just wanted to say how much i appreciate your channel. this year has been my first year gardening & i have learned so so so much from you. i lost a lot earlier this year & took up gardening to try & bring some light back into my life. i don’t think i would’ve had the guts to do any of it without the info from your videos! you & aaron both are great people with so much information to give & you do it all for free! i know i’m not the only person extremely thankful for this channel. also, congrats on baby #2! i’m sure benjamin will be excited to be a big brother (if not today, then some day😂) anyway, sorry for rambling on. you just have done a whole lot for me personally over the course of this crazy year & i can’t thank you enough for being such a light in the community & spreading joy constantly. wishing you all the best!!
Very beautiful selections! I know the feeling when I go to the garden centers it is like I blank out and start loading my cart up. I feel like the plants are whispering to me saying we want to come home with you 🤣🤣 Everything looks beautiful. Thank you for sharing
I agree. I'm so glad she abandoned the moon garden (there). Her new pond area is a better spot. She could have white daffodils in spring and she already has a hydrangea there so, yeah maybe she'll do it there.
Wow woman with a clean soul Rebecca, I can't wait for my plate for so long. Wonderful and beautiful food in this world, what makes you fill happy or makes you happy. ! How's your day going?
It was great to watch your enthusiasm and your smile at putting in your first pop of colour in the moon garden. You looked so happy! Everyone should have an Aaron at home. Congratulations on the baby, can't wait to meet her and by the way, I did not mention on a previous comment that I thought Brian and Greg were brilliant how they interacted with Benjamin. He is a lovely little boy.
Aww, I live in Boise and wish I had made a trip to FarWest to meet you both! Great tips on the Butterfly bush, so glad to see a variety that isn't so tall. I will pick one up in spring, thanks for excellent info. 💚
That violet vase on the outside table 👌🏼😍 I’m so glad I saw this today because I picked up a butterfly Bush that I will be planting later today and I haven’t had one before. Glad I know now to set the crown a little above the ground. P.s. Laura it’s so cute to finally see a baby bump popping thru!!
I LOVE how you always come up with something new to plant! Even though I’m in my late sixties, I’ve started taking notes so I can maybe include some of these in my flower garden. I feel like I’m taking a class, I’ve learned SO much! Thank you for sharing what you do!❤️🐱
I recently planted the same Butterfly Bush (25 of them) along my garden fence line because I so love the look of your Lavender. After watching your video on planting them. I have not been disappointed. They almost immediately started to perform and have done so consistently. Thank you!
Your new plants look great in your garden. I love the idea of the pinky winky in the pots. I think that would look grand. You should go back and get them. 😀❣
I am so glad that I started watching Garden Answer this past spring while looking for a video on growing strawberries. I have learned so much from Laura and love the dynamic between Adam and Laura, plus Benjamin is absolutely adorable! Those butterfly bushes are so beautiful and now you have me rethinking my selection of plants and shrubs for the flower bed that I want to make along our front wall.
Holy moly the arbs behind you look like they have just shot up this year! Super excited for when they become that full green structure you want! Love you guys!
I have several butterfly bushes by my entry & the butterflies loved them! There must have been hundreds of butterflies taking advantage this year! Talk about luck in not hitting that drip line! I will need to put a few of those bushes on my wish list for next year! Glad you are abandoning the moon garden idea & putting color in that area! Maybe a moon garden on a smaller scale in the shape of a full moon or a crescent moon! 😍🍁🍂🌚🌙🌛🌲🌿
Amazing plants. I think that would be where I would source to get all my PW plants. The grower for these knows what they are doing. Wish we could get some PW plants that look that amazing. Wow! Love all of them.
Hey, Laura & Aaron just wanted to say how much my husband and I enjoy your channel. You have inspired us to put in a 70 x 100 garden this year and it did fantastic.... my question as we finish up this gardening season we want to amend the soil and we can't get your magical Land and Sea Compost here in our area so what would you recommend in its place. The organic compost we had delivered at the beginning of the season was not the best....really poor drainage it just needs help!! Thanks for all your wonderful videos and hard work. Sally and Andy Pella Vernonia Oregon
Thanks Laura for the nice up date of the new flowering shrub because I have a very wet area that I was looking for a bush, It will be something I can go look at Andersons Nursery to see if they have it. Brandy Wine great plant, thanks again
I have been planting shrubs, too! There isn't much in our garden centers, so I am glad I got the plants earlier. They are ready to be out of their pots and in the ground!
Was just at Far West a few days before your Facebook post, thought I recognized that store front. So admired their beautiful display of plants. Much more fun than buying pants! Haha
I always buy the Black Knight and White Butterfly Bushes. After 3 years, they are way over 7 feet tall. The flower's are so fragrant and they are so beautiful when they bloom. Humming birds love them..
Beautiful shrubs, the moon garden is looking glorious with all that color and filling in nicely. I love those huge planters and the flowers are doing amazing.
I love Far West Nursery, too! I was just there and picked up all the Hakonechloa they had for a shade garden. Also some heuchera, a climbing hydrangea, and fall flowers for pots! Maybe someday our paths will cross! I’ve been following you since right before you moved, and then we moved from Massachusetts to Boise last year. We’re having all kinds of fun planning new gardens in a new climate so have been very attentive to your videos for inspiration and info! PS loved the water feature vlog! Saw your baby bump for the first time. 😊 thanks to both you and Aaron for all kinds of gardening happiness!!
Lovely plants for my coffee with Laura, Aaron, and Russell, love how he was just laying and watching in the first part of the video. What beautiful plants you were able to get and they will really add to the layer of color you are starting on. Thanks for the inspiration!
I love buttonbush. It grows wild here in Louisiana and (some) consider it a 'weed'. I never see it in landscapes but when something is easy to come by I guess it's not utilized as much in gardens. More people are using native plants in their landscapes thanks to LSU Ag. Center recommendations. I am trying to incorporate more native plants and mostly pollinator plants on my property. Thanks for the information on so many plants. Your gardens are gorgeous.
I'm in zone 7b. I am planning on planting my 5 David Austin rose's tomorrow...that arrived last week. And I have a Black Knight Butterfly bush also to plant. I'm so glad I watched this about the root ball of the Butterfly bush. I hope my rose's do well. I absolutely love them.
Laura, I think it's fantastic that you shop at different nurseries and greenhouses, but mostly at the one, your parents own. I have a couple of go-to places for most of my garden trees, shrubs, perennials, and annuals. It's hard for me to pass up any garden center, and that includes the ones in the big box stores! That's probably a condition that most of us gardeners have in common. I like the concept of a moon garden, but I love color more, so I'll probably never have one on my property. The new shrubs are going to look spectacular in the former moon garden! ~Margie
Wow woman with a clean soul Joyce, I can't wait for my plate for so long. Wonderful and beautiful flowers in this world, what makes you fill happy or makes you happy. ! How's your day going?
I have a boggy area in my backyard so I researched what to put there and found the Button Bush! I also got a Black Cat Pussywillow and can't wait to see how they do next year!
Laura, you look beautiful! Hope you are feeling well. I remember being nauseous and sick about half of my pregnancy. Are you planting anything special to celebrate the addition of your daughter to your family?
MrsJohnson526 I think the only thing she could possibly plant is a tree, her plants tend to not stick around forever. She gets a bee in her bonnet and things have to go!
Absolutely beautiful!!! I am so glad you mentioned not to plant the butterfly bush too deep. I was not aware of this. I planted mine earlier this year and thought it was dying but thankfully rebound and is Bea now. Thank you so much for all the great information you provide. It helps me so much with my gardening☺️
Wow woman with a clean soul Anisha, I can't wait for my plate for so long. Wonderful and beautiful flowers in this world, what makes you fill happy or makes you happy. ! How's your day going?
I ABSOLUTELY LOVE THE SHRUBS YOU CHOSE ❤ I love the color of purple 💜 on the butterfly bushes and I love where you placed them, perfect. On a personal note Laura, you are looking so adorable mama. I'm a mom and a grandma and I just adore the baby bump!! I hope you're doing well. I will admit to you that I got a little bit nervous watching you lift those pots, ugh!!! God bless you all.

Love the giant, long conical & purple tone of those blooms on butterfly bush & they’re pollinator magnets too! Tried them a few times (planted above ground) & does not survive well in my clay soil. They bloom on old wood so it will not do well in my zone4/5...due to all the late frost in May. 😔 Will be looking at them in Laura & Aaron’s garden! ❤️🙏🇨🇦
Laura you need to rent a cube van when you go to the nursery in Idaho! Please bring us along also😁 I noticed the arbovitaes also! What a beautiful natural privacy wall👌perfect! West side is so full. And those king tuts, wow! Maybe you can do a full west side tour? Thank you so much💗
So happy to see you plant a Button Bush! I planted 2 in early June, as foundation plants in front of our porch. Fell in love with them at the nursery. Crossing my fingers that they will like my soil/ location too! 💖
Never heard of a button plant. How amazing! We love viburnums in our central Texas area. Love you’re adding color to that garden. Sounded amazing all white, but loving the color too. God bless. 👏🏻💕👏🏻
I have been binge watching you since the beginning of the stay at home order in my state. My favorite episodes are saved to my phone, (Mackinaw Island 💖). Thank you. Question: do you have to dig up your gladiolus bulbs to winter them?
Thanks for this video. It gives me two excellent ideas for two areas of my garden I have always struggled with knowing what to do. Never give up hope!🥰
Thanks for the butterfly bush planting reminder! We’re so wet in western Washington, I think I’ll keep my “Miss Violet” in a container until spring. Proven Winners has a page of in-depth growing instructions for butterfly bushes, but I’d forgotten that detail.

I just planted one of those same same butterfly bushes a couple weeks ago. It's one of the prettiest purple ones I've seen! I planted mine right next to a hydrangea paniculata too great minds think alike lol
I love Far West Nursery, we bought 4 of our trees there along with multiple plants, including Hostas. They are so knowledgeable and have such awesome variety!
Hi Laura and Aaron your garden is glorious! I will try to plant butterfly bushes in San Diego, California. I'm a small gardener on a budget so I'll probably get only two when I find them. Thank you for your gardening tips! Stay safe and healthy!
"In a previous video", lesson learned, when planting something for the first time, check and see how Laura would plant it, thanks for mentioning that. Guess I'll be bumping my Butterfly bushes up today, glad they're small ones.
Far West Nursery is my favorite full service nursery here in Boise. I also enjoy the Cloverdale Nursery in West Boise, they carry a good selection of trees.
Saw your post where you said you went out for maternity pants and you came home with plants 😂. Really beautiful choice of pants, I mean plants! Lol 😂
Can't stop smiling at post that said you went to buy maternity pants and you came back with plants.
🤣🤣🤣

Jason, welcome to the clan! We are so glad you are here! Please read some of the comments. They are so encouraging.

Jason, so glad to have you here. It is an uplifting community. May God bless you.
Same, I found this channel when I was starting my garden, and wow did Laura help me a ton. Now my garden is 3 years old and brings me so much joy
Very beautiful selections! I know the feeling when I go to the garden centers it is like I blank out and start loading my cart up. I feel like the plants are whispering to me saying we want to come home with you 🤣🤣
Everything looks beautiful. Thank you for sharing

I thought I was the only one who hears plants say, hey you over there, I want to go home with you. 😂😂

Lol ..soooo true!
The west side is going to be even more beautiful with the addition of color.

It is so satisfying to watch Aaron auger those holes and he missed the drip tubing! Great job!
That's (at least) the *second* time he pulled that rabbit out of a hat, lol.
Missed his theme music 🤣
living vicariously through Laura and just loving her park
Me too! Plus we don't have to do all that work! =D
Love the butterfly bushes next to the hydrangea. The color combination is amazing!
I love how that cultivar stays smaller. And the blooms on that plant are so beautiful. My neighbors have one and I love how long it stays in bloom.
Jake Jones me too!
Feeling soooo lucky I only live an hour away from her!🥰👩🌾. I can grow everything she does! Makes my choices so much easier♥️

Aaron needs a hole digging theme song! Love the new additions to the west side garden, especially the Button Bush. And the Arbs...WOW!
It's so funny...right before she brought that up, I was like "whoa! look at those arbs!" lol

I was noticing how well the Arborvitaes were doing also! They have become your green wall💚🌿.

Love all these plants, doing some planting and moving around myself. Your Westside garden is stunning, the urns are to die for🍁🍁🍁
Laura please vlog next time you go plant shopping 💕
Right
Yay! I'm growing butterfly bushes from cuttings (non-patented). Mine look like yours, and it made me feel good you were so excited about yours!💜
Amazing plants. I think that would be where I would source to get all my PW plants. The grower for these knows what they are doing. Wish we could get some PW plants that look that amazing. Wow!

That area of the garden has grown a tremendous amount. The new plants look perfect. It all looks amazing!
I love the addition of color to your moon garden, especially the butterfly bushes!
Love to see that button bush goes to zone 10! Beautiful plants!
I love plants that put on a good show during autumn due to leaf colour change.
We have a butterfly bush in the backyard of the house we just moved into... it is 5’7” y’all and SO beautiful. I planted more in the front yard :-)
Beautiful plants. That side of the yard with those urns and those grasses next to them is absolutely divine. God Bless.

May be you can keep the whites in urns and in ground you can add some colors so it doesn’t feel dry.

That bouquet!!! All of the purples, all day long! 💜
I was thinking the same thing as Aaron. I can’t believe how much your Arbs have grown. Wow
My heart started palpitating when you said you did not buy the Pinky Winky Hydrangeas, I could picture them in the spot you described so vividly.
Hi Laura love your beautiful new shrubs. You have got and the areas you planted them is really pretty..
I love the combination of the butterfly bushes and the hydrangea!
love the colors, oh please next time take us along and show us when your shopping.
"Aaron, you didn't hit the drip tube!"
Aaron goes back in to make the hole bigger LOL
Ohhh that last bit of advice... I planted a butterfly bush in fall, it didn’t make it through winter. Now I know why! Thanks Laura!
I have a boggy area in my backyard so I researched what to put there and found the Button Bush! I also got a Black Cat Pussywillow and can't wait to see how they do next year!

Ok
