness that custom knives have. That one of a kind.

Commentary is key! Unless everyone is a master bladesmith (which they are not 😂) explanation is important and lets us know what’s going on in your head 👍🏽
This is the first video I have seen of yours, and can’t wait to watch more of your content because I’m running out if Forged in Fire episodes to watch
    Thanks!

Yeah san mai build! Perfect mix as it give a nice style and good cutting edge.
As for voice over.... Majority of people in many channels said that they prefer when makers explain and share their issues and ideas of build, as we learn more that way.
What people DONT LIKE, and I saw that many times on discords is.... talking heads. No one like channels where guy slap camera on his face and ramble like drunk. No one like that. Show build process? Yep. Talk over issues and ideas of it and explain what you do? Yep. Make fun of people that post mean comments? Yep again as everyone love those :D

I also prefer to do commentary because all i have left is using music and that really isnt my style. So i choose commentary instead and its been fun to do ever since so i dont plan on stopping because a few people love to complain about having to watch it like someone has a gun to their head forcing them 🙃
