This is one the top five concert videos I've ever seen. The quality of the recording is incredible. I was never a big Chicago fan, but holy cow! I discovered Terry Kath in this live concert video, and I was ashamed that I hadn't been aware of his talent long before.

Yeah. In fact, Chicago played a few shows at Tanglewood. I think more than any other band. They got a lot of love from the lovely folks of Tanglewood. Every video of Chicago, playing there, shows WHY they were loved so much. Kath's death created a huge hole, in the collective heart of Humanity, that has never been totally filled. If the Terry Kath biographical film, made by Terry's daughter, is still on YT, or Amazon, watch it, if you haven't, already. Ah hell, even if you have seen it. She went searching for knowledge of the father who died when she was 3 or 4, I think, and she ended up with a beautiful story of the father she barely knew, but loved, anyway.

This is probably my favorite song from my favorite live concert performance. It's got everything: funk, soul, blues, hard riffs, protest lyrics and an absolutely awesome flute solo. But what Terry Kath does at about 8:15 is straight ascension to the realms of the musical gods.

funny when people talk about guitar gods they say names like Hendrix, Page, Van Halen, Clapton, but u never hear Terry’s name … and he had just as much talent as all of them. What a shame he died so young. His death killed the Chicago progressive rock band and brought on the Chicago commercial love song and radio hits band. I think this line up was the best

my favorite band. All were great on their instruments but without Robert Lamm's incredible writing there would have been no Chicago. Their concert playlist would be rather small. He wrote by far the most and best songs on their first five albums and continued with great contributions after that. Does anybody know what time it is, Beginnings, Questions 67 and 68, Listen, South California Purples , Someday ( with Pankow) Poem for the people, 24 or 6 to 4 .It better end soon, Sing a mean tune kid, I dont' want your money (with Kath) Free, Happy cause I'm going home, Saturday in the Park, Dialogue, State of the Union and many more were all penned by Lamm on the first five albums. Without his writing there were only a few great songs ie Introduction, and In the country (b;y Kath) the great Ballet for a girl in buchanan , Movin in (by Pankow) and Lowdown (by Cetera) Lamm was the backbone of the band when they were at their brilliant best.

Kath: just amazing. Such feeling in his singing and playing. The best every. (have to add this) Kath had such deep soul/blues power in his vocal/guitar he was unstoppable monster. I was into BEATLES up until Kath. Don't get me wrong, BEATLES best group ever , Lennon especially. BUT...my cuz from CT brought Chicago II & III in (Pa. I live in) and I heard this deep scary voice and powerful guitar, totally hippie activist. It was stunning to hear, I was like 12years old I'd say. And never heard a deep powerul vocal like that. And it grew on me year after year. Cetera took over the band, they weren't the same even while Kath was in it. First 5 albums MUST GET.......ESSENTIAL. Never had Carnegie hall: get I II III V. III is a masterpiece. Actually that is the best one,no one knows it. We got them original as kids, all came double gatefold covers with MULTIPLE giant posters in each one. I mean BIG posters, unfolded like 20 x size or something ridiculous like that. He brought in SMOKIN' Humble Pie, that was my outro from the beatles into other stuff. BEATLES ALWAYS THOUGH. My cuz bought chicago II $5.00 LOL. that was the price of a great double album then, I will never forget. WE thought it was expensive believe it or not. He said he'd be back with the tax, guy let him have record....he never went back. I knew he wouldn't. All 3 of us knew it.

"IT better end soon" was Terry's masterpiece. And it was. He wrote it. He loved it. At the time in this Country. it was a very important song for us all to hear. I am 68. Remember this like yesterday.

    "Can't stand it no more
    People dying
Crying for help for so many years
    But nobody hears
    Better end soon, my friend
It better end soon, my friend
    Yeah
    Can't take it no more
    The people hating
    Hurting their brothers
    They don't understand
    They can't understand
    Better end soon, my friend
It better end soon, my friend
    Yeah, yeah-yeah
    Just think about it"
Stop the war. Stop the tyranny.
Except people for who they are and except yourself for who you are.
    Much love ❤️

Chicago is the only band that can make horns sound awesome. I typically dont like horns in my music but Chicago just makes it so cool.

One of the baddest jams, and political statements, ever! And sadly, still so relevant today.
Terry Kath and the gang were some bad boys, I got to open for them long ago, but unfortunately it was the first tour they did without him...

I would argue that between 1966-1974 the western civilization lived it's apex. Thanks to technology we can still enjoy it! Now, let me face reality again...
