Second Abandoned Railroad Crossing with Gates Removed
Вставка
- Опубліковано 30 лип 2024
- This is the second Abandoned Railroad Crossing on the CSX Homestead Subdivision going South after Gold Coast RR museum which like the first, had the gates and signals removed recently. The last train to come by here was in 2016 to remove some rails cars from storage. This line was built in 1926 by Seaboard Air Line which then became Seaboard Coast Line , Seaboard Systems and finally CSX. It even connected at one point with the FEC tracks in Homestead that went to the Historic Overseas Railway in the Florida Keys and Key West. This line played a great role in the history of South Florida and its development.

No Sunday is complete without our railroad archeologist presenting another piece of history! Thank for sharing my friend! 🛤
I'm truly flattered, John. I really appreciate that. I wish l could shake your hand and invite you to a cold one! Thanks as always for the views and comments!
Sad sight but good video
Thanks MG
I love abandoned railroads but I am very sad to see all these abandoned railroad tracks. But when I see these abandoned railroad tracks it makes me think back to the good old days when the Amtrak F40'S were running.
I know what you mean, Anthony. Abandoned Railroads are magical, but at the same time kind of sad. I feel your pain : /
Thanks as always for the views and comments!
@@railrol82 Your very welcome.
Keeping history alive with your Sunday videos is a good thing. Otherwise, who would know that anything happened?
I appreciate the kind words, Charly. It is great to share my findings with like minded people who share passion for history and railroads. Thanks as always for the views and comments! Please keep 'em coming.
Wow that growth is getting crazy. Mother nature is wasting no time taking her land back. Like I've said its heart breaking but at least they left the tracks. Great video Roly! Hope you are doing well!
Blake, as the song says, you ain't seen nothing yet! In some places you'll see South of here, you can't even see the rails anymore as they are consumed by 10ft tall weeds. Best wishes. Thanks as always for the views and comments!
Omg, this poor crossing. After working hard all those years, they never gonna be reused. 😢
You said it my friend. That is hard to believe after all those years : / Thanks as always for the views and comments!
Nice coverage.. of abandoned railway line...
I appreciate it... That is my specialty! Thanks as always for the views and comments!
Good Morning Roly! This line should be made into a tourist line. It's a shame to see all this go to wadte
Good Afternoon Georgette, I agree about the tourist lane. Maybe even a passenger line to relieve the South FL traffic. But RR companies lack vision : /
Another great video of this abandoned trackage Roly. I read earlier today that they were (Florida) was thinking about running a bus line on some part of Florida's abandoned tracks. That would be cool. If not then what about what other states do and make it a jogging/bike path. I wouldn't go in that brush with shorts or long pants either, LOL ! Thanks for sharing your work. Take care :-))
It might be this one. That happened to the FEC tracks East of here. They ultimately because a bus way : /
I'm one to just let them go gracefully and leave them there for future use. Thanks as always for the views and comments, K!
All those dead chickens, yuck! Can't they just throw them in the trash and let the garbage truck take away the bad spirits? At least they don't stand on top of buildings naked while chanting their prayers. Lol! Great video Roly! I loved the mattress comment. Stay safe! Cheers, Danny
That's a very interesting point you bring up regarding the dead chickens and garbage trucks lol. Imagine if there was a place where as railfans we can just go lay track side and enjoy trains! Thanks as always for the views and comments, Danny! Hope all is well...
Thank you for an interesting video. Look forward to sundays edition.
I'm glad you enjoyed it, Edward. Thanks as always for your views and comments!
If I lived down there, I’d take them
You'd need a lot of equipment for that lol.
Another great video. Those sacrifices are really weird.
Unfortunately it is a very common thing in the Cuban culture, which is the top demographic in Miami, FL. Thanks as always for the views and comments!
Great video my friend!
All the best from Croatia :-)
Thanks as always for the views and comments, HZ!
I agree with your caution in not venturing into the overgrowth, Roly-given the flora and fauna in southern Florida, fire ants are the least of your hazards! But at least Mother Nature is trying to cover the tracks and preserve them in Her own way until the powers that be decide what to do with the line (rail trail or commuter service please!).
And call me weird, but the way the lights are turned up makes them look like drones that got spiked into place!
Dragon, l swear... as l was there analyzing the folded up lights, l thought it looked like an army of drones about to unleash fury! In the Everglades, filming an abandoned bridge l found there, l came within 2 feet of a Copperhead. You have to be alert at ALL times. Thanks as always for the views and comments!
Great to see the history thanks for the information
I'm glad you liked it, Alfonse. There's several more videos coming up on this line, some of which have 10 ft tall weeds consuming the rails. Thanks as always for the views and comments!
Nice video ROL82, so sad to see it go to waste.
Wait until you see the rest of the crossings on this line, this one looks "good" compared to them. I'm talking about 10 ft tall weeds taking over the track! Thanks as always for the views and comments!
Great video railrol hopefully they can re open the line for passengers train
I hope so, Alan! Thanks as always for the views and comments!
Good Sunday Morning Roly!!
Good Tuesday Afternoon, Railfan Network! Thanks as always for the views and comments!
I love your railfan comment about the mattress!! I actually LOL!! (It is very sad that people litter lime that). But O loved your comment!! Keep up the great work!!!
What a cool world it would be if we had a place where we could railfan while laying down on a comfy mattress! Thanks as always for the views and comments, Dan!
Awesome video stay safe out there it looks like hurricane Eta may be coming your way God bless there is definitely a lot of history there
We got a whole bunch of flooding and power outages in South FL. I'm all good though. Thanks for your concern!
@@railrol82 You're welcome it looks like eta is going to turn towards Florida again and then impact Jacksonville is a good thing that you are safe God definitely protected you I am sure a lot of people are ready for hurricane season end
Érdekes videó lett!😀 Egy újabb elhagyott vágány!😀 Nyomtam egy like!👍
Örülök, hogy tetszett. További videók érkeznek a vasút többi részén. Innen forgattam a végéig. Köszönöm, mint mindig
Már nagyon várom az új videókat!
great video but also so sad 👍😭
I know what you mean, Brian. I feel it when l go film at these locations. Thanks as always for the views and comments!
last night dream that I got on a fright train in the rail yard near my house to travel the funny thine about the dream is that rail yard has not seen a train in 25 years
That's an awesome dream. Sometimes l dream I'm there when they are building historic railroads. Thanks as always for the views and comments, Walter!
Use google maps go to Vernon ca and there is abounded train lines one of them still runs but some don’t. It’s cool. By the way I love your videos 🤩
I'm glad you like my videos my friend. Thanks as always for the views and comments!
@@railrol82 are you going to California? Check out Vernon with the smallest towns with Bnsf trains .and there was a wig wag 9 track crossing but I think I got removed. but thanks for your videos
Hey Roli is there any local railroad club thats has rail runnings that run abandon railroad clubs
It would be nice if tri rail or Brightline would put the tracks to use again.
The funny thing is that Tri Rail got rejected by CSX. Thanks as always for the views and comments, DC!
Nice Coverage

I wish you had lockpick to open relay case
I can get into serious trouble for that. Thanks as always for the views and comments!
I love trains
well at least they've left the
hardware, bring a machete
next year, what.was the paved
parking lot for? was there a
team dock or pax shelter at
one time?
That is a great question, Mel. I'm onto a lead (for a future video) but l have no definitive evidence yet. I think it might've been the site of an old Seaboard Storage Depot that Hurricane Andrew completely wiped off the face of the earth. I know that event happened, I just am not sure of the location as all l have to go on is one old picture : /
What do you think it was?
@@railrol82 best guest judging by the space between
the track and the patking lot,
some sort of a pax shelter,
orherwise there would have
been a spur or runaround
for a actual station/freight
house;-)
urban enroachment
@@melperry3576 Can you imagine what this location looked like in 1926?! Just swamps and mosquitoes!
@@railrol82 no wonder pax
service didn't survive ;-)
Nice
Thanks as always for the views and comments, Johnny!
Pretty soon the rails and signals will all be removed...I just know it
I'm guessing the rails will be there for a good while and then be a bus way. But your guess is as good as mine. Thanks as always for the views and comments, SF!
What's the correlation between these sacrfices and railroad tracks?
Those are sacrifices to certain saints in the Afro Cuban religion of Santeria, that are supposed to be discarded along the tracks so the train can take the bad spirits with it. Thanks as always for the views and comments!
Nice video! Looks very overgrown now. Have you ever come across any snakes while filming?
Yes, and I'll never forget it. I remember as l was filming a video titled "Abandoned Railroad Bridge in the Florida Everglades" l saw a Copperhead about 2 feet away from me as l was wearing flip flops. I haven't wore flip flops to film since. Thanks as always for the views and comments, RXRfan!
Dude... That's intense! I came across 3 coyotes when I was filming "abandoned railroad at MCAS el toro". They were far enough away thankfully. Stay safe out there.
Wow!! Yes, this is the sad part of this hobby, this crossing and line has a lot of potential, love the pavement crossing that’s old school with rubber next to the rails. Totally sad that it became a junk yard people dumping things and leaving the voodoo debris.
Your last sentence sums up Miami in a nutshell lol. Hope all is well, Robster. I'm posting the 3rd part of this series tomorrow morning. Thanks as always for the views and comments.
LOL! I am as well as I can be! I can’t wait to see the next one tomorrow. I can’t stand the used masks left, and recently up here in NY, used syringes, another pet peeve of mine. I cart gloves and dispose of the used masks and have sharps container too, with cooking tongs, I pick up the trash I find. Ya this is Miami and everywhere.
Is there any abandoned train tracks that Amtrak used to run on???
Not in Miami, they are still active. This particular track was used for passenger service by Seaboard from 1926-1929.
Then it became freight. Thanks as always for the views and comments!
@@railrol82 OK. Your welcome.
Shame no short line hasn't bought it to run local tour trains
The ironic thing is that CSX shot down Tri Rail's (a local commuter train) proposal for the line. Thanks as always for the views and comments, Carolina!
A dirty diaper with a dead rat **vomits in mouth** alrighty that was disgusting lol, but good video as always my friend.
If only l could video a smell so you guys can briefly know what l experienced. Best wishes. Thanks as always for the views and comments, C!
@@railrol82 I think I'll pass on taking a whiff lol, and your welcome.
Why are they removed
Since no trains are coming, CSX wants to use the gates in locations where they are needed. Thanks as always for your views and comments!
Soo dangerous.
It is abandoned. Thanks as always for the views and comments!
Hey Roli your a professional you have dress code when out in field
Aren't suppose to wear jeans with at least angle or knee high boots and possibly wearing cowboys chaps to protect you from native wildlife .
Local poisonous snakes 🐍 especially when your out about during your research
