I do love a jolly Christmas song. The Lord of Misrule (or the Abbot of Unreason in Scotland) was the head of the revelries in some Medieval Christmas celebrations. They would turn the world upside down for a few days. Servants became masters and would blow off a bit of steam. Hopefully everything was forgiven or forgotten with the onset of the collective hangover.
I'm a huge tull fan, and have always appreciated the work of Mark/Soft Cell. A wonderful combination, and one i certainly wouldn't have expected.
His voice just deepens and softens as years go by - his lyrics are the ones that are getting sharper. If world leaders would be smart enough to listen this, this would sting.
Why do I think this song is going to be strangely prophetic?

This is a great track with Marc. Very enjoyable.
Ian Anderson of Jethro Tull also appeared on some tracks recorded by Men Without Hats (Ivan Doroschuk) -- "On Tuesday," from the LP "Pop Goes The World."
If you click on the Italian progressive rock band PFM with Ian Anderson's name -- you will see live performances with that incredible band and Ian Anderson. It's almost like watching Jethro Tull play with King Crimson. (PFM once recorded for Manticore Records -- with Emerson, Lake & Palmer). They are that good.
In the '70s PFM packed in 250,000 people in Central Park, NYC in the afternoon. The media doesn't play that up much because it taints the Simon & Garfunkle concert. But their live LP "Cook" came from that live free show and I was there. Police had to be called in because of the number of people who assembled. It made the rock stations' news broadcasts & was incredible. PFM (Premiata Forneria Marconi) sometimes sings in English. Ian Anderson doesn't play with just anyone.
