@@usmc6911Just wanted to say Thank You for your Service to our Country!! 🙏🇺🇸❤ God Bless You and Your Buddies Who I pray are living their lives peacefully and happily!!
We are free today because of men like John Basilone. I made a point of telling my children the story of this brave warrior and the ultimate sacrifice he made. God bless you and all who have followed in your footsteps.
Just a few weeks ago, I had the privilege of visiting his statue in NJ and later that day visiting his grave in Arlington on the anniversary of his MOH action. Semper Fidelis!
It's definitely one of the most EPIC miniseries!! And I really love the theme music....and the illustrations during the opening credits.. The Pacific is in my opinion, better than the Band of Brothers miniseries...
To future SecNavs: Our fleet should never, not for a single day, not have a USS Basilone in commission. His life inspires the Navy - Marine Corps team and his sacrifices illustrates the standards we all should strive to attain . . . especially under the most dire circumstances.
Happy Birthday Marine , Marine Birthday Nov 10 th 249 yrs old this year . John Basilone Your A True American and a Hero to all ! Semper Fidelis Cpl Scott Dickens USMC!!! ❤
Freedom cannot be taken for granted, we owe freedom to these heroes who bring his people to a higher level and beyond. And that is why it is so important that real leaders are at the top, because only then will you get a unit that can be compared as a chain without a weak link. As long as humanity exists you need these heroes and defense because you will always have good and evil on this planet. Very beautiful and perfect video 🙏🛡🥇💛🛡🙏Greetings from the Netherlands 🧡🔱🦅⚡🧡
Growing up, i read a lot of history. I read about the Maines in Guadalcanal. I was completely amazed at the actions of John Basilone. I told myself i would be a Marine. He was always on my mind in basic. 1979-1986. Happy birthday Marines. Semper Fidelis.
Served in the Army and Marines, like myself. His accolades certainly far outshine my own, however. A true warrior and gentleman. A rare breed, indeed. Here's to John and his family. And, a very happy birthday to all of my fellow Marines. Semper Fi
@@morrisparrish76 yup...neither did Kamala...or Biden...or Obama....I mean i can keep going on and on if you like ? unless you actually had a point that is ???
None of the 3 you mentioned (nice smokescreen) never had bone spurs or a rich daddy to dodge the draft with! Are you going to go on covering for this dickhead draft dodger convicted (34) felon for the next 4 years?
My Uncle Jack was at GC.He never told me anything about his action in the Pacific until I came back from Panama.I became a Marine because of him.On the second day his best friend got shot by a sniper and Uncle Jack got the sniper with his B.A.R.He took the snipers rifle, brought it home and when he died it was willed to me.I show it off every chance I get. Jack served everyday of the Pacific war on the 1st Marine division.O was lucky enough to be in Bravo 1/1.Thats when men were men.
May he and all those warriors rest in peace. My Dad told me that my Uncle, who was stationed Stateside during WW2, knew John Basilone. They were, indeed, part of a remarkable generation, and they belong to the ages.
I remember sitting in a half circle with my drill instructor, right before the John basilone challenge. It was Heavy hearing what amazing sacrifice under harrowing conditions, and then to have to try and do what he did, on a lighter scale, it’s something seared into my mind
My father in law, William Sexton was in the Marine Corps and was a drinking buddy of John Basilone's. He called Basilone, "Johnnie Basilone. He told me that Johnnie was a "wild man". Basilone was a great Marine, so was my father in law. He was a China Marine. I was in the Marine Corps for 16 years. Was an attack pilot- exciting.
GySgt Basilone is an engraved living portrait inside every Marine. GySgt is the highest rank that I held at retirement. Naturally I believe it is the best rank. It would have been good to go farther but I’m satisfied with my experience. Marine Corps history has been my history since boot camp. I remain proud to be a part of the Marine Corps history. John Basilone and Dan Daily were my favorite heroes after I learned about them. I think about how the old breed must have been and what if some of my experiences were anywhere similar. They say only the names change, but The faces and the Corps remain the same.
He received the MOH serving on Guadalcanal, went on to rejoin the I think Charlie 1st Bn 27th Marine when he became KIA. 1/27 was reactivated in 1966. Bravo c/O in 1966 was Captain Jay Vargas. Later MOH serving with 2/4 Marines in Vietnam. Marines suffered more casualties in Vietnam than WW 2.
Semper Fi to all the brothers and sisters who ever earned the title...The Corps has changed over the years, but the spirit to defend the helpless, and accost the agitator with great aggression lives on strongly. Happy Birthday Marines!
John Basilone is one of the most EPIC Marines to have ever lived!! ❤🇺🇸🙏 He is Forever part of the Greatest Generation To Have Ever Walked The Earth!! 🙏🇺🇸❤ What a amazing Hero to have walked among us and give others courage and determination to persevere in the face of whatever is standing in their way!!! ❤❤ I'm so excited and happy and proud that our Country was lucky enough to have John Basilone not only volunteer to go fight in the Pacific Theater during WW2...But even after recieving the Medal of Honor he didn't want to stay home and live his life with his beautiful and loving wife Lena....He pleaded and pleaded to be allowed to return to combat against the Japanese in the Pacific Theater... Even though when he returned to combat he ended up being killed by the enemy...His courage and fierce determination has lived on.. Through his family members and his other family, the United States Marines!!! 🙏🇺🇸❤ God Bless John Basilone and may he always be remembered for his actions during WW2!!
I was never in the corps. I was actually a grunt in the Army. His wife a fellow Marine never remarried saying, “Once you have the best, you can’t settle for less.”
28 years old too, married for I believe 6 months to Lena, deployed to Iwo, sad he never returned to Lena and had a family with his love. ❤❤❤❤ RIP.
She never remarried which could not have made life easy for her considering the times.
John Basilone did have a family after Iwo. He has fathered generations of warriors.

My dad was a Guadalcanal Marine. He used a "tommy" gun because of the thick jungle.
We had a Greek American former recruiter at Portland Maine recruiting office a staff sgt to mustang 2nd Lt carry A Tommy Gun in Vietnam.

That Marine spread the good gospel of fire rate to a lot of Japanese troops. He made them holier than the pope.
