On this episode of LivinRvision, we decided to go to Kelderman Manufacturing in Oskaloosa, Iowa to find out How Kelderman Air Suspensions Are Made and How It Works on a Grech RV Camper Van. Grech RV installs the Kelderman Air Ride Suspension on all their Class B luxury camper van motorhomes on the Mercedes chassis. Today we’re meeting with Jeff Kelderman, the Vice President of Kelderman Manufacturing and he's going to take us under our Grech RV Strada-Ion and explain in details how the system works and why it differs from other similar brands.
Not only did I learn more about the Kelderman Air suspension on our Grech RV Strada-Ion, but also a lot of knowledge of all the different products this manufacturing company builds. The size of this facility and the high tech equipment they use was very impressive and the whole experience helped give even more confidence of the quality and longevity of the Kelderman Air Suspension on our Strada-Ion as well as other parts they manufacture.
Jeff also shares a little treat in this video, which is an RV his father built from a Peterbilt semi and a fifth wheel turned around backwards. Jeff has quite a story to share about this custom RV that he is so proud of.

Very interesting video Brian. From 1989 to 2004 I worked for a company that sold and installed Kelderman air ride suspension systems. So I can see they have come a long way since then. As a metal fabricator of 47 years, I can really appreciate new technology. The quality of workmanship is great. Thanks again for making this video.

Great Video thank you. One this I'm curious about is what on average are your monthly operating and maintenance cost for the RV. I have a good feel for what my payment will be on this RV but would really appreciate it if you could do a video on this to help me budget for this van. 🙏
We did a video about 3 years ago of what “our” total costs were for the entire year. What our costs are now would not be helpful since we are only testing the Strada-ion and do not have a payment. You’ll find this discussed in many of our previous videos. Everyone’s expenses can greatly differ depending on how they travel, what they do for entertainment and other costs like eating out etc. But again, our total costs video should help give you an idea. 👍🏻😊🤓

I have a 2017 3500 sprinter van that I’m interested in putting air ride system, would you say this substantially make a big difference on ride when hitting fine to bigger road bumps on the road a smoother ride.. ? Great vid!!
Since the van came this way new from Grech RV, we didn’t drive a Sprinter without the air suspension before driving this. We have heard it makes a difference though.

I would like to know what it costs for an upgrade at Kelderman for a sprinter 3500XD. Looks like it is $5600 on the website. I wonder how much more is install and sway bar?
Great question. Kelderman does not install them on the Grech models, Grech does just like other companies do the same. If someone is interested in Kelderman doing the install on their own Mercedes, they would need to contact Kelderman Manufacturing directly by phone or through their website for a quote.

I can’t believe how poor the MB suspension is from the factory
You have to remember that Mercedes doesn’t build them for the purpose of an RV with top heavy weight, that companies like Airstream, Coachman and Grech RV build these units out with cabinets up high and then their customers load them up. So each company has there own engineers that design what they believe is needed to make for a better ride and safer experience for the consumer. 👍🏻😊
Waste of money. The originals are fine.
For someone that has tested both over a long period of time, we can tell you with all certainty that the Kelderman system has been better.
