Knuckles' Chaotix is one of the few Sonic games that doesn't feature Sonic himself. The story differs between the English and Japanese versions of the instruction manual that came with the game, but they both involve Dr. Robotnik trapping Knuckles' friends on a special island. Knuckles must now save his friends and discover the mystery behind the island. The gameplay is similar to that of earlier Sonic games, with the added gimmick of being bound to a partner with an elastic tether, giving the game its reputation for wonky rubber band physics. After each stage, the next level and your next partner are selected via roulette.

We finally got the best ending version of this game on TAS. Felt like a decade has passed since the first TAS of this game.

Those special stages give me the impression that just because you _can_ put 3D effects in your game doesn't mean you _should_
Reminds me of the levels in the Run series, a cool math game classic I played back in grade school.
A lot of this game is just designed around flexing what the 32x was capable of rather than making a cohesive game around it, it's honestly one of its biggest flaws because it feels more like a tech demo than an actual Sonic game because of how unrealized a lot of its concepts are
@@dragon666777 And it has that Sonic CD problem of none of the levels having real themes, just being abstract shapes and colors. And how the level flow is constantly interrupted with ejections.
@@dragon666777 I suppose it runs into the Star Fox Zero problem of being too reliant on technological gimmicks

I'll admit, this game is a guilty pleasure of mine. This TAS really did this game justice!

Man, this game's music is awesome.
The score skipping glitch is hilarious. I love how it always gets 100 points into cancelling out the negative score and then just ends the tally.
The game is like "Wait, you're an idiot. Move on!"

I found a lot of enjoyment from the ring mechanic once I understood how to manipulate its tech to the fullest. That being said, you can just _feel_ how undercooked this game is. Love it, but the experience is an acquired taste.

They could've released this on the Saturn with some enhancements, i mean, there was something here that could've kept some Sonic fans happy on the Saturn years.
well at one point chaotix was being developed for the saturn but all the prototypes for it have been sadly lost

Love the special stages in this one but holy crap does this one make them stressful to watch
After what they had accomplished with Sonic 3 they should have been ashamed releasing this. It is a tangible drop in quality across the board. COOOOL!
What it needs is a "Deluxe" version that fixes all of the original's flaws!

As someone who has just learned about this game, I can say for certain that I am really, really confused
May be not the best Classic Sonic game, but it's not bad either (even tho it has that weird & annoying ring mechanic)

I guess this game just got nixed? The only time this game released was in 1995 and it hasn’t returned for almost 30 years.
God this game is so weird. I simply cannot understand the thought process behind this and someone saying "Yes, people will LOVE this idea!". It just feels so rushed and unpolished (understandably so knowing the 32X) which is shocking for their main IP.
I mean, I think sonic games have been a little all over the place in general, not all that consistent in my opinion.

Oh god this is how I imagine playing sonic on mushrooms would be like.
While I do think this game is way better then most give it credit for, though it does take some getting use to. The "Best Ending" is a dumb disappointment at best.
So, why is nobody talking about how he BARELY beat special stages 3 & 4?
