- If your dodge grand caravan also has a coolant leak then check out this video which most likely will help you out since this issue is found on many dodge minivans and now rather to do recalls on these, they have come up with a kit:
Here's a response video to all of the questions on how to fix the rear Y connector:

Excellent repair and nice, clear videography! I will go out tomorrow and take a closer look at my leaky system. FIVE STARS!
Thanks a bunch! I just got a really good deal on a 2008 Caravan because of this issue, and to see that all it needs is this simple fix is really great!
Nice!! If this $15 fix helped you get it $1500 cheaper then I call that a good deal all day.
Thank You for such an easy to understand and informative video. I just completed this task on my 2010 Dodge Grand Caravan!!!!!!!
Glad this video helped you!
Go Albania! Clear and concise video! I didn't have to sit through some dummy talking for a half hour to see if the repair applies to my situation. I got the kit you recommended. A+ my friend. Great job and thank you!!!!!!!!!
Awesome! Thanks for watching!
Alot of vids I seen only show after they had fixed it. But u went step by step. In ur vid thanks for showing us ,makes it alot more easier. 💯💯💯💯💯💯👍👍👍👍👍
Glad you liked it, thank you!
Very helpful thank you my friend!!! My wife’s exploded on her grand caravan. I wasn’t sure what the piece was and your video helped me figure it out.
Thanks for the feedback!!
Thank you as well. The plastic Y just let go yesterday and wasn't sure if I needed the whole assembly (about $129..) I watched your video and will be fixing it tomorrow for $7.99..
😊
There you go, nice!!! 👍
Thank you. I used this video to fix mine DIY. I found the Y connector at NAPA for $15 Canadian. It was easy. At the same time I flushed my rad and heater core with rad cleaner and added fresh coolant. Good for another 7 years.
Nice job! I will need to do the same cleaning on my rad like you did 👍
Was headed to the junk yard to grab these parts right before i saw your video, thanks bro
Lol, perfect timing!
You are awesome, sir. This was exactly the issue in my case.
Thanks, great clear HD video. Awesome! Help me a lot, thank you again
Thanks Ken!
Faleminderit Shiqe. Thanks a lot for sharing and pls have more videos in general.I really enjoy watching your reapirs
Rrofsh shqipe! I will definitely make more! 🇦🇱 🇦🇱 🇦🇱
Was really hoping this was where my leak was from only to find it had already been replaced with one of these and was itself bone dry 😑
But great video very easy to follow!
He said it had 2 Y connectors did you check both
My 2009 dodge grand caravan has the same problem but its leaking from the other end of the hose can I change it at the other end. You did a really good job and its easy to follow
By other end, you mean where it connects to the engine block? If so, I would go ahead and do the same thing as shown here because the plastic Y connector has to be removed anyway.
Thanks brother. Didn't know where to look until I saw your video. Sure enough there was my leak. Life saver. 2013 Chrysler Towne and Country
Awesome, glad it solved your issue as well!
nice job ! on the repair and the video !
Thank you!
Fine outcome. But I would advise everyone who watches these videos, Not to cut the hose, but the 1-1/4" abs clamps. This would ensure you the proper size hose. In other words, cut the black plastic clamps carefully thru the middle, (I used dremel tool w/ cutting blade) without cutting into the hose material. Also, Never use those "Screw-type" clamps, use original pressure-adjusting clamps. Mechanics would know, that all these heat channeling hoses expand, and the clamp needs to expand with them. That's why this design.
Thanks a lot for your insight J P!
I have this problem on my 2010, going to see if this it the problem, hopefully this is it, changed the rad but still leaking. Thanks so much.
You’re welcome! Crossing fingers with you 🤞
Mine epically failed spraying everywhere. Great video.
Lol, like a broken sprinkler head… 🤣😂🤣😂
Yeah my daughter thought the vehicle was on fire since it sprayed all over the exhaust manifold 🤣 I'm about to go change it out in our 2008 Town and Country.
@@brandonporter7934 I don't blame her the way the smoke spreads out from underneath the hood, lol
Ah-ha no wonder I can not find on my '01, because it's not there! After reading the comments, I can stop feeling stupid now!
Thanks very nice video
Good luck on the repair 🙂

Thank you, but sadly things have taken a turn for the worse...or in other words, how in God's name did she drop what! into her radiator? My antifreeze Chester tester with the floating balls and the suction cup came apart and the plastic suction tube & collection reservoir fell into my radiator. I was left holding the red bulb in my hand.
Oh noo 😮😮😮😬😬😑😑
Excelente video 👍 👏 👌
Thank you!
Good afternoon, I would like to see another video in which you change the second connector, it would be very helpful.
Well, the second one cracked not too long after I fixed the first one and I didn’t film it thinking that people wouldn’t need it since they can go off this video. I’ll definitely make a video of it when I come across a second cracked Y pipe. Thanks.
@@AlbanianFix are those the same part?
@@drannex42 Yes. I used the same one for the back Y connector on another van and fit perfectly.
New video about the rear Y connector is up. Hopefully this helps:

Cool thanks 👍
Ty for d Video, U broke everything down easily. D "Albanian Way"👍
That helped. Thanks
Just did it and it took care of leak and restored the power back to normal as well. $17 home repair complete. Love not paying the pros to do it. Such satisfaction
Thank you so much 🥰🥰🥰.
You’re very welcome!
Thank you!
Your welcome!
I didn't know they made a aluminum metal y pipe. I replaced it for the 2nd time but this time with the aluminum metal. Now the other straight pipe is leaking a little and want to replace it. Do they make aluminum metal for that straight pipe. Not sure what it's called. I think it's called the engine heater hose ( The straight pipe hose) 🤔. Thank you for this Great video and you explain it well. I wouldn't know for the aluminum metal.
Check this one out for the rear hose:
ua-cam.com/video/G4thukiE9y8/v-deo.html
Thanks cool!
What would you call thay 2nd part that you say will leak eventually. My van just started to leak from there
I’m not 100% sure of the nomenclature but since the 1st Y pipe was for the coolant going out of the engine then I believe that the 2nd is a return Y pipe for the coolant to go back into radiator and do the whole cycle again.
Anyone here on UA-cam, please correct me if wrong. I would like to know for sure as well...
Thank you!!!!!
Thanks for watching!
Can u use the same y connector for the other hose behind, the one you said is got it be replace too? I just realized I have to replace the one behind, not the one in front, but I bought the part for the one in front
Yes, same one can be used 👍
Thanks bro i just replace it.....gracias amigo@@AlbanianFix
Hi. Thanks for sharing. How do you call that repair kit you buy.
I don’t even know that name of it. Online it’s called GRAND CARAVAN HVAC HEATER HOSE Y ALUMINUM METAL CONNECTOR REPAIR KIT.
There’s a link in the description of the video where you can find it as well.
Good video. Very helpful. You said something at the end where another will go out after. What was that? And I assume you replenish the coolant after you are done? Where is the location of this radiator hose for those of us that don't know?
Thank you! The other one is an exact replica of the one that I fixed. There are basically 2 identical Y connectors placed one after another.
Yes, the coolant was definitely replaced and topped off. You have a plastic coolant tank/reservoir attached directly to the radiator, right next to the fan.
@@AlbanianFix Thank You sir. Much appreciated. Trying to fix my mothers van. My father who knew all about everything passed away this year.
@@bluev3nom Sorry to hear. Keep the legacy going in fixing cars.

This video makes me want to fix my van looks easy but idk man!!!
It’s easy!!! Get the kit, they sell it everywhere and go in there, just follow the video…
I replaced both wyes and all the hoses on mine with after market parts ($144). In retrospect there is a goofy plastic snap connector on one of them that I should have eliminated since it could likely become a leak point also. Imo these snap in hose connectors and other plastics seem to serve only one purpose which is to speed assembly at the factory, lower costs and leave quality as the least of the manufacturer's concerns.
I should add that both wyes were thankfully metal!!
That’s very true. Nowadays parts are all made out of plastic and shocks me to find them even in the hottest places of the engine and no one even cared to think to have those at least made out of metal.
@@AlbanianFix i believe crappy products are produced on purpose
@@Fido-vm9zi Lol, yeah 😂
So my 2008 Dodge grand caravan in leaking on the back one. You was showing how to fix the front one. Does the front and back take that exact same part? And do you suggest that since I have to fix the back one...to fix the front one too? I'm going to be moving to Washington State in April, and driving 2,400 miles. I would like to avoid breakdowns.
Yes it’s the exact same part where you don’t need to use the extra piece of hose it comes in the kit. And yes, I would do both before going on that big trip.
@@AlbanianFix Thank you...
What year is this van? My 2007 grand caravan doeesnt even have these parts
No, 2007 and below have a different build. This one is a 2008 and I believe all the way up to 2015 are the same.
Does anyone know what the other straight hose pipe called? And if they make aluminum metal one for that one as well..
It’s a Y pipe as well and you use the same repair kit.
I don't remember the original y fitting being identified, as to its function. I am pretty sure it is the coolant supply, or return, engine block, or cylinder head water jacket to both heater cores, front and back, because it is a Y fitting.
Thanks for the clarification!
Hey, at the end of your video, you show the other connector and say if it leaks just "repeat the process". However, that connector is different. The dealership said I need a $350+ assembly to replace that! At 5:55 into your video you point to it. My question is, my leak is coming from the bottom of connector under the Y connector. It has a hose clap in the middle of it. Can I bypass that or am I screwed? I hope you see this soon and thanks in advance.
What a perfect timing… Please keep that thought… in the next days I have someone with a grand caravan (same guy in this video) come over to my garage with this issue. He says the rear Y connector is leaking. Not sure if it’s leaking at the exact same spot as yours but will try to make a video if he lets me.
@@AlbanianFix that would be awesome! Please try to!!
New video about the rear Y connector is up. Hopefully this helps:

Do I need to flush liquid before cutting the hose ?
You can if want to, it wouldn’t hurt. I just added and topped off at the end.
Thanks for the very helpful video. The local parts store told me this was strictly a dealer repair. So I tried some JB Weld, but I didn't drain the coolant, so I think there was some fluid under the JB Weld, so it held for a while, but began to leak again. Today I drained all coolant, removed the old JB Weld, filed the surface a wee bit and then let it dry on this warm summer day for several hours before applying a new bit of the JB Weld. If this fails I am glad to have seen you video, and just want to know where to get that part.
Hmm... JBWeld 🤔 🤔 interesting... let me know how it holds up so I can try it myself on my second Y pipe whenever it fails.
@@AlbanianFix Removing the old JB Weld appears to have caused a greater leak. I still think the first attempt would have done better if the system had been drained. But now we know. P.S. I found your link to the part
What year model is that van?
This one is a 2008.
That's the kit I bought but it isn't for my 4.0. It was only $8 bucks so I didn't bother to return it. I have 3/4" hoses and the kit is for 5/8". It's only 1/8" difference...I wonder if I can still use the aluminum "Y" tube anyway 🤔
I think you should be fine to use the kit if it's only that much difference.
Let us know how it went so others can read this.
@@AlbanianFix OK. I will.
@@AlbanianFix Update: I finally cut the factory heat crimp clamps off of the tube and found out the hose is really 5/8". It had a 'cushion' of rubber around the actual Y tube and under the heat clamp that made it look like it was 3/4". I was able to save that cushion and will be using it again on the new tube and hose. I hope my explanation is clear and helps someone. My van has close to 300k miles and I am realizing that the maintenance on everything has been done before like spark plug tubes, both valve covers replaced, but not the Y tube. Since it is time to replace the valve covers again I decided to just go ahead and replace the Y tube. My parents bought it used in 2013 and gave it to me in 2018. It's a 2008.
Is this part in a 06 dodge grand caravan?
No it’s different. Only 2008 and up...
Does anyone know where I can get more of the tension clamps? Not the screw on ones. Thanks
Amazon or eBay have tons of it
@@AlbanianFix thanks. I don't know WHY I didn't think of those 2 sites 🙄
And how remove old hose. I buy a plastic Y especial tool or what
Hey chalano1985, do you mean what tool I used to cut the rubber hose? If so, I just used something sharp like a razor nothing special.
We're can I get the part?
In the description
Would this cause a coolant smell
Yes definitely!
Found that these are carried at all AutoZones, most walmarts, and other stores. Dorman Hose 47238HP Aluminum Heater Hose Repair. Buy some coolant while you're there.
My Caravan has a leak in the hose/connector that's right behind this one !!! It goes straight up and down and not sure if it's somehow tied into this connector ???
Is your caravan older than 2008?
@Smitty67 Yes, that's a second Y connector that handles the return of the hot coolant. This connector will break just as easy as the one showed in the video.
Please allow for a couple of days and I will make a video on how to fix that one as well. It's been on my To-Do list forever.
@Smitty67 The leak is so insignificant at the time of inspection it's almost impossible to see it. One way to catch it, is to apply pressure in the lines as if the car is running. For this, you might wanna try a pressure tool kit or a coolant leak finder. I have another video where I show this kit in action.

Do I drain the coolant before changing this whole heater hose assembly
You can if you’d like to. I didn’t and just topped it off after this work. There was not a lot spilled.
@@AlbanianFix any advice on pulling the 2 hoses that connect to the frame of the van? I couldn’t do it tonight, I’m gonna try again tomorrow after work. I used the clamp tool to loosen the clamp but the hose is stuck tight.
@@whitefx2 I'm trying to think what you mean by "frame of the van". Do you mean the heater core by the firewall?
You don't need to replace all of that, only the Y connector unless you have a different kind of leak.
@@AlbanianFix yes the fire wall , I decided to replace all the hoses while at it. Any advice on removing hose from firewall.
@@whitefx2 Never done it on this car but did it a while back on an old bmw and the hose connector at the firewall had a clip that you could pry upwards to release its "teeth" that was holding to the metal pipe on the firewall.
Oh so true same thing on my wife's car going to have to do that myself.
Yeah, already replaced the second one, it started leaking too...
@@AlbanianFix well thanks for the pointers anyways. Wound up being the back one kind of hard to get to. Got the parts at AutoZone for under 30 bucks.at the 2012 which has this quick connector what a pain replace that to.
I found a coolant leak from a heater hose under the van going to the rear heater core.
Nice job 👍 This will help others to find it as well
what is the part name?
It’s called a Y Connector.
I included the part in the description if you need it.
What year model is that?
This one is a 2008. And the same can be done from 2008 models all the way up to, I believe, 2020.
@@AlbanianFix did you ever replace the other y split?
@@christianjohnson6519 Yes, the owner of this same car didn't have time for me so I did quick video showing what happened. Link is in the description.
My 05 looks different. It doesn't have a V at that connection.
This is only for 2008 and up
Alright that's on what about the other one?
Same exact process brother, except that you don’t need that short hose/tube that it comes with in the repair kit since there are already all the way to Y connection.
My car is leaking from the lower gasket of the block 😓😓
Oh no, hopefully it’s just a head gasket. You’ll need to remove the head of the engine block, replace the gasket and inspect and hope there are no cracks on the block itself inside the piston walls and outside the perimeter of the engine block. If there’s a crack - If it’s inside the piston walls then it’s too late to save the engine unless you’re willing to spend a lot more money than it’s worth it. If it’s outside the block then you can still save it with some welding.
If there are no cracks at all, good. Check the head for any warps and make sure the head’s surface touching the engine block’s surface, so basically both surfaces need to be as straight as possible or the new head gasket will leak again.
I have water dripping on my catalytic converter
Here is one for ya..2010 dodge grand caravan v6. Lose coolant. But no leak show on floor, doesn't burn.and nothing in oil..but coolant leaves..I am stumped
Well, sounds exactly like the issues with this dodge caravan in the video.
Looks like you'll need to do a pressure test to see where the leak's happening.
On another grand caravan I had, it was leaking around the pump and have heard that it's also a very common issue with these types of cars and years built.
I think the othere one just blue on me
