The trout fishing must be fabulous! If only you had a fly rod, fresh trout for dinner! Looks like fun! Was going to do this this fall with a friend, but he had to cancel. Understand the feet thing, had a friend totally tore up her feet on this hike. Great video, you look like you are having fun, very infectious (in a good way)!
Thank you so much, Rodc! Yes, that would have been awesome to fish - my saying is, "If it ain't trout, I'm out!" Aw, bummer about your friend having to cancel. Hopefully you'll get to do it another time!
Hi Miss Kara! Great to see you with another video! Lot's of water crossings but you made them look easy. I don't like having wet feet. Take care, happy trails and god bless you!
Glad you are back, depending on your time line your # to summit may still be in the 300's. Always stay in the struggle and finish hard, really proud of you 👍
You did great!!! I am so fascinated by your videos and how much things have changed and the same. In Monson there were 2 sets of hikers in town the Blue Brothers staying at Shaws ( was a small cottage. And my sister and I at the old church our friend ran at the time. The town had a PO very small general store think that’s it. We had 45 out of the last 60 days. Those water crossings ( east and west branch were up to our waste and you had to climb onto the banks. Just remember wringing socks out at breaks. So glad you had other hikers with you. It is so beautiful there!! Looking forward to you next video. Gear looks good! Be well and Trail on TnT
Oh my gosh, such awesome memories! That's so cool. I bet things have changed so much - but truly, Monson probably hasn't changed hardly at all. There's a general store and a gas station and like a BBQ restaurant and one little hostel kind of hotel, and that is it. And a museum! It's so tiny, but honestly I love it! Thanks so much for your kind words and sharing those memories with me, Tracey. 💛
Thank you so much! 💛 The song at the end is called "Feeling Good" by Upstate. I have a Spotify playlist of all the songs I used if you like the music on here and want to check it out, but I haven't updated it in a few months so that one isn't on there yet. Thanks for watching!
Wow what a day!. That was quite the initiation to getting back on the trail.!! Those crossings are nerve wracking but invigorating at the same time! Such a beautiful area❤️ I've never been to Maine. So happy you're back with videos! Missed them!!!
Again my bro's phone. Please don't take this the wrong way but man girl you have lost the weight you look great! You looked great before also 💕 epic views! Wow all that White River crossings 3 4 I mean you are quite the trooper!!! thank you. Safe and happy travels
Very nice vlog! Thank you. I was there about the same time last Fall and loved every minute of it except the day it rained, during which I discovered my new dynema pack was not waterproof and my windbreaker was not either. Needless to say I embraced the suck that day. I LOVED the company and breakfast at Shaw's. I was there the night before the 100MW and the night after summiting Katahdin. I would LOVE to hike it again (all of Maine if I had the time). Early fall seems like the best time. I hope the CT AMC chapter organizes a trip there next year. They had done so in the past pre-pandemic. Happy trails!
That's so cool! But sucky about the getting wet. I wonder if we were at Shaw's the same time, felt like I was there forever. You weren't there with a group of guys were you? I remember meeting a group of 3 guys or so starting the 100mw as a section hike and convincing them to carry oranges in, ha ha! And they came back after summiting Katahdin and told us all about the hike. But - it's such a special place, right?! When I go back to finish the trail, I may just hike that section in the 100mw I've already hiked because it was that awesome. Thanks for your kind words and for watching!
@@KaraKirtley I was there on the nights of Sept. 20 and 27 (or 28). I was hiking solo but noticed there were several groups at Shaw's leaving around the same time I did.
What an incredible journey that was awesome when he left you there and the words of inspiration I hope you make it to the end and I'm Sure you loved the ending
It seems it would have been easier to cross with your tracking poles and just grab the rope upon an "unlikely" mishap. I wasn't there, so I don't know. I liked the technique you both used on the other crossings.
The "weather rock," or "Yankee weather rock (or stick)" is a quintessential New England sarcastic commentary on the weather. A joke? Yes. Not a joke? Yes. Because the weather forecasters are always so wrong, only the rocks (or the sticks) can tell us what the weather is. If it is wet, it is raining. If it is dry, it is sunny. If it is moving, it is windy. If it is white, it is snowing.
Being a bigger built guy would be an advantage for me doing them stream crossings in rapid moving water. Would take a very strong current to wash me downstream!
Thanks so much, Susan! I got it after being the slowest hiker/always last to camp. And then one day, Crunchy and I ended up hiking a big mile day really before a lot of our friends had. One hiker said "She went into Beast Mode," and it just stuck! 💛
Right! It actually rained really hard after this and the water was up to some of my friend’s necks and the crossings were officially closed... super dangerous.
WOW!!! That river crossing!! 🤯🤯🤯. You all did great! 👏👏 be careful out there! & Hike On. 🏕🥾🇺🇸🧗♀️
That river crossing was so wild! Thanks so much, Sue :)
Good to see you back on trail, and in the river, yeah those were some sketchy Crossings for sure! Happy for ya
Thanks so much, Jon!
Still smiling 😃
Thank you so much, Karen! 😁
Lifetime of memories ✨️ 💕
Yes, Steve! Thank you so much :)
Those River crossings were scary, the MATC needs to build some walk bridges. You did great Kara, keep on keepin on.
That would be a great idea! Thanks so much, Elizabeth :)
Thank you for speeding that up
Anytime!

Wow! The power of water is no joke!
Right, Anita! It was wild lol. 😁
Your best video yet! Loved the still shots at the end.
Thank you so much, Dovie Ruth! 😁

I’m so glad to see you smiling again ! You are back where you needed to be
Thank you so much, Tammy! 😁
"Intense" is the perfect word choice. :-) Glad y'all made it safely through the crossings. What is the name of the song playing at the end?
Thank you so much! 💛

Yes, you need to go to Maine, Becky! It's beautiful. Thanks so much for the kind words 💛
Wow, good job on all the water 💦 crossings! Remember to undo your chest straps so you can get out quickly if you were to go down. Lovely scenery!
Thank you so much, Celeste! I also realized when I edited that video I forgot to undo my strap, lol. 😁

Thought you were hiking the trail with the guy from the last video?
We didn't end up hiking together!

That's a really good point! That would help.
I missed some of your vlogs am catching up now or trying to. But, how did you get the trail name "the beast"

Another six inches of water and you are not crossing these creeks.

Where is the guy friends from your traimly

I reported two porn comments.
Thanks so much, Jamie. They seem to come out of the woodworks every time I upload lol.
