My parent got me a Russian wild caught from petco for me when I was like 7. Once i got older i realised this and felt bad but they didnt know better and he has a good life now but I hate supporting them

I believe the Egyptian is most closely related to the Marginated (odd, one is the smallest testudo and the other is the largest!). But biologically closely related in DNA. There was a thought to removing both from the testudo genus and putting into their own genus. I think the term pseudotestudo has been deemed invalid....? Roger, I think we may be fellow tort nerds. :)
Sad about the coyotes eating your tortoises. Our home is in the Mojave desert and know that coyotes will jump or climb that fence easily unless it's electrified.
We had a hot wire running but they were still getting through it (didn't seem to care). They can dig under a chain link fence in a few minutes. We eventually put in a short wall with block that's mortared on a footing with a 6 foot fence on top of that, around 8-9 feet tall now that they can't dig under, and so far nothing bigger than a small rabbit has gotten through that (cameras catch that kinda movement and alert us).

Hi, great Video. But the egyptian Tortoise is no Greek subspecies. the greeks are Testudo graeca, the egyptian is Pseudotestudo kleinmanni.
You are correct, in the video I said they were their own species, but I think Kenan misunderstood me and repeated that they were a Greek subspecies.
