Repair videos are like an elixir. Having damage like that, and Teal to fix it, is UA-cam gold. You ought to bang a few more chunks out. Maybe the bow? For me, it's far more interesting than watching you eating tacos etc. Anyhoo, glad all is well!
The guy admitted to his mistake, and tried to pay as much as he could. Humanity is flawed . Life is not perfect or fair. You guys are competent and self reliant, and you will fix it. You are incredibly generous to help the guy make up for his mistake. Great video.
Tried to pay as much as he could ??? Have to call BS on that ! He owns a boat, takes his friends out and has enough $ to buy gas and alcohol but not enough to cover the damage he is responsible for ??? Sounds like typical mexican attitude toward Americans ? Not all but I'd say a lot. With the marinas attitude, I'd have to put out a warning to avoid that marina.
So disappointing, glad you guys are okay. The true side of being a foreigner in some countries. You guys handled it with class and poise. Way to just drive on and get it done captain and crew!
A 'glass master' would know to wear a dust mask when using a multi tool to cut away fiberglass and sanding other parts.... Human lungs don't like epoxy..... Linh: "Your supposed to be wearing gloves".... yes and one day you will become so sensitized by the epoxy, you will start itch every time you are exposed to it is liquid form.
It is a pleasure to watch a craftsman an craftswoman in operation. Nothing phases you guys you just get on and sort it. I doubt if the repair will even be visible after you have finished. Great to see Teal and Linh work their magic yet again.
Being a craftsman for over 50 years, I'm really impressed how you did the repair with the limited space, and then how you dealt with the emotional part "It's just a bump in the road". Kudos Teal, and Linh great job !!
Hate that Basik was hurt, but enjoy watching the master craftsman work his magic in fiberglass and honeycomb. When you're done, no one will be able to tell it was ever damaged.
You both showed everyone the great characters in action under extreme conditions you both possess in abundance. Thanks for the calm example for those who follow your every move. Glad to be aboard with such fine company. 🐻🙏🇺🇸🇺🇸🇺🇸
I applaud you calm demeanor during a very frustrating and disappointing event. Kudos to all of you! Also, I really enjoy watching your travels. Great job!
I had two thoughts about 10 minutes in. 1) if this was gonna happen to someone, at least it happened to someone that is 100% capable of fixing it up. Teal is such a stud. and b) What a lesson for the youngster. Lots of parts to this issue to handle a bunch of different ways... And Emma is learning from some awesome role models!
Family is safe. Boat is above water. Items on board to fix this. Life lesson for a certain person who may be more careful in the future. Overall best possible option. You guys are doing it right. And we get to enjoy" thickened epoxy. "
I cannot imagine having that happen followed by the locals saying “not their problem.” The good part is that we (again) get to see Teal work his magic.
wow just wow....um so sorry this happened..so glad u were nt on the boat n no one was hurt..huggs to u all..just a speed bump..love how u handed things..to any mad pple in this crazy world today..nice way u went about things
I'm encouraged to see how you came to terms with what is ultimately a small issue. Your not going to lie on your death bed and cry about it!. As usual "the crew" will sort it out and move on. Great example to your daughter and us followers.
Forgive me Teal but really enjoy watching you work on Basik. I started watching at the beginning of The Great Plague and you guys helped keep me sane..ish.
I'm happy that guy ran into you because I got to watch an amazing video of a complicated repair being done in a simple yet genius way. People can lay words on you but I don't know if you understand what an inspiration your family is to us normals.
Just as I thought my day wasn't that great...job loss 6 months ago and still searching and I stumble on this LIFE LESSON. Thank you for showing us how to manage unexpected events. I'm sure you went through the motions of loss and despair but you showed us a calm rooted approach to solving a problem. The tools to fix most everything in life lives within each of us. Thank you for the inspiration.
I’m so sorry this happened to you but I’m glad my friend and I got to meet Teal & Emma we’re at the Marina pool. You and your family are so inspiring! I hope you got it all fixed in a reasonable timeframe and got to head on safely!
Wow!! Crap happens to the nicest people. At least he came back! Looking forward to the repair as I know you will be a perfectionist with this effort!! 😃
Truly impressed how you guys have worked through this adversity and kept your spirts high. It probably helps that Teal can basically build a blue water cruiser out of cardboard and thickened epoxy.
Hmmm not a bad repair using an Oreo cereal box template as your guide there Teal. Linh shuddered slightly as the sound of "Thicken epoxy" job filled the air. Upping the game once again. Emma is delighted with a week long stay with a pool to explore while her parents fix the boat. Compass is sorta like- Meh I've seen this routine before with the humans- just make sure you feed me later on. Cosmetic surgery while you wait for Basik. Such is life. Hurt but not injured beyond repair. It IS above the water line here. Glad you all are safe, the boat is still operational, just the principle of having this delay caused by a skipper under the influence in the marina. Beware of the bathtub helmsman when in a foreign port.
Anything can happen, but if there is alcohol involved there is no excuses. And doing such thing and just leave is nothing else than a real coward. I enjoined to see how you handled this 👍
Sorry to see your boat take another hit. I'm impressed, the yard stick idea was really good. My thought was to try and trace the other side, again experience and skill shows. I would be overwhelmed by this, Teal just gets right onto the repairs. At least you are in the country of good Tequila, "Thickened Epoxy"
So sad to see the damage some people leave behind, but I would have done the same you did Teal. Sorry for your boat, and it's just starting to look good as new as it was, Teal only a few people like you can make it look like it never had a problem, hopping to see the next, video of it. 👍👍
I would make “Captain Crunch” hold the umbrella over your head for the entire repair process. He shouldn’t get to go have fun while you fix his problems.
Yep - welcome to Mexico! And the way it is done, many places around the World is exactly as it done in Mexico. In Thailand, incredible as it sounds, personal injuries are handled in the same way. And Teal - you are amazing and it is very encouraging to hear the maturity expressed by Emma. Your parenting is really shining through!
I liked how you did the repair work. Although the visible damage was on the port aft, I'm sure you looked on the stbd side for scuff and cracking due to the impact of the other boat. I have to assume the side defenders took up the squish between the cat and dock. It would be a good idea to inspect your load bearing connections between hulls before going to sea again, and check it a few time after rough seas to see if the impact didn't stress your hull/create micro fractures. Thats the thing about collisions, impact in one area, can affect other areas of a boat. I know Teal would do a better job at repairs (from past episodes), I wonder what would of happened if the boat driver actually came over to do the repairs himself. Too often people are ready to just offer monetary repayment, when the right thing to do is to offer to do the repairs themselves.
I'm sorry to see such a fine boat damaged like that but with Teal on the job one would have no doubt to that the boat will be back to 110 %. The ruler WOW.... Genius is right. Great narration Emma. Always a pleasure hearing your talented voice. Well done everybody. xxx
Luckily the boater's "throttle sticking" (yeah right) didn't do more extensive damage. You both showed great restraint and character the way you handled the situation. Bravo Zulu to you both! Teal has MAD Skills and can fix it. Fair winds and following seas Basik.
Sorry that happened to you! Good attitude about it. Great that you have tbe skills and experience to fix the damage perfectly and timely. Hang in there.
I bet if the boat was owned by a Mexican citizen, the police would have been very involved and they would have paid for everything. Just reenforces how foreigners are treated in foreign countries. Surprised you even got the $300. You have a great attitude, not letting it ruin your trip. Myself, I would have been pissed off. Good thing you could fix it yourself, so you don’t get ripped off again. Enjoying the channel. Tks for sharing.
Teal, I have come to realize you are an ace at tackling most anything. The first project that I remember was the heating system you installed. But I think the hard cover over the cockpit rates right along side. I think you done a better job than the manufacturer or it would have been built that way. All three of you make a well oiled crew. My best regards. ⛵
That was horrible, I remember when I heard that you guys had got hit in La Paz I believe and I was like how are they gonna fix it? Then I was thinking why would someone decide to hit another boat that’s gotta be very low in the boat community?! Yet you guys pulled through because of your strong will and ability to not despair! -Jase, Nirvana

Yeah like he doesn't own a credit card...he was a POS trying to get away with it. I would have told him either pay up now in cash or my boat insurance will sue you in the US and it will cost you thousands more.
Good work! ^^ I suggest to get a pillow for teal something large enough with a rough/rubber undercoating so it wont slip and he can place it where ever he needs when needing to kneel for a long time because projects like this will come up ;)
Guys, I know this was a bad hit, but your calm "get it done" demeanour is a great example, and I honestly love watching you guys work out these problems.
Teal you are the man, I’m always amazed at how good your work skills. Can’t wait to see the finished product. Thank goodness you had a great helper throughout this dilemma.

Teal and Family so nice to see your Videos again. Hope the yacht Cub help with you Dock Rate. It seems Mexico is like Michigan no Fault Insurance. Awesome fiberglass Work. Maybe us Kevlar Fiber install of Fiberglass. Make the Repair’s bullet Proof. God Bless & Peace Be With You
Teal… you are THE Glass-Master! Seriously talented and I appreciate your documenting this process. I learn something every time from you. - Overall it really sucks that this happened to you and you guys handled it admirably.
Well that was a clever repair. I'm new to this channel, and also more into trawler type boats, but your approach to things and your outlook are quite inspirational. I'll stick around. Teal reminds me so much of Adam Savage from Mythbusters.
Teal, you are fortunate to have the skills to fix it and can fix it immediately. Good luck and stay positive.
Really sorry to see the damage but watching the fix was inspired genius.

With Teal and crews repair/building experience, the repair will be levels above how that boat came out of the factory.
That's the plan!
Already is.
Hey, bright side ! Teal is back in his element and giving Rossco a run for his money LOL
I doubt that I can hang with Mr. Boardman.
