The first point alone was so powerful when you talked about it briefly in your newsletter. For anyone reading this comment if you're not subscribed to Elizabeths newsletter I would highly recommend it, as well going back and reading the previous issues because it's honestly so insightful. Of course a lot of amazing points to consider through out as always, I especially loved the "work to them, play to me", "failing publicly" and the "purpose of money". Going to definitely have to learn all I can about Naval now :) Thanks for sharing!

Unpopular opinion: what I’ve learnt after following Naval for a long time is that most of what he says needs to be taken with a grain of salt. Some of his ideas are extreme and the world is not that black or white even though it would be much easier if it was. Hence people find comfort in his words which are intellectually satisfying but not 100% applicable to reality without some skepticism.

An important thing to keep in mind in the work/play dichotomy discussion, especially when you work for someone else, is that just because something feels like "play" doesn't mean it's not creating value for your employer. So make sure you know what your time is worth, even if you enjoy what you do!

I think the point of public failures is related to artistry and self expression and not declaration of goals (they might be related). For example giving speech, singing, playing a tournament, standup in front of an audience. Just bringing yourself in front of people and facing the fear of judgement.

I really love the quote "people who have the ability to fail publicly in their own name, will also get to reap the rewards" - yep to move forward, you need to try new stuff a lot, which often doesn't work but which helps you grow. In any case, it's the journey which counts not the destination. many thanks!

    Hello, Elizabeth!
    Hope you're doing well!
The point pertaining to the social media was so so valid . That's one reason i don't want to *put myself* anywhere on social media ,ever!
I always say it ain't for me ,my mind can't handle the overwhelming feelings, the abundance social media offers .
(Good to hear you are aware n' try to handle this community, without compromising with urself too)
Also the power of introspection/self analyzing is key for happiness, rather than making outer things work ur way .
Yes, would love more of such insightful chitchat-ty vids!
    Good wishes to u 🤗

    What the heck Beth!
I clicked on the video full of innocence and then I'm here rethinking my whole life! Hahahahaha
Was certainly not prepared for such depth, I was expecting you to talk about the usual mindset stuff, like confidence; be yourself; the growth mindset and all.
Thank you for using your voice to showcase a different narrative and being brave enough to share the things and people that have changed your life.
    Mad respect

"Desire is choosing to be unhappy until you get what you want."
I lack the benefit of the context around this quote. Reading the quote alone and applying my experiences, I think when there is a gap between where you are and where you want to be, you feel dissatisfied. That dissatisfaction or unhappiness motivates me to take action pursuing what I want. I don't necessarily perceive that dissatisfaction or unhappiness to be a bad thing. If we were constantly happy and satisfied with where we were in life, we would never progress or evolve. We would have no motivation.

Absolutely loved this video! I completely agree about money! I'm finding that most people are doing things because they think that those things will bring them the most money even if they don't necessarily love them! This is in the hopes that the money will save them and make their lives better and happier! Money is just an amplifier of who you already are and people should seek getting to know themselves and what truly makes them happier and the money will follow! 🙏🏻💞
