This is very inspirational, I'm growing myself and I also live in Asia! I actually just booked a flight to go to NYC On my birthday September 3rd! Because I will be freestyling on the show, that's my word.
When the female host said "chill sway don't let them go into jail" part or something, I realized Americans seem to have strong stereotypes about Chinese government and society...I mean, we are not like North Korea( Their government controls everything about their internet and they can barely know nothing about the world), but in China you can get in touch with cultures from all over the world through the internet if you want to. Such as the music, the Hollywood movies, the news, anything. It's not like "that's American culture so the government bans it", that's not true. I'm sure due to the different languages the first guy was nervous or just didn't understand sway's question very well, more like he thought sway was asking about the "Chinese government banned hipa" thing. Chinese government banned some hip hop songs about sensitive topics like politics, but there are still many many rappers and hip hop music have emerged and grown over the years, including some incredible Chinese rappers who combine the hip hop music with the traditional Chinese instruments and the young generation in China love them. And The Rap of China is one of the best popular shows in China now. I know the Chinese government has its dark side but I have to clarify that in China we won't be "throw into jail" just for making hip hop music lol. Don't demonize us just bc we're from a communist country lol.

Not all the rappers are good at freestyle, He said he wasn’t a battle MC, he admitted he was a studio rapper. Just like the difference between ‘musician’ and ‘performer’. Just search ‘Xie Di’ on UA-cam, watch the first five or six videos, you will see his performance. He once did a Chinese ‘rap god’ covering Eminem, strongly recommended!
