“Speak Now can’t be endlessly relevant because she’s irrelevant to Taylor Swift” I’m crying
still true to this day
It's Lana and Taylor's world, and we're living in it.
Taylor, Lana and Beyonce. They're the only ones with 2 albums in the endlessly relevant tier💅 (and they also happen to be my holy trinity of musical artists🤭).
so true!
It’s you, it’s you, it’s all for you, everything we do….Lana 😁
MY 2 FAV ARTISTS
also 1989 is my fav album ever and born to die is second
@@hassanmansour9857omgg same. what are your fav albums from them? mine's evermore, nfr and lemonade.
SCOOTER BRAUN BEING WORSE THAN AGEING MILK IS GIVING ME LIFEEE 😭
hes the devil literally
of course scooter braun is the last tier. though maybe next time john mayer or calvin harris should be the bottom tier right where they belong!
@@giannalosik8144 or kanye West 😂
you’re so real for putting reputation in endlessly relevant. It’s not even like an amazing amazing album but there is no denial that it is endlessly relevant.
With entertainment and all of that, I like the way you use your words. I actually want to listen to everything you say. You have a certain talent for keeping people engaged through out. I get that it’s your job. But just wanted to say I appreciate it.
thank you so much gabby!!
agreed agreed agreed!
I would love to see you discuss career-defining televised performances by pop girls!
GREAT idea!
A SWIFTOLOGIST VIDEO ON A THURSDAY AFTER NOON???ZACH YOU ARE AMZING IM SO EXCITED TO WATCH THIS OMG!! 🫶🏻
I was feeling generous today !!!
@@theswiftologistand we stan you for that
This is such good content. Please do a 2000s version! And/or 2010s/2000s best selling songs
omg yes I def will do a y2k version

@@theswiftologistwe’re still waiting sir
@@theswiftologistgonna need that 2020-2023 version i can’t wait 6 years 😭
WAITINGGGGGGG
i'm sad marina's electra heart didn't have the commercial success it deserved because that album is genius
the grip that album had in the tumblr girlies in 2012 along with Lana
genius is a stretch. it was definitely a serve tho!
It's so cool to see you branch out more, rather than just Lana and Taylor(which is cool too). Looking forward to more.
thank you!!
i absolutely love and celebrate the variety of artists in this list! each one of these women excel in different areas of the craft (songwriting, performing, singing, curating, etc) and i believe we should stop demanding artist to be on top of everything they create bc most times it can feel inauthentic and forced
as a little mix stan, you putting glory days in an iconic moment was amazing, we appreciate it
Can't wait for a 2000s album ranking
omggg yes
I agree with every single pick. Such a shame Emotion did not do that well commercially, because Run Away With Me is truly pop perfection and everyone deserves to know about that song. Loved the video!
It’s literally one of the best pop albums of the decade, the side b es incredible too
loooove emotion
Omg so gooood
Emotion was my happy place in 2020 😢
Loved seeing you put Carly Rae Jepsen's Kiss in endlessly relevant. I'm always rooting for her and respect that she's still a relatively indie pop girl.
KNEW artpop was gonna be endlessly relevant, charli xcx and rina sawayama esp are bringing so much to the table nowadays and none of the hyper pop resurgence would be possible if it weren’t for artpop being light years ahead of it times, ofc it flopped in 2013 bc society wasn’t ready for it
holy shit i neeed to listen to it!
I was scared when you put ‘4’ as kind of nothing but happy you moved it to where it deserves! I’d love to see you do an analysis on Melodrama
Yes I’d love to see it too.
When I first stumbled onto your videos, I was unsure of whether your vibe aligned with mine… but out of sheer curiosity, I kept watching. Now? I could listen to you wax poetic on pop culture for hours. 😂 I hope you continue to resist letting the unhinged fans deter you from sharing your special brand of analysis because it’s absolutely top tier. ✨
thank you daniel!! I will soldier on ....
i know damn well that future nostalgia, folklore and sour will be endlessly relevant for the next coming years
future nostalgia is THE MOMENT there’s just no reason to try not to deny that. it also started the disco pop revival we’ve been seeing in pop music
folklore has literally never been done before. i think we were all shocked to hear an album like this from her coming off of lover. this album put Taylor back in the good books for me after the crayola pride my little pony shite she put us through during lover. i think folklore defined the “quarantine album” semi-genre
although i don’t love it, sour has undoubtedly changed the pop music space in the past 2 years. olivia is the britney of gen z in a way that the copycats start to become some of the only other relevant girlies in the music industry. obviously britney was so different, and olivia will never be the next britney, but the teens have reacted to olivia and the copycats in the same way that teens did to britney. pretty much every song you hear on tiktok was inspired by olivia somehow
Agree with all three, and I don't even think we realise right now how much sour shifted things cause we're right in it now, but it will definitely go out as a hallmark of the 2020s
not so sure about sour! I'm gonna hang on for OR2
@@theswiftologist I'm really interested to see where she goes from here, it's a lot of pressure
@@theswiftologist apparently she’s been hinting for OR2 to come on June 30th 👀 im not her biggest fan but I’m really interested in what kind of risks she is gonna take and where her career is gonna go from here I think she has massive potential
I love folklore but I really think Lana started that trend and you can clearly hear her influence on folklore. Nfr influenced all of those quarantine girlies
Zack serving absolute taste like always. This ranking and video is so good
It was really interesting to hear you talk about a bunch of other artists and their impact. I would really love if you made more videos like this!
55 entire minutes... the Swiftologist always delivers 🙏
I found your channel a few weeks ago through your Lana videos and have been absolutely loving it! Your voice is super nice to listen to and I really enjoy your thoughtful analyses and reactions!
thank you so much!!
personally i think even if teenage dream is not being replicated at the moment is still relevant because as you said that artists can have their “lemonade” moment at their prime, people still compare “eras” like dua lipa’s future nostalgia as their “teenage dream” moment. so maybe if not the sound in itself is what stuck, the marketing can been seen in some artists up until recently
yea i think if we are going to put 1989 in endlessly relevant teenage dream has to be as well, and that’s coming from someone who’s favourite album is 1989😭
@@bobbysreview exactly !! 1989 is also an example of that
@@lorenzobelluscio3265 I disagree! who is making music inspired by teenage dream rn? there's plenty of 1989-esque, jack antonoff pop girl production going on. max martin has literally fallen out of fashion
@@theswiftologist yeah but im not talking about the sound and production, im talking about the era as a whole being like a pop blueprint for artists like dua now
@@lorenzobelluscio3265 teenage dream was not a blueprint of an era. it was a very successful album, but it was not unique or new from any sort of commercial element lmfao you could say the exact same thing about kelly clarkson's breakaway, lady gaga's the fame, or beyonce's i am sasha fierce which all came out before it!
ok also crybaby, let’s talk about it. LOVE the album, i had another phase with it this year. i completely understand where your coming from with the “i’m an adult baby” aesthetic. HOWEVER, the album is so unique and oddly so well received that i cannot help but praise it and applaud the artist. also…minus a couple songs, i think the album is a banger start to finish
period
I used to love it when it came out.
Looking back at it now, I get heavy creepy vibes
i agree with like almost all of it i think, except that i think ultraviolence deserves to go in endlessly relevant. The sound is reappearing in quite a lot of todays releases, and the album itself is making a strong comeback on tiktok, esp west coast, ultraviolence (the song) and sad girl from what has appeared on my fyp
please continue this as a series! videos like yours are so hard to come by and i love your delivery of concise, clear analysis about the works you review :)
ive been on a swiftologist binge and I have to say, this video is so right and one of my favorites from you! I would have ranked things differently from personal bias, but from an objective, logical, realistic music appreciation perspective, I would not move or adjust any of your rankings. you kept everything culturally relevant and your arguments for why you ranked things in certain places were all valid. I truly admire this impartial and critical outlook on media! we NEED more content creators with this mindset. thank you for your service!!!!
As a Katy Stan, we are surprised whenever we see witness appear literally anywhere 😭
looool
True 😭it's so unappreciated imo
Love this so much. There’s really no one else on UA-cam that I know of who is occupying the space you do.
Can we also talk about the influence Glee had on many of these albums/songs of that time? Many people fell in love with these albums/songs because of Glee. Respect your thoughts in this video. Well spoken!
this night i literally was thinking about this video idea. it’s very interesting, thank you!
Two things
1. Respectfully I think the album teenage dream is endlessly relevant even if many artists today don’t take a ton of inspiration from it everyone still easily recognizes the majority of the songs on that record
2. As for the one 1989 song you don’t like I completely understand besides the fact that the chorus HITTTS. However, I am curious which part makes you not like this song is it the sound of the verses or the lyrics themselves?
Whats the 1989 song he doesn't like?
Exactly Katy Perry is an inspiration to Dua lipa (who's a stan), Ava max and Olivia Rodrigo, this Katy hate trend needs to stop !
@@tenzen6899 noo
What song?
@@tenzen6899 girl she influenced none of these girls (except maybe Dua), and swiftologist doesn't hate Katy it's just his opinion LMAO
this is probably your most entertaining video in my opinion! i loveddd it, one of my favs overall on your channel. you hadn’t really given opinions on a lot of these artists and I loved hearing your takes on them. would definitely be interested in hearing more takes on the pop girlies in the future because you do such a great job with giving your opinion but backing it up too. loved the video and thank you for all you’ve been putting out lately! your videos really do make my day when they come out
great vid. very interesting to hear your input on each album. it’s cool to hear you talk about artists you haven’t really talked about before.
IVE BEEN WAITINGGG FOR A VIDEO LIKE THIS
Loved this. I want to see you rank the pop girlies/pop music women overall themselves next. I wanna hear all the why.
Loved this format of video. I tend to like your longer videos because I’m a youtube in the background girlie. Made me want to go back and have another little throwback listen to a few of these
this might sound weird but i really could listen to you talking for hours, love how you're so articulate. also love your personality lol
this was so entertaining and thorough!! and thank you for always giving praise to little mix because they really deserve better!!
thank you for watching
I'M SO HAPPY YOU POSTED IT MADE MY ENTIRE DAY 😭😭
I love this analysis so much!! I’d love to see you do this for more decades like 2000s, 90s, or 80s
touch it getting the respect it deserves I know that’s right!! the swiftologist always delivers
We are being fedddd LOVE YOUR VIDEOS! ❤️❤️
I think Imagine off of "Thank You Next" is a great song worth revisiting. It's still a stand out in her discography for me. It's a reimaging of the John Lennons iconic song of the same name. In John Lennons Imagine he askes everybody to imagine a world where peace exists without war or hunger... In Ariana Grandes version she askes her partner Mac Miller (who died of an over does back in 2018 and had an imagine tattoo on his arm) to imagine a world in which they live a peaceful life together; ordering take away food and enjoying simple pleasures of life like bubble baths and sleeping in. It's a heart breaking but hopeful song that got to the root of what John Lennon's original song was getting at... which is that world peace is individual peace.
Definitely agree with endlessly relevant, would really love to see a video about melodrama or pure heroine
I loved this video zack, would totally be interested in seeing you do this with another genre and/or decade !
Loved this video :) I love music ranking videos ❤
I love your deep knowledge and educated opinions. Yes to more content like this. Even though I either disagree or don’t know albums you rank I find these deeply interesting
I’ve watched this video about fifteen times now. I could listen to you talk about anything pop culture for hours.
your opinions on all of these are very agreeable with. thank you for making this video twas needed 💯
Loved this video ❤ Always down for discourse about the pop girlies
great video and i love how eloquently you speak
What an endlessly relevant video, thanks for this one Z
The Fame/monster. Teenage dream. 1989 - holy trinity. Legendary pop albums
The Fame and The Fame Monster are two completely different eras... You've got to chose which one makes it into the holy trinity,
@@rao803 The album is one, literally sold as one.
Not exactly. The sales are counted as one, but they were released at different times, in separated cds (in some countries like US you could buy TFM alone, in others you had to buy it with TF as a double CD), they were awarded separately too, etc.
But most importantly, they were two different ERAS, with different concepts, sound, aesthetics, etc.
Wrong. It was essentially a deluxe. A continuation. The other side of the”fame”. The project itself is one whole concept. Doesn’t matter if it was released later on. Even The tour continued on after its release as the monster ball- touring both sides of that record. So like i said that era is one. Thanks
@@dylanaz2354 Lmao, Gaga has stated herself that TFM is an album and era on it's own, no matter how it was realeased.
Such a fun video! Would love to see your take on pop boybands.. How they came to be, have they aged well, which are the best ones, how do they compare with the pop girlies, etc etc
Artpop!!! ❤❤❤ also, your ranking was spot on 👍
Amazing, I love your insight.
Please do one for the 2020's so far!! I wanna see folklore and evermore commentary 😊
I really enjoy your videos and this one. thanks!
I was WAITING for you to do some ranking about female artists in general, one of your most interesting videos😍
me needing to go on youtube for something to watch while practicing a guitar song. me seeing this and being ecstatic about the topic and liking it and knowing how good its gonna be before even watching it
An album I think would be considered to be in the "2020's pop girl album ranking" would be Rina Sawayama's "SAWAYAMA" !!! Lately I've been getting into that album and it's just sprinkled with some bangers :P
I swear I could listen to you talk for like 8 hours straight. I love the longer videos!
Here for the breakdown bc your taste is immaculate 👌
This is the bravest thing I've ever seen someone do.
YESSS I WAS JUST HOPING THIS MORNING YOU WOULD MAKE A VIDEO (I don’t even need breakfast bc I just got fed againnn)
What an interesting take, it was fun having a discussion from this angle.
I got a ticket to the Eras tour in November and I spent the past 2 weeks avoiding spoilers... thank goodness you made a video unrelated to taylor cause omg this is gonna be tough cause your videos are so great!
YOU ARE LITERALLY THE MOST INTELLIGENT AND THOUGHFUL SWIFTIE I'VE EVER ACROSS!!!1LOVE YOUR VIDEOS SO MUCH
Loved this style of vid
Ooh I was going to be physically productive, but I guess mentally productive will do. *sits down*
buckle in queen !!!
This is the content that keeps me coming back 🫶
I think you needed a category in between endlessly relevant and iconic moment, like “aged like wine”. One exemple of this would be like Ultraviolence, which is much more than an iconic moment, it’s still an album that is timeless and iconic and that we go back to often but maybe just not revolutionary
Like ultraviolance on the side of revival really?
LOVE THIS CHANNEL
here is my “prediction” for a 2020s version:
endlessly relevant: future nostalgia, folklore, midnights, sos, renaissance. an iconic moment: sour, plastic hearts, chromatica, planet her, special, positions, evermore, did you know that there’s a tunnel under ocean blvd. kind of nothing: 30, born pink, endless summer vacation, familia. aging like milk: we obviously can’t really tell what this category will look like. scoot braun: takin’ it back. it’s hard because so many recent hits have just been singles :(
And we still got 7 years and 9 months left until we really know.
good picks!!
positions and Special are kind of nothing if you ask me.
@@henrywayne5724 i mainly put special in that category due to how big about damn time was. also due to me personally thinking it’s underrated.
Heaven & Hell?
I absolutely loved this video! So so interesting, and as always, they way you analyse and talk is so engaging. I pretty much more or less agree with all of your choices, I think the only one I would hard disagree on is the Kesha album. I understand why you put it in ageing like milk, since we definitely do not listen to that style of music anymore, and have not for a while, but in my opinion it is kind of like Rihanna's "anti." Outdated but SO SO iconic. Like everyone knew Kesha and TikTok, and whilst no one actively makes music like that anymore, whenever it comes on in a club, everyone goes crazy for it. I think that's why I would put that one in an iconic moment.
Hi King, please make a video ranking all albums of 2020s decade so far. Thank You!
great video!
i believe Melodrama should be on top, when it was released there's no other music sounds like it and as time goes by i can hear now the influence Melodrama to other music artist.
Definitely agree, great video - I have to say for right now I think Renaissance is gonna be inspiring people for a while, it's such a stand out album with it's structure and sounds, and an iconic moment of course
Omg I looovvveeedd this I lol'd the whole video. Very fair critiques.
an hour long swiftologist ranking video, the children are being fed!
You know what you’re so right about Joanne. I tried so hard to like it when it came out and a few songs are alright but this is reminding me that I cannot remember the last time I put that album on lmao and Gaga is my girl. Also your opinion on every album here is ACCURATE. 🎉
zach i respect your opinion and am very interested to see your reaction of portals. 😭
you put ctrl in endlessly relevant thank the lord. SO TASTEFUL
just curious, what’s your opinion on emotion? if it had sold enough where would you have put it, and how do you feel about the album in general?
I’m kind of curious how you feel about Katy Perry’s Smile (as well as what you see for KP6). You actually inspired me to do a reworking of that album and I personally rank as one of my favorite of her albums
I do think Reputation had more impact than Red.
But in no way as a body of work is Reputation better. When you go through the record it actually just scratches the surface and most songs are eventually exploring the topic very shallowly.
I don’t think reputation had much of an impact simple because the idea of a “reputation” album , ie an album directed at addressing the public after a hate train isn’t remotely new. It just takes an already already existing shtick and play on it very shallowly. Clearly Taylor swift makes a very cringe “bad girl” I’m sorry 💀. Red is more influential
i agree about call me maybe but i cannot name a single other carly rae jepsen song that isn't the one that went viral on tiktok a few months ago lmfao... so i agree and appreciate the top tier but i would take that one out ! loved the video
I just started eating and I'm already choking on the Scooter Braun Section 😂 ilusm Zach ❤️
15:55 holy shit dude u have a way with words i LOVED hearing ur description of only girl in the world!!
While I pretty much agreed with your rankings, you did stab my heart a tiny bit on 2.
Adele 25 and the worst pain was Stronger by Kelly Clarkson
That album was so good. Ironically, Kelly covered Taylor’s song Clean on her show. The video popped up while I was watching this lol she heard you dissing Stronger 😄
I love that Kelly seems to be a Swiftie and totally encouraged the re recording of her albums.
Still a fan of your videos and been enjoying the podcasts.
Could you do a 2020 version :) loved this
I would actually love to know your opinion about Tiktok and how it impacted the music industry. I mean I kinda can sense your opinion when you're referencing short attention spans, but other then that how it impacted the production and what kind of music the artists are making is endlessly fascinating for me. Also are you not Florence and the machine fan? Just curious!
One thing I would change would be to put Ultraviolence in endlessly relevant, because its still such a superb example of a conversation starter in the area of feminism, its used as a signpost to measure where 'the culture' was and where it has gone over the past decade (especially considering how long it has taken for some of the initial backlash to yield to a more understanding acceptance and acknowledgement of the sorts of experiences that inspire an album like Ultraviolence). Even if its not looked on favorably by some, you can't deny that's it's certainly still talked about at length. Also, the kind of alternative/rock influence it had is very enduring which is uncommon in a lot of pop music that's very bubblegum and synthetic.
Lana’s albums are all endlessly relevant simply because of how timeless her style and production is
Ctrl is truly iconic. I really like It bc It introduced me to the R&B world and SZA is a great storyteller (telling her own stories)
In 2020's ranking Folklore would be up there in the ranking in my opinion also your ranking was great we love to see lover learn its place( "I'm so sorry "lol😅)
ok i randomly started listening to kesha, and cannibal is actually sooooo good. i had an actual obsession with the album when it was released. she was literally churning out hits like crazy, and i think it’s insane how we just forget about artists like her. granted i have not listened to high road, but damn animal/cannibal go HARD. crazy kids, thinking of you, c’mon all off warrior? BANGERS.
IM SO GODDAMN EXCITED FOR THIS ONE
