That comes in handy for you. 🤠
Have the same exact one. I never operate from the lever side. Can't reach the engine shutoff from that side. I keep everything else you're doing the same as you.
My father-in-law built his own rack on his splitter. He built his not to be a holding rack, but rather to catch the split pieces, so he didn’t have to bend over to pick them up and put them in the trailer to go to the rack. Also his was built so it’s on both sides of the wedge, and he set it up so he can add to it if he wanted to. It’s drop in racks not bolted or welded in place.
My new splitter has that and I love it.
I love watching your firewood videos.
Thank you for watching
I made the mistake of buying the 4 way wedge from tsc- it sucks . think ill take it back and get the catch table.
I've not heard good things about that 4 way.
Add a second rack on the opposite side, you will love it.
Thanks for the videos, I’m a new subscriber. I too cut and split firewood and I need a new splitter. Mine just died and I’ve decided on the CL 25 Ton, so I appreciate your reviews and demonstrations of it.
Keep up the good work!
Thanks for subscribing! As soon as I add on to my wood rack next week, I'll be posting more firewood videos with the splitter. It's split anything I've asked of it, has excellent reviews and a relatively quick cycle time. Not to mention you can catch it on sale often. I think it's a good purchase for a homeowner.
I also cut, split and stack wood for the winter.
Suggestion: don't know if it will work for you but why don't you try positioning the splitter in the area where you are stacking so you can take the wood off the splitter and stack it. Reduces having to pick it off the ground.
If you watch my current videos that's exactly what I do.
I use an empty wooden cable spool as a table next to it to stage pieces.
Not a bad idea, sometimes I load my tractor bucket and keep it lifted beside the log splitter.
Thanks for the advice on the 4 way wedge. I am still studying on what splitter I want to get. I am also looking for one on my budget. Right now it is a maul. LOL
Understand, been there done that for many years. It will definitely keep you young. 😃
Try using a log cather on both sides. I use the exact same splitter with two log catchers, extra work platform.
Is this the countyline rack or some other brand?
County line rack offered for this unit.
I put a rack on both sides to help with big pieces too. I am going to add on to the rack over the engine to protect it.
Yeah those racks aren't designed to be a feed. Its just there to catch the piece from falling on the ground.
1st off very nice video! I got a 25 T countyline and put a 2x4 designed to slide in the 4-way split work well but of course what im splitting...thx for your video
I looked at the 4 way splitter attachment from tractor supply but was concerned with its build quality and reviews. Is this the one you have, or is it an aftermarket one?
@@TKCL I can grab a log and send you a video
@@joewachowicz7231 you don't have to go through all that trouble. I was just curious if you have the tractor supply 4 way or a different brand
@@TKCL its coming first ash next elm
To me the rake would be for splitting big logs and keeping the one side of it from falling off. Just my thoughts.
And that's how most people use it I'm sure. I split big logs in the vertical position to save my back. Easier to roll a big round than to pick it up.
being a carpenter I took a piece of plywood and cut a 2x6 into flanges od beam yo hold plywood up....when I split a 8 ''' or so log ,after 1 split I turn the 2 halves and split again ergo 2 strokes 4 logs saves some time
Best modification to my 22 ton county line is I extended the wedge two inches taller.
Wedge should be symmetrical about the rod centerline, otherwise it puts a bending moment on the rod and wears the sleeve beating in the gland nut. Probably last an incredibly long time though.
The rack was not intended to store your rounds on, but to store the piece you just split.
I understand that, but it is nice to have several rounds available. Most commercial splitters have extra room on the rack just for staging extra wood. I do understand this is a smaller residential unit, it's nice to not have to stop after every piece to bend over for another. It does hold several small rounds and still allow a recently split piece to have somewhere to fall over. I have several videos on the channel showing that.
It looks to me, that it is designed for catching the other half of you log when splitting.
It is, but it's still small for even that task. I find myself having to put pieces of wood on the ground when splitting larger pieces because the rack fills up easily with the other half of a large split. I'll be building another rack soon.
I made a larger table to fit over mine, (removable) it just slides over the smaller table (steel mesh, & angle iron), also the bigger table protects the engine better.
It's been on my mind to do something similar myself. I've been lucky that nothing has fell off the table and hit the engine. I'd still like to have more room for split wood,, but I'm managing OK.
I have a 22 ton county line and put log catcher on both sides!
I like having it open on one side to get close to the work. Just wish the catch rack was a little bigger.
I used to work at a big stone company in my early days and we had a Jeffery impact crusher that had 24 57lb hammers in it to crush the stone.we welded 2lb of hard surface rod on the top and sides of the hammers to make them last longer you need to weld hard surface rod on the edge of your ram wereit chiped and grind it at a sharp edge that will cure your problem. I'm a certified welder I know what I'm talking about. Good luck!
I've been really considering that, but it hasn't chipped anymore in a long time.
I sincerely don't believe that minor chip will affect it's splitting capability.
I don't either, but it does have me concerned it might continue to happen.
This is the rack you need www.runnings.com/log-cradle-large-black-diamond-17590150.html
I have this splitter, its a stout machine. I also haven't found a log it won't split * * * * 1/2 stars
It's split everything I've asked it to, been really enjoying it
Its design is to catch the off piece. Not at a staggering area
I understand that, but it's nice to have a few pieces waiting so you can stay at the work area longer.
$49??????? I payed $79 for the same one...
That was a couple of years ago
If you got an extended warranty through tractor supply they will replace that wedge no questions asked had the same thing happen to me. They have always stood behind their warranty!
Glad to hear that, however I didn't get the extended warranty. Something to keep in mind for next time.
Stack those halves on top of each, and split them again. The splitter will do it and save you some time.
I've started doing that after others have recommended it. On the smaller pieces it works out great!
Either way those splitters dont get the respect they deserve they are well built and will split any large diameter log if it wont take it down the middle split it around the edges
I have not found anything it won't split yet and doubt I will. Live oak is the only wood around here that slows it down, luckily I don't split a lot of it. I think it's going to serve me well.
I think you missunderstood how to use it , its not a magazine to hold wood to be split , but rather after you split a round it will hold 1/2 of the log and you can split both 1/2's without putting wood on the ground!!!!!!
Works better this way for those with a really bad back.
Grind down an old file and weld onto the wedge. It will never dull
That's a great tip!
Files are brittle. It would chip worse than the edge that’s on it. If it don’t basically explode on you.
Look around on Amazon. Take some measurements from your wedge, most of the dimensions are on the 4 way wedges.
I did look on Amazon but not by the dimensions, I'll take some measurements.
Why not try standing the bolts on end rather than laying them flat? Seems like that would get you a little more room .
I'll have to watch the video back later, I'm not sure what bolts you are referring to for more room.
Bolts are the 16" blocks os tree youve bucked up. They are aller in diameter than they are long. Just stand them up on the table rather than laying them down. Should work for smaller logs for sure.
Smaller in diameter. Sorry.
Oh I understand now, good point
How many PSI is that pump rated?
I'm not sure, never see the specs on it
