You probably have the most important mtb review channel. New riders seem to get led to full suspension bikes. In totality riding a hardtail makes me the happiest. And I think many miss the same opportunity by always owning full suspension bikes

I'm an Onyx guy to the core and I can't see myself running the vesper rear hub. Great hub for lightweight XC duty but definitely not the one for heavier, more powerful riders. The Classic has taken me to some of the most amazing and brutal terrain in North America without so much as a squeak.

My still all time favorite bike is my old 26 er NS Surge from like 2008. Had that thing since then and I've rebuilt it in several iterations, geared, SS etc. over the years. Currently has a dirt juper vibe to it. I also rebuilt like 4-5 times my old Surly Karate Monkey from 2006. Still, nearly 20 years later, I love those bikes dearly and I don't see myself ever getting rid of them, dispite newer, and more capable bikes I have, those old steeds are just plain fun to ride and can be re-invented with a new build. Great Video showing how you're doing the same thing! Love to see it. Esp. in a world where bike company marketing says you always have to have the latest trend or fanciest slightly lighter widget etc. Some parts in the garage, and some imagination can completely change a bike.

Everyone else has already said it, but that looks fantastic - really premium, a great job! I'm leaning the other way with mine at the moment: dark green frame and everything matte black. Yes, i put on a 2k clear coat. I mistakenly thought i grabbed the matte finish, bit i grabbed the high gloss finish instead. It made it look like a Walmart bike. So i scuffed the clear coat up with a scotchbrite pad and now it's a matte finish and it looks killer.

In your opinion, do you think the Ti bars are worth the extra price for the performance? I have steered clear of anything carbon with bikes as added insurance for when I accidentally bonk something. I'd love some additional compliance in the bars as I tend to ride rather aggressively regardless of chunk. Great layered paintjob BTW.

On the initial marbled paint scheme, they did this on American Choppers back in the day and what they did was paint the whole fender one color, then the other, then put it in a plastic bag while the 2nd color was still wet. It turned out cool but the fender had to be in the bag with the sides tight on it. Might be worth trying with a full sized trash bag and putting the frame in it next time.

Currently running single speed but will be going back to the GX derailleur with NX cassette. I'd stop by thunder mountain bikes and get some recommendations from them. I'll be hosting a group ride next week, so keep an eye on my instagram

Do you run the T5 or T7 compound on your Ground Control. Love that tire!

I bought my ground controls before they had the different rubber compounds. I think it's probably a t5, but I'm not sure. I'd also love to try a t9 eliminator up front. That ground control is such an underrated tire.
