Woah that's actually really powerful what you said, I really hope to remember this. I feel like I deny Christ all the time- if I had my way, I'd 'un-meet' him and go back to a transcendental, universalist view of God, the way I met God as a child. I don't like the 'politics' of Christianity, and the more I come across the Gospels and the Bible the less plausible it all is to me. But, even when I feel like breaking away, I just have the image inside me, subconscious parts of myself constantly submit to God and venerate Him. I cannot break away. I may consciously deny Jesus, but in the end I seem way more aware and worshipful than even I realize. I should hope all people are like this on some level, that none would be damned, if such a thing is true. I see a lot of myself in Peter then, I suppose. I was never involved in devout Catholic activities as a kid but still went to Catholic school, though I only began to like religion as a subject in 5th Grade and never really consciously believed until 7th. I was never linked up with or accepted by other Catholics as a kid and really into adulthood either, yet I was always seeking. So in that sense, I was the 'lowest', like Peter, and my insistence on reasoning and knowing the truth, free of someone else's influence, makes me 'hard-headed'. I also really want to name my future son Peter as well and have since I was 5 haha

If it's new it's not true... God gave you His Word so that you would not have to hear it interpreted wrong by those that twist God's Word. Read God's Word for yourself, and judge all things by the Word, otherwise when the storms come, your faith will be shattered. Build your faith on God's Word alone, and it will survive the changing seasons of the world.

@@redstarfarms2778 With so many religions in the world today, you're right, it does cause hatred, but that was the intention that the only path that leads to salvation would be just another "religion" to be hated, placed in the same category along with all the rest. Those that will survive are those that build their faith on God's Word alone, and not through the interpretations of others. God's Word works within each of us to guide us to the truth, and my hope for you, is that you read God's Word one night, perhaps while laying in bed, with an open mind, as a child looking for nourishment, looking for answers, and not as one who is comparing the Word of God to what information we have in our minds.
God's Word says, "There is a way that seems right unto a man, the ends of which lead to destruction", but there is only one truth, and that comes from the Word of God.

      @haroldmcbroom7807 4 роки тому +2

@@redstarfarms2778 I feel ya brother... My dad was a preacher, and I've been to church plenty of times, never got much from it, and it wasn't a call to the alter that lead me to Christ, I can assure you that. As I grew older, almost 50 now, come March, I hated the ideal that my emotions were being herded by the church to make me sad for a small moment, enough to go to the alter, but I found myself back in my old ways when I left the church.
I don't go to church. Some in my family do; I remember one of my sisters kids asked me, "Uncle Harold, why don't you go to church!"... What a question huh? My relationship is with Christ, not with the church. Not everyone who goes to church will see the kingdom of God, and not everyone who stays home will see eternal damnation. Where ever Christ is within YOU, that is where the True Church is. That's why I don't go to church.
A relationship with Christ is personal, not collective. I talk to God everyday, I tell Him how I feel about what's going on in the world, He knows my frustrations, but it's still a struggle with temptation, that fight will not end until we die, but for every temptation God provides a way out, I just have to look for it.
The only way to resist sin, and I learned this the hard way... is that we must love God enough to obey Him, more than the sins our flesh is attracted to, otherwise it's not possible to resist sin on our own strength.
I'm not associated with any particular doctrine, I just believe God's Word, and that's all He wants. He took care of everything on the cross, and all we have to do is accept it, and turn from those sins that lead to death.
I know the history of Christianity as per the worlds definition, but I can tell ya, friend, Jesus didn't die on the cross so that we could have one more "religion" out of the countless that we already have. He's not looking for religious people, in fact His Word says, that He prefers "obedience" over "sacrifice", for many who offer sacrifices are not in obedience to God's Word, hence they are just religious, while their hearts are far from God.
Only through LOVE, loving God, and one another, can we hope to finish the race God has set before us. LOVE is the fulfillment of God's Word.
Before bed tonight, friend, just whisper to God, "God, I love You, teach me more what love is, show me, so that I may love You more!" When we love God MORE, only then will we begin to see the problems in the world, but when we love the world more, God seems so far away the further away we get from His love.
What led me to Christ was His Word, remember the woman in the Bible who said, "Come! See the man who told me everything I ever did, could this be the Christ?", and it was the Word that showed me every sin in my life, the same Word that became flesh who showed that woman her sins. God's Word led me to Christ, and so I put my whole faith in God's Word alone, nothing else is necessary. I rely on the finished work of Christ upon the cross which is sufficient in the covering of my sins.

Knowing the church will not get you into God's Kingdom, but knowing God's Word will ensure that you will not be deserved by those churches preaching messages contrary to God's Word. The True Church is within us, not within a church that esteems it's own traditions over the Truth of God's Word. Jesus said narrow is the path that leads to eternal life, and few there are that will find it, so don't go following those organized religions most esteemed by men, who seek glory for themselves, flattering God with their lips, while their hearts are far from Him.

When a priest explains the "church" it makes perfect sense because it's supposed to ... when a protestant explains the "church" it is very personalized based on their own understanding which results in a whole lot of different logics.(IE just stop and think about how many branches of Protestantism there is)
I love hearing things laid out so effortlessly and traditionally and biblically true. And the only way that is possible is through the Universal Church founded and began by our Head and Lord Jesus Christ.

The Father and the Son are the Parents of the Holy Spirit, if many churches are correct. If many churches are correct, The Trinity is a Family-- two Parents and a Progeny, just like a human family.(Humans are created in the "image" and "likeness" of God according to Genesis 1:26) In the book of Job, which is part of the Bible, the Lord is compared to a father and also a mother with a womb "From whose womb comes the ice? Who gives birth to the frost from the heavens?"-Job 38:29. Because God can also be thought of like a mother (Isaiah 42:14, Isaiah 66:13, Matthew 23:37), all three roles (father, mother, progeny) in a basic human family are filled in the Trinity. Saying the Father and the Son are Parents of the Holy Spirit is simply another way of saying "the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son" which has been official Catholic doctrine for centuries. The Church teaches that the Son is begotten from the Father. If this is true, the Father is the Father (Parent)of the Son. The Church teaches that the Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son. If this is true, the Father and the Son are the Parents of the Holy Spirit. Of course, the scriptures are vague if the Holy Spirit is the 3rd or 2nd Person of the Trinity, whichever of these is true, the 1st and the 2nd may be the Parents of the 3rd. Parent definition 1 from Merriam-Webster dictionary: one that begets or brings forth offspring.

The problem is that by taking a historical occurrence and making a doctrine out of it allows one to interpret sacred texts without any boundaries. If we take the whole bible into consideration, the idea of setting up another Davidic kingdom becomes not something that god wanted to do but what rebellious Israel wanted to do. They wanted a king like the rest of the pegan nations had. God said you are going to regret this. The pope is therefore robbing titles that belong explicitly to God. Like Holy Father. I won’t get into the call no man father portion of scripture as a do agree with its premise but for the sake of arguement I will not make that case. It is the Holy with the con joining of father with it. That title belongs to our Heavenly Father. Remember, our Father who art in heaven, HALLOWED be thy name. Or vicar of Christ. What does vicar mean; it comes from the Latin vicarious, which can be translated in place of. This is the job of the Holy Spirit. He is Christ representative. What is interesting is that the Greek translation of vicarious Christi would antichristos or anti christ.
Much like the nonbelieving Jews in the time of Christ they were looking for some great leader to rule this world and over throw Rome the Church of Rome wants to somehow rule this world. And that’s fine. That’s why I said Jesus Christ’s kingdom is not of this world. You guys can have it. I would prefer the one where Christ is preparing a home for me.

I started saying the Rosary, on my way to work, for Lent. I have been saying it ever since; I can't stop. Today, Thursday, I woke up early and decided not to hit the snooze button but to say the Rosary and the Luminous mysteries instead of saying it in the car. "Great", I thought, " I will get it done and listen to music on my way to work today." I always have a little confusion with this Rosary as I never quite know what is meant by the "Proclamation of the Kingdom of God" and I always mean to look it up.
I get in my car and bring up UA-cam on my phone to listen to music and this video, you created, popped up as the very first offering of videos in the morning. I decided to listen to it. Normally, I probably would not have listened to it as I am busy saying the Rosary on my way to work.
I now know the meaning of the Mystery of the Proclamation of God. Coincidence? :)

@@kinevil007 A rosary decade begins with the Our Father and ends with the Glory Be, and hopefully you don't object to either. Then there is the Hail Mary in between. The first half of the Hail Mary is from Luke. The second half is a request for intercessory prayer (we're asking Mary to pray for us). St. Paul asks for intercessory prayers, too. So presumably that isn't the part that bothers you. Catholics believe all prayers are Triune. In other words, the only way Mary is even going to hear the prayer is if the Holy Trinity wills it. Hopefully you agree that the Holy Trinity has the power to make Mary or any saint hear our prayers. The only question then is whether the Holy Trinity wills to make that happen. We believe that is the case, and obviously you believe it isn't. Seems like a gamble on your part to mock others for believing something about the will of the Holy Trinity, especially when it conforms to beliefs that were evident in the early Church and thus likely passed down from apostles.

People don't wanna hear the truth because theu feel comfartable in their sects, their "churches", "congregations" etc. Some were raised there, made friends, some earn money from it etc. They put these things over the truth and they "study scriptures" not to learn the truth, but to try to refute the Catholic Church. It is so annoying

As a lifelong committed Protestant Christian I have recently started watching your videos and find them fascinating and informative and I have absolutely no doubt of your sincerity, learning, and salvation. And I hope I don’t come across as arrogant or condescending by saying that, because it’s not my intention. But when it comes to this video about the Pope, I’m still not convinced. I think that it is a stretch to say that because Jesus said those words to Peter, that we can infer that Peter’s successors are also divinely chosen as the head of the church. Equally, there have been some awful Popes in history (like Rodrigo Borgia: Alexander VI). There is no way that God ordained them to lead his church.

This "authority" of Peter is based on the authority of the gospel. Key - key to salvation, is the gospel, the apostles were equipped with the gospel. Whatever is bound, is bound by the rejection of the gospel, bound by unrepentance. The idea that the pope is inerrant was also rebuked in scripture, Galatians 2:11 "When Cephas came to Antioch, I opposed him to his face, because he stood condemned." Cephas is Simon Peter, the rock that Jesus built the church upon. How could he stand condemned if you guys hold the pope, the prime minister, to be inerrant?
This is why scripture is king, and only Jesus is our prime minister.

    • @QuisutDeusmpc
      @QuisutDeusmpc 3 роки тому

Notice that St. Paul uses THE VERY NAME that Jesus Christ gave to Simon on their very first meeting (cf. John 1: 39-42), to describe Peter's role as head of the Apostles. Whenever the LORD God called someone to be a unique covenant representative in salvation history He CHANGED THEIR NAME (cf. Genesis 17: 1-5, Abram to Abraham; Genesis 32: 23-33, Jacob to Israel). Every first century AD Jew knew this from hearing the sacred Scriptures read in synagogue and in the Temple in Jerusalem. Which is why it is so significant, that on their very first meeting Jesus Christ changes Simon, the son of John's name:
"Andrew, the brother of Simon Peter, was one of the two who heard John and followed Jesus. He first found his own brother Simon and told him, 'We have found the Messiah' (which is translated Anointed). Then he brought him to Jesus. Jesus looked at him and said, “You are Simon the son of John; YOU WILL BE CALLED CEPHAS' (which is translated Peter)." cf. John 1: 40-42
Jesus stepped out of eternity and into time, and out of infinity and onto earth as a first century AD Jew. He spoke Aramaic. 'Cephas' is the Aramaic word for 'rock'. Jesus is both RENAMING Simon (the way YHWH had renamed Abram / Abraham and Jacob / Israel) and PROPHESYING the Simon, the son of John WILL BE (future tense) called the 'rock' upon which Christ would build His Church (cf. Matthew 16: 18, 19).
St. Paul uses THAT VERY TITLE when referring to Peter, in spite of Peter's hypocrisy. He uses the name Jesus Christ gave to him out of respect for his office, while simultaneously calling him out for his sin. The very presence of the honorific title "Cephas" in Paul's account is evidence that disproves your interpretation of the significance of Paul's account of the public rebuke at Galatians 2.

"My Kingdom is not of this world" John 18:36 Isaiah 22 ends with the "peg in a firm place" giving way, breaking and falling off. I don't think that is a very good argument that the "peg in a firm place" represents the pope. Mike also gives an incorrect beginning to the kingdom of Israel. The first king was not David, but Saul. In Galatians 2 Paul certainly doesn't seem to look to Peter as a figure in authority over him, but rebukes him. In 1 Peter chapter 2 Peter refers to believers as living stones, but he never refers to himself as the foundation of the church. Instead Peter refers to Christ as the rock that becomes the cornerstone and the rock that makes them fall. That chapter also refers to believers as a royal priesthood, believers need not have a priest between themselves and the Father other than Jesus Christ. You can make the argument that Peter was instrumental in the development of the early Church in Jerusalem but there is no evidence that there was a position of pope created that would have successors.

      AMEN Bro!
      1. The Israelites demanded a king like other nations because they rejected GOD to be their king (1 Samuel 8). So David became king after Saul because Saul was disobedient.
      2. JESUS is the Rock that was being talked about. The greek words "petros" and "Petra" are different.
"And I tell you that you are Peter("petros"), and on this rock("Petra") I will build my church, and the gates of Hades will not overcome it." (Matt 16:18)
Petros: "a stone" or "a boulder," Peter, one of the twelve apostles.
4074 Pétros (a masculine noun) - properly, a stone (pebble), such as a small rock found along a pathway. 4074 /Pétros ("small stone") then stands in contrast to 4073 /pétra ("cliff, boulder," Abbott-Smith).
Petra: a (large mass of) rock
4073 pétra (a feminine noun) - "a mass of connected rock," which is distinct from 4074 (Pétros) which is "a detached stone or boulder" (A-S). 4073 (pétra) is a "solid or native rock, rising up through the earth" (Souter) - a huge mass of rock (a boulder), such as a projecting cliff.
4073 (petra) is "a projecting rock, cliff (feminine noun) . . . 4074 (petros, the masculine form) however is a stone . . . such as a man might throw" (S. Zodhiates, Dict).

Jesus did not ordain Peter as the head of a Papal order, but blessed him with Apostolic authority to further the work of the Kingdom of God on earth. Not once did Jesus refer to Peter as the “Pope” amongst His disciples, nor did Peter’s fellow Apostles. If Peter really was elevated to the Papacy, the entire Book of Acts would have revolved around him as the central figure, who would relegate the tasks of the Church. This never happened. Also, there is not a single explicit mention of Peter arriving in Rome in Scripture, let alone leading as the head of the Roman Church. Lastly, Jesus blessed all of His disciples to receive the God-given authority as saints of Christ:
“Verily I say unto you, Whatsoever ye shall bind on earth shall be bound in heaven: and whatsoever ye shall loose on earth shall be loosed in heaven.”
    - Matthew 18:18
Thus, Jesus’ statement was not addressed exclusively to Peter, but to the entire Church.

Just because the word "Pope" is not in the bible does not mean that the office is not there. Jesus changed Simon's name to Peter, gave him the keys, and gave him the authority to bind and loosen.
The writings of the early Church Fathers attest to Peter and Paul being in Rome.
