- Just a short rerun segment from a previous video on how to not install a Mid USA aftermarket ignition in your Harley Davidson; whether it be a shovelhead, ironhead, or evo engine. As I bought a Mid USA after market ignition for one of my Harley Davidsons (the 1976 ironhead), I quitly burnt it up due to the fact that there were no installation instructions included in the box.

FYI you can put the later intake manifold bands over the o-rings instead of electrical tape. Wired correctly that is a good ignition. Later

I once bought an aftermarket ignition that was wired backwards to the plug from the external advance curve unit(everything was upside down in the plug compared to the ignition pickup unit plug). I noticed it while installing and pulled the wires from the plug and installed the wire pins correctly in the plug before I powered the unit up.
It’s probably the cam chain tensioner on ur bike because It’s a Twinkie wide glide, s&s offers great replacement options.
I don't have a twincam.
hey bro, I bought the same thing but “made in china” , installed it to my ironhead, use white wire for ignition and it works pretty good!

It has to be wired correctly to the coil.
According to this posting it has been 3 weeks since you posted this video, I was wondering if you have gotten your situation corrected as of 4-3 2024? Please reply as I have an electronic ignition that I purchased for a 2001 sportster that I never installed and since I have enjoyed your content for a few years I was thinking that I would send it to ya if I knew where to send it.

You would think if they took the trouble to put stuff in the description then that could include a copy of the instructions in the box. Most people after they order something don't go back to the internet to reread a product description after they order it.

I have an Ultima ignition on my 1989 Harley Davidson Sportster order it from eBay back in 2014, it didn't come if any instructions. So I looked up the company online and printed them for my records. Some simple things I'll attempt to put it together without any instructions. But when it comes to electronic it's gotta be done right the first time.
This ignition is the best way for tuning a Sportster ever, as I ordered it with the computer programmable assembly. I'm getting 48-50 MPG on the Highway and Loving it.

That's a shady seller. Dispute the transaction with Ebay.
Sellers on eBay do that shit on purpose, so you would turn around and buy another hundred and some odd dollar part from them to replace it. The instructions would be in the Box not written down instructions on eBay. Totally on Purpose😡First words out of the Mfers mouth was you hooked it up Wrong,Backwards. He knew that because He Purposely did not put instructions in the box😡

Instructions on the listing. That’s scummy. Especially if they are wired completely opposite to every other unit on the market that honours the OEM wiring colour codes. That’s just begging for trouble.
