    I have the 5-6" lifted version of this Kelderman lift for 2 years now, 50k miles. Even going down oilfield lease roads often the lift has held up great. Still smooth as the day I put it on the truck. I don't think I will have another truck without it.

      This is EXACTLY why I'm looking at air ride for my F250. Lease roads are the worst. I really don't want to lift mine I just want the best ride I can get.
      How is the ride with air vs a normal lift kit vs stock?

    • @texastea77
      @texastea77 10 місяців тому +1

      @@Tyorktexan the ride of the Kelderman is way better than both stock and the normal lifts. Offroad there is a noticeable difference and on the road the same. My wife even noticed a difference between the stock ride and the Kelderman so that tells you something. It is great for long trips and hauling since the truck doesn’t beat you like normal. I didn’t want too much of a lift but needed it to run the larger tires. The only downside of the lift is not being able to haul with my gooseneck trailer.

    Also, best thing I have done was ditching the 19.5's. I'm running Alcoas on AF adapters with the beads machined for LT 22" tires. Nitto Ridge grapplers in a 295 are basically a 35 x 12 and they have more capacity than the GAWR for either end of the truck by a large margin but ride so, so nice. Truck doesn't make a mess in a wet yard anymore either.

    Man I got 06 f350 cab and chassis. The leaf spring pack is thicker than a pickup f450 I'm sure. I drove it about an hour across town when I bought it bare chassis and it was a back breaker. I need to build a flatbed for it, bit I definitely want to do a full linked air bag system. I've driven a 2010 f450 pickup, unloaded it wasn't nearly as bad as my current truck. So I'm glad to hear the bags make a big difference, that's what I'm looking for👍

    You probably know this and maybe you were just in the process of swapping out those heims, but that jam nut seen in the video on the track bar needs to be tightened up to the tube to keep the heim joint shank threads from beating back and forth on the ID threads of the track bar until it pulls the threads and the rear axle walks out from under that truck.
    I am on the fence about this kit myself for a 2020 450 and just don't know if the chucking and bucking from the trailer is from the truck or the trailer. I wish someone close to me had one of these that I could just drop the trailer and replace the truck with one of these and get a back to back to show me how much of the problem is truck and how much is trailer. Headrest just hits you in the back of the head over and over with any real amount of tongue weight on the truck.
    Since the rear is on 2 circuits, is the leak in the dump or what? Have you tried to track it down yet, and did it always leak down overnight or only after a while did it start?
    Thanks for the video. Best demonstration of one of these setups I have seen.

      Truck is going into the shop in a week or so to fix the air leak and track bar. The Heim joint has been tightened. Thanks for seeing that. It’s a gamble. Our 2022 rides better than my 2017 does empty. It did help with bucking. Our gooseneck trailer has air ride as well and no bucking. Good luck and glad the video was helpful.

    Thanks for posting this very informative video. I am planning to buy a F350 SRW 8ft Bed, Crew Cab to carry a slide in camper for long term travel. Will be loaded pretty well up to allowable max payload. Vehicle will travel on paved and unpaved roads, and some medium difficult offroad.. no rock crawling !!. Truck will be kept stock apart from tires and potentially this air ride system. Do you think the full Kelderman system will benefit the ride and load carrying ability for this application, particularly off road travel ?...also can the system be used to level the rig when camped on sloping ground...to get better sleep !!. Any options you may have would be greatly appreciated.

    • @truckingforboatparts5838
      @truckingforboatparts5838  2 роки тому +1

      With most slide in campers the truck will squat, this system has an auto leveling computer so it will stay at stock ride height even with a full load in the bed. Also, With the computer display, you can control all four corners independently. For example, when I hookup my boat, I back up to it, drop the rear bags and the truck will squat say 6 inches or so, I will back under the trailer and reinflate the bags. No hard cranking of the jack at all. So if you pull into a campsite and you’re leaning left or right, facing downhill or up hill, you can deflate or inflate to some extent to level it out.

    I have a 22' f450 on order. I read that you have one too and have just installed the kelderman system on it now. What is you impression of the 2022 f450 (loaded and unloaded) in stock vs bagged configuration? Do they still require removing the spare tire to mount the compressor? Any reason to go with the 3H air lift controller over the mechanical self leveler they offer?

    • @truckingforboatparts5838
      @truckingforboatparts5838  2 роки тому +1

      Unloaded the 22 isn’t as harsh as my 17. My hotshot driver (my 60yr old mom) could tolerate the 22. Loaded is where it really shines. No squat. Rides well. They moved the spare tire on both but I have been told others don’t mount the system that way so I’m not sure how yours does it. I like the simplicity of the mechanical leveler but it’s nice to see how much pressure is in your tanks and on each bag. I’m not sure if you can add the 3H later if you don’t like the mechanical. I would think you could. Air dryer is a must.

If you did so, have you noticed a difference in ride quality? I 'm curious if this expensive upgrade is really worth it? Does it add longevity to truck? In other words because of smoothing out ride, does the frame and other parts last longer?

    I scanned the comments and may have missed it, but one concern I have that an online forum was discussing is being vigilant about draining water from the kelderman system especially in colder areas of the country where you have to worry about freezing and the havoc it can cause. Thoughts on this? Is that a legit concern? I was wanting the kelderman for ride quality, but I live in Wyoming and one of my primary uses for the truck would be hauling snowmobiles in the bitter cold

    • @Demonoid1990
      @Demonoid1990 Рік тому +2

      I'm an OTR semi driver and so long as these air systems on trucks have a good air dryer, there isn't much to worry about. On our newer freightliners with the company I don't have to worry about draining the tanks unless the air dryer goes bad. I've only ever had issues with the dryer system or the compressor itself, which either on is pretty rare.
      Whyoming is a pretty dry state as well, not a tremendous amount of humidity in the air. Last time I had an compressor issue was picking up a load of lumber during a heavy rain system in Tacoma, WA. I then left outta there and headed west toward Ohio. When I got into Whyoming around Laramie, temperatures were around -25 at the time and my compressor had gotten excess moisture in it, which caused it to freeze and malfunction. Stopped in at a shop, and all they had to do was defrost it and evacuate the moisture. After that I was good to go. That was about 3 years ago now, haven't had an issue since, and been in 3 different trucks since then.
      As a precaution if your going from an extremely moist environment like the Northwest or Southeast, you can purge the system, empty the tanks to see if there is any moisture. Then proceed across the colder high elevation areas. Be it Kelderman, Hendrickson, SAF Holland, Meritor, these air systems for trucks are pretty bullet proof these days and only pose problems if they get damaged or aren't inspected periodically for issues. Doesn't matter what system you go with, everything wears out eventually and in different ways, and will need serviced from time to time.
      As for a pickup vs a semi, with the pickup you'll still have hydraulic brakes. Typically a air system freeze up isn't so much an issue for air suspension as it is for air brakes. Having ice build up in the air system with air brakes can pose far worse issues than with the suspension.
      Other than that it just comes down to common sense, routine inspections, and annual maintenance as needed.

    Obv you can adjust ride height with this system but how would this match up to running air bags in the rear? Would this help towing ? Typically tow around 10-15k lbs so would just air bags be good to level out my 22’ f350? Thing squats pretty hard when loaded. Thx nice rig

    • @truckingforboatparts5838

      Thanks. with the auto leveling system and on board compressors the truck won’t squat with a load on. I pull my 22k lb boat with a lot of tongue weight and it sits level.
