The Top 5 Books For People Like Me
Вставка
- Опубліковано 6 сер 2024
- 'I read so you don't have to' is the concept behind what will (hopefully) become a new series on the channel. Ironically, it does start with book recommendations, but this is because I've been asked for them so much!
I 'd love to start talking more about the specifics in the books I've read - maybe a summary, review of a book, or even a single concept in a book.
I'd never discourage reading, but sometimes, it's better to get the information from somewhere if you don't have the time to get around to reading the whole thing (I often take this approach too).

good stuff
Hi Ali, we were already missing your usual _Good Stuff_ .
Well here it is 'Ali's good stuff'😂😂
After watching this vid I realised it was good stuff and came down to see if Ali had commented
Ali's auto reply😁😁😁
I love you 💖
„I never managed to have this conversation with anyone other than myself“ Oh, this statement really hit home. But it is such a pleasure being able to find like-minded people on the internet, at least!
Se usa mi nombre o alias? De ser así podemos tener un problema te debo una y te la devolvere
One day I’ll comment “good stuff” before Ali 😔
you can actually see how excited Elizabeth is about books right from the start, the bookish energy is present!!
♥️
I absolutely love your videos and the way you share about things that have helped you grow from the inside out. I really appreciate your insight and have added many of your book recommendations to my reading list for this year. Thanks for putting yourself out there and sharing your thoughts about life and learning. Wishing you a fantastic 2023 Elizabeth! 🖤
With every new video of yours I watch, I feel like I can add an interpretational layer to your closing comment “and don’t believe everything you think”.
Beautifully simple and accurate.
Humble, yet full of ambition (to learn). An invitation to think more (critically) as much as it is a reminder to not “overthink” (or at least, not take those thoughts too seriously).
I hope you stick with it.
Seeing how you think and how you approach problems and choices has been an inspiration. One to look at every problem and seeing how it applies to me and I to it, instead of trying to follow formulas written for other people.
Thank you wholeheartedly for sharing.
I loved the way you described Virginia Woolf’s To the Lighthouse. I’ve never read this book, but having listened to your comments, it is definitely now on my TBR list. Thx.
Yes please, keep doing this with the books. I am part of two book clubs and I always love to heard book’s suggestions. You could start an online book club, I would definitely want to be part of that. Think about it, it would be great to have other people to discuss the book.
I've watched so many of your videos that now I can say your outro with you - "be kind to yourself and others, and don't believe everything you think". Love your channel Liz, please don't change!
Make it a thing! You have a way of explaining concepts and sharing your opinion that is highly needed in this community
It is a real pleasure to get recommendationsfrom you. I can not wait to start reading them!
You are an amazing human being! Love you!
Videos on books, whether it be summaries, in-depth discussion or otherwise, are always welcome! Always an awesome thing to discuss in any case!
True, love them ❤
I love these recommendations and you've just convinced me to pick up To The Lighthouse which I've been umming and aahing about for a while. Would love to see an 'I read this so you wouldn't have to' series!
Ohhh I hope you enjoy it!!
Lovely, finally book recommendations!
And yes, one book in depth would be great!
Keep doing what you’re doing!
You are amazing!
You are so inspirational!
Thank you for being such a breath of fresh air!
Love you work infinitely!
Very interested in discussion of books - ideas, themes, thoughts, lessons to be learned, etc - all very good points of discussion!
so many different series coming then from Elizabeth Filips
I hated "The Courage to be disliked" too, now I'm tempted to give it a second shot ! For Gawande, I recommend " Better " and "Complications" they are easily on my top 10 !
Oh I love both of those too!! He's a brilliant author!
Elizabeth i just wanna say this you inspire me to be a Better person and i reckon that's a lot! Happy woman's day !
I just love the passion that you have about this books. I think I'll read them all, thank you
I love books about productivity and other stuff related but it’s good to see books on different topics
I totally resonated with all the things you've said. Like the topics and lessons of the books you mentioned are the ones that i truly need for myself. Thank you very much for this! It was sooo inspiring
Absolutely love this video! Would love to see more top book recommendations (& would especially love this type of video made into a series!).
Oh my goodness, what great recommendations. I'm going to read your list.
The only one I've already read is The Courage to be Disliked. Love how you changed your mind and ended up liking it. Thank you for sharkng!
The very fist book you indicated in your video is one of my favorite books ever! It really made me want to read all of the books you indicated
yaaass, I cant wait for your book discussion videos to come out now!
Thank you so much for all these wonderful reads you just suggested . They are on my must read list now .
I'm falling in love with your recommendations!💞
The book discussion SOUNDS GREAT!
I really love your videos Liz
Thanks for watching Pati :)
I'm so glad I found a like-minded person, right down to the very first book recommendation (I have several editions of A Brief History of Time)!! Thank you for the video!
I wish your videos were longer!! I absolutely love them and I'm glad I found your channel
Love that you enjoy them, I do try to keep them as brief as possible 😅
True
This is awesome Liz! Just grabbed the physics book, can't wait to dive in
Ohhh hope you love it!!
Great video! Have noted a couple titles to add to my reading list. Being Mortal is one of my faves, completely shifts your perspective on life. Should be compulsory reading for all humans!
I see m missing out a lot by not reading books as I used to do in my childhood..n ur enthusiasm is contagious
Thank you so much, I really love your videos, please do more videos about book suggestions and also how you handle your information in notion😍😍😍
It’s always a pleasure to watch your videos Elizabeth!...
I don’t think I’ve ever been this happy to see someone recommend a Virginia Woolf novel. She’s my absolutely favorite writer. I would also recommend Mrs Dalloway, as it touches on correlated themes that were dealt with at To The Lighthouse. The Waves, however, is one of her more experimental books, and its so thought provoking in its structure that I name it a novel equivalent of a physics book, lol
Ohhh love to see another Virginia Woolf fan!! I haven't read Mrs Dalloway, just added it to my list, but the Waves was definitely very very interesting... thanks for the reccommendations!
The Waves contains hyper-concentrated life - an injection like non other. Being overflowded by the perspectives' flow it enables rejuvenation in direst times.
Hello, cheers from Brazil. I found your channel yesterday and I fell in love because you speak so fast that it forces me to put my understanding of English in othere level! By the way, I read At the lighthouse some weeks ago and I loved it! But, unfortunatelly, i read it ins a Portuguese translaton... I will try to read in English soon, i hope I'll be able to! The geanelogy moral is also one of my favorites books! And quite justificate the self-comprehension of the author: "I am dynamite"!
Book content, whoop whoop! Love the idea of making a whole series out of it 📚
Thanku ,truly appreciate the effort u put here!
My absolute fav.(s) to watch here:
- ur take on art/paintings
-anything n' everything pertaining to books
*Being Mortal* was already on my TBR ,i tried to get it few days back, but couldn't order for some reason.
Gonna try again, soon, thanks for a reminder😉
Starting *This is going to hurt* just now, came here to check on some new good books first.
Good wishes to u!
I have been watching so many of these "book" videos lately and it's honestly mind-blowing that you can bring such a fresh perspective to everything. Even the books you suggested are so different from each other but have an overarching theme and yeah I just. I just Stan lol. Have added all of these books to my personal reading list, and will definitely think of them as "best books to read in 2021, or I guess just life"
She is from another world, another level, isn’t she.
I love all her work, her perspective in life, her atitude towards life!
Amazing!
@@tatah678 :') definitely, I wanna be like Liz when I grow up
@@SerraY please do,
We definitely need more people like her! 🤗🤗🤗
@@SerraY just be yourself and ”copy what you can” from positive, beautiful people around you!
Omg Serra you flatter me TOO MUCHHHH (don't stop) I'm joking haha thank you for being the best ♥️
Girl I feel like you are a better realised version of me. Even to clothing style. I'm loving your channel and hopefully it'll help me a bit in catching up with myself. Much love.
Hahaha thanks for watchingg!!
Ahhh I’ve been waiting for a video like this from you and it did not disappoint! I’ve just downloaded speechify and can’t wait to get into these gems !
Thank youu 💙
great vid, short and snappy summaries. Liking the format so far 👍🏼
Yooo thank you 🙏
I would love to see book reviews or videos on concepts from books!
I want to check out all 5 books right now, they all sounds amazing!
Dear Elizabeth , I loved the video, thank you very much for the suggestions. I've put almost all the books on my Wishlist👍😊
A Brief History of Time is one of my top favorite books as well! Going to check out all others, thank you Eliz!
thas a cool title
I recently found out about your channel and I’m loving it, thank you for sharing this :)
In just short period of time, you became one of my favorite youtubers! Im glad you start this channel ^.^ :)
Oh my thank youuu 🙏
the way you express .amazing
love the content and the way you present it, thanks for sharing
The Law Of Human Nature by Robert Greene!
It explains a lot about why we behave how we behave, how childhood events could influence ones way of thinking, etc.
All you need to do is to choose a book (say, to read between now and the end of the month), announce it to your channel, and then you record a video on it, and we can comment below.
That’s a brilliant idea, thanks so much Gerald!!
I love this idea! I would really recommend '10 minutes 38 seconds in this strange world' by Elif Shafak, it sounds like the same kind of book as 'To the lighthouse' (which I'm going now planning on reading) and I think is one of my top 3 books! love the video as usual :)
Te debo algún favor? Creo que te debo una revancha te acuerdas no? No me pidas favores ya no los hago
needs to get back into actual book readingcause tryna have conversation is utterly useless so might as well wit a book
I never heard of any of these books and my book preferences are certainly different overall, but that last one does sound very interesting. I am going to add it to my wishlist! Really hoping I'll have a chance to read it before too long. I don't have much of a budget for books. :)
Love your video. Very precise and short and sweet , covers all the key points. Love your speech ...
Thank you so much!!
Why I found your channel too late but have glad as I find one of the most inspirational channel♥️
Lots of love ❣❣
I am glad I watched this - 3 books added to my to-read list. Thank you!
Thanks for watching :)
Keep up Elizabeth. Love your content so much 😃
This is a brilliant video. Thanks for sharing your emotions and thoughts about these book so openly
Thank you so much for watching :)
I love the idea of discussions on books
i love it tho I’d only listen
Awesome video Elizabeth, I read almost all of your top 5 books. The rest I will order right away :)
Thanks for watching :)
Great idea to share your favourite books! This is nothing to cure my tsundoku, but I love to hear you share your recommendation with such excitement.
What do you think of Woolf's style? Would you recommend "To the Lighthouse" to a non-native speaker?
ohhh book resc! I'm here for it!! thank you!
It’s funny because as an aspiring UA-cam myself (not on this drum channel) I too thought about making a video on favourite books, and haven’t got very far with the idea yet because I simply have to many to choose from. And they are ALL astrophysics books too which doesn’t exactly lend itself to versatility 🤦🏻♂️ On a different note, I love this video - some good ideas for further reading into different areas!
Go for it, astrophysics is the besttt
thank you for the recommendations!
I’m very interested in reading “Being Mortal” and “The Courage to Be Disliked”😍
Yo no he sido son los tres masque perros y empiezan a cansarme el babas la persona y el tercero
Es una falsificación y tendré que denunciar he aprendido de ellos que hay que hacer daño cada vez que se pueda así que no te fíes de mi no avisaré mas
Please please please make it a thing!! I’ve only read one of these so far (being mortal) and am going to add the rest to my list right away!
Thank you for your amazing content!
This is completely unrelated, but your studio is absolutely stunning. I am moving to London for work and would love to live in a similar place. Could you do a video on budgeting (rent, etc.) while living there? Would be great.
When Breath becomes air is my favorite medical book 💙📚
interesting..medical as in medical?
Thank you soo much for the book recommendations❤️
You're so welcome :)
The first three are also three of my favorite books! Though I slightly prefer "The Waves" over "To The Lighthouse, maybe because I read that one first.
Haha I think the first book you read from her is so unlike anything else that I really leaves a strong impression!
Found this channel month ago , It introduced me to content I’m looking for really useful 🙏🏻👍🏻
first of all, I would like to thank your beautiful soul, secondly thank you for your recommendations, really I appreciate that...
Your videos are addictive :)
Bdw love your work 😍
Discussing one book in depth per video would be great !
Fantastic video! I am adding all of these books to my reading list. I felt similarly about The Courage to be Disliked, but I will give it another go now! A book club would be great. I’d love to discuss books with you! :)
I know it's horribly written (in my opinion) but it makes some great points!
@@elizabethfilips yes I wasn’t a fan of how it was written either. Good to know that there’s some wisdom in there that makes it worth it though, thanks! I was especially interested in the point about how praise can be problematic. I’ve been thinking about this recently as it’s something Taimir mentioned in the Not Overthingt podcast, and is also something I’ve read about before in ‘Mindset’ by Carol Dweck.
Friedrich Nietzsche is my mustache example, this is one of your best vid by far your passion for books is inspirational, more book vids please ;)
i really love those books that you showed us , i wish i could have them to read them
Best book video ever! You bring such s fresh look to things!
Thank you so much Ganga!!
😃 finally you made video about books
Gonna borrow these all out from my local library!!
Thanks alot for your ideas &your video so much interesting.
subscribing even tho I feel anxious about how productive and smart you are
Shes so cool, how is she this consistent?! 🤯🥰
I hope if she would reply to this one
she is sooooooooooooooooooooooo cool. love thissss like someone i can finally relate to
Yes i can finally relate with an UA-cam r wholely
I read Nietzsche at the age of 19. Phenomenal and dark. Loved it.
Nice to meet you ...glad hear your explanation about great books. ..fantastic
Love a brief history of time!
These are great recommendations! I love Being Mortal
One of your best videos yet!
Thank youu 🙏
Being Mortal and The Courage To Be Disliked are among my favourite books ever! Will give the others a try. :)
True ❤
We got A brief history of time as a gift from school after scoring good at higher secondary class. 😬 Good book
You mean good stuff
Many thanks for this!
I will try to read them soon
Very good; Enough said to give the desire to read; not too much said to avoid spoiling the inclination to search.
thanks for sharing such a great list of books .just corking.
Love your book videos :)
The books you read and Ali read are sooo different...
I Really loved these books I'll definitely read them all !!
Ali should read then to 😀 !!
Thank you! We read a lot of the same books too, but I definitely love my break from business books 😅
@@elizabethfilips yeah exactly
Although the only book recommendations I have got from Ali are productivity, I seriously am very eager to get my hands on all these books you mentioned Elizabeth, especially the book "A brief history of time".
I absolutely love space, cosmos since childhood and I have watched all the documentaries of Stephen Hawking on Discovery so I am very excited to excited to read it !! 😍😊
Really I appreciate your ideas, this time you instigated me to re open some of my university books, as that of the brilliant Virginia Woolf, a massive stuff, thank you so much
As a medical professional, I’d love to hear your take on Dr. Jason Fung’s books 😊
Thanks! Maybe make 5 more videos for each of these 5 book with an overview and go in depth in a few areas of the book?
If you like that format you can do your 22 books too Cheers and happy holidays
This channel is so great
