Brilliant photography! Three things that stuck out. The toilet seat final install and slowly going down. Your table that you altered and had a beautiful arrangement of flowers. Last you both have a favorite bench that you can share. I’ll be waiting for your next video. Thank you both for sharing.
So glad you published a new episode and to hear that the move went well. As many others have said, your videos are always lovely to watch and give a real sense of the love you feel for your new home. I see you both working without gloves most of the time - I'm impressed. My hands would be like sandpaper and full of blisters by the end of the day! Looking forward to episode 9 already.
It’s funny when you said it’s from the 1980’s, I’m thinking that’s not long ago and then realised it was a long time ago 😅😅 I’m getting old. Great to see you back 🥰
How nice of the plumber to try and repair all the problems and then the neighbour chipping in. You are so lucky to have such a nice neighbour. I do hope your move went well in July and I can only guess you are still settling down and I hope the trip from both countries Belgium and the Netherlands went smoothly with no hiccups. Hope to see a video soon, looking forward to your new adventure and renovations.
Looks like a long adventurous journey ahead! I can't wait to see what's in store for you both! Your property is big enough you could host friends and family easily and share the adventure as you see fit. Thanks for sharing it with us I really appreciate viewing.😎
Five years ago, we moved 2000km across the country to renovate an old house. (Just 50 years old.) It is tough when we have no idea where the pipes are! I really admire your hard work to restore your lovely old house and to do most of the work yourselves. I hope the move in July went smoothly, and I'm looking forward to the next part of your story.
The move went swimmingly for the most part :-) Figuring out where all the pipes are takes some time but it's just part of the process! We hope your renovation project is going well :-)
Hi Issis & Bertus, Great be seeing you guys back on route well-being, and safe. the big move is something demanding and heavy but you are capable to fix that too. Issues with the waterpipes are always representative of the old water pipes, so there comes some extra work and cost to the preservation of the Property, I do wish you all the luck and patience to make this the Success you dreamed of. Greetings from Hubertus the Old Dutch Norwegian. Stay safe and take care,🇮🇹👍🏻🙏🏻☮🇳🇱🇳🇴🍀
Thank you so much for making a story of your Casa renovation. Its creativity and imagery has entertained me for hours while im isolated and recovering from a bad cold post pilgrimmage in Spain. Its better than any movie. Enjoy the fruits of your labour and your evolving life there and I look forward to see it unfold.
Was so happy to see this video notification I been thinking about you guys moving in this is great 😊!Congratulations on the move 🎉.Wishing you both health and prosperity and happiness in your new Home 🏡 in Italy
So looking forward to your future adventures. Have been waiting for updates wondering how you were doing. Also have thoughts about moving to Italy with my son and DIL. Good luck with everything.
So glad you’re back and I’m looking forward to seeing you move in and catch up to (close to) real time! I almost posted a note yesterday to check in (almost like we’re friends or something, lol)…
Nice to see you! Love the beautiful scenery and music. You are very hard workers! Hope your move went well! ❤ Blessings from Plano, Texas (suburb north of Dallas)
Happy to be back too! It took us a little while to get an "office" space set up at the cascina to work on editing after the move :-P thanks for sticking around!
Hello from CA, USA! I love watching your channel. I had a similar situation happen with our galvanized water pipe. It must be at least 80+ years old. Got to one leak and then kept digging and found more. We ended up installing about 14 ft of new copper. No more galvanized. I think if it would’ve been more, I would’ve used some type of plastic as copper is expensive. But I hope it last longer than the galvanized. 😂 I’m so happy your neighbor was able to help you with a temporary solution.
I'm glad you replaced the galvanized water pipes! Galvanized steel will eventually start to corrode and can pose a hazard for drinking water, which makes it unsafe for drinking water eventually. The problem isn't the zinc coating but lead and cadmium, two heavy metals that can exist in the zinc because of the galvanizing process.
Really nice video again and happy to see you are about to move in. Unfortunately you have to go through the progress of learning what still works and what does not, but in the end it is all worth it. Good luck with the move!
My son is a chaplain in the Air Force and they moved there 4 years ago and have one more year left. They love it there! What a beautiful property you and your husband bought. I can’t wait to see this beautiful transformation you will make out of this. Thank you for sharing this journey with us. I have subscribed and will be following you cause I am truly so happy to see what becomes of this beautiful paradise. Good luck stay safe and God Bless from USA❤
I hope the move went well and that you are getting settled in. Sometimes it is best just to dig it all up and replace with new plumbing. I am Looking forward to more videos.
The netting is for things like roasts where the bone has been removed, it holds the pieces closer together. Used in several different types of meats, beef, pork and lamb are the top 3 to use such.
Yes, that's a net that goes around the salame usually. In the list there's salt percentages needed for each "insaccáto": this word indicates all those cold cuts that used be pressed into a sleeve, a "skin", cleaned up intestines, usually. Like salame, coppa, salsiccia, salamini etc.
Hello again! What progress! There's more of everything - more belongings and tools, more flowers and wild-life, more grass, more people, more rain and more life! It's beautiful. I think you will be in when I arrive next, but before that my computer has to go to be repaired...be back soon.
We purchased the property from the family and this is everything they left behind / didn't deem important enough to take with them. We have fairly frequent contact with them too, which is lovely!
Hello from South East Hungary, great that you guys posted a video again. Hope the big move goes smooth and that you can "get the show on the road" and start your projects.
Ciao , bravi e buona fortuna !
i think we adressed this in a later video or otherwise repeatedly in comment responses: not even the aquadotto/municipal water isn't 80cm in the ground here for the same reason that we can't have it that deep: the top soil isn't deep enough. in many places there's only 40cm of soil on top of the solid rock. all our neighbours told us they have the same. our pipes did not freeze this winter. 😉
The pipe on my farmhouse in transsylvania was broken last winter. In Germany we have the rule that the must be 80 cm under the for this! But Rocks are a big problem!@@storiesfromthecascina
yes, it's the official guideline. also in belgium and the netherlands and also italy. big rocks are one thing, but if you literally have to dig away the mountain itself is another thing. if you have to dig out 40cm of solid rock you also risk destabilizing the house. and that is a problem you do not want to have 😅
@@storiesfromthecascina thx to me the Chapels every where are so special I get tears in my eyes everytime I see one because I think of all the people over the years that kneeled and prayed in those Chapels ❤ 😊
Aha! The Summer Hat has arrived! Wonderful, lyrical vlog. A joy to watch.
Some beautiful imagery mixed in with real life toiling. Nice to see you back.
And, at the end of the day, there is the bench, where two people sit and enjoy a glass of wine. That picture says it all.❤
Wonderful to see a new post from you. Hoping to see more of your renovation, explorations and the utter tranquility of the your surrounds.
Please consider wearing protective equipment such as eye glasses, closed toe shoes and sometimes, gloves. You will be grateful for that bit of protection.
I second this. I saw those one-strap Birkenstocks and the sledge hammer... I winced the whole time. 😬
I agree, from a person who wore sandals moving heavy items and still suffers the consequences 15 yrs later!
Brilliant photography! Three things that stuck out. The toilet seat final install and slowly going down. Your table that you altered and had a beautiful arrangement of flowers. Last you both have a favorite bench that you can share. I’ll be waiting for your next video. Thank you both for sharing.
Your videos are instant relaxation. I could watch for hours on end.
Happy to hear that! Enjoy!

Such a chill house reno vlog, really like the pacing and general vibe from this vid, most videos of this nature seemed so rushed. Subscribed!

That was netting for ham! I use to work at a processing plant! Used to hold it together while smoking it!

OOh love that 70s (?) wardrobe
Looked like a lot of work got done 😉 and some relaxing too

the mesh rolls are for holing together rolled roasts
That string netting looks like it was for rolled roasts, not sausages.

So sorry about the surprise plumbing issues, but you’re still making so much progress! And beautiful imagery, as always 🫶🏻

Thank you!!! Artist & artisan, you guessed that right :-)

Welcome Home Issis and Bertus! I am so looking forward to what you will create with this beautiful property 🙂

Thank you for sharing. I am enjoying your journey.
You are so welcome
Looking forward to seeing your "pollaio" renovation. 😊
Us too!!
Enjoyed the vlog, cannot wait for next vlog.
More to come!
Are you moving to Italy permanently now? You have tackled some major issues! Well done!
Yes, we've moved in july - coming up in the next video ;-)
Found your channel a month or so ago so am catching up. Wondering at what point Italy is your home and you’re just visiting the Netherlands.
Schop of spade. Jullie gebruikten een schop, die is om mee te scheppen. Een spade kan spitten. Veel succes en plezier.
very much aware of the difference between the two ;-) in het Engels betekent "spade" zowel spade als schop.
I am devastated, 28 minutes and not one sight of a Bowler Hat, 🤨
Happy to announce that the bowler hat will be making a comeback come autumn/winter. It's simply to hot right now for wool felt hats :-P
