I'm 72 yrs old ..I remember this war.
And the whole world should watch this. Still happens everywhere in the world.
Doloros is keening '“Keening is a form of vocal lament associated with mourning that is traditional in Ireland, Scotland, and other cultures. In some cultures it is customary for women to wail or keen at funerals.” with that style which even makes this song more amazing.. and why your eyes are pissing tears hearing it
It's a protest song, they made it after 2 boys were killed by bombs that the IRA set in my home town
A Masterpiece.
That is called Keening the style of singing from the Irish. Sound of wailing pain. Johnathin Ball 3yrs old was killed while they were touring in the UK from 2 bombs in litter bins. On a busy shopping area. (side note* I believe U2 made the song "Sunday Bloody Sunday" about it as well? It was said the street was a river of blood) ......anyway, Delorus being IRISH since the IRA claimed responsibility wanted to express her sorrow n explain she was not condoning it at all. hense the words...."Its NOT me. Its not my family" that was to blame in other words. And decided to make this protest song. May she R.I.P.
They offered her 1 million dollars not to release the song. She ovously declined 😊
RIP Dolorius…
My parents would turn on the tv for the nightly news and the reports would include that a British soldier killed a protester in Northern Ireland with a rubber bullet. The troubles in Ireland is not just about independence it has a religious component. (Protestant vs Catholic)
Yeah it's to do with Ireland wanting Independance from the UK, with the whole 1916 rising, after the Brits colonised Ireland for like 8 or 900 years and then it started back up again in the late 1960s/early 70s until like 1998 called The Troubles/Northern Ireland Conflict, then they brought in an agreement between both Irish and British governments in 1998 to end the longterm violence there, I could be wrong, But this song was written in protest to the Warrington Bombings by the IRA in March 1993, so Dolores O'Riordan (the lead singer from The Cranberries who died in January 2018) wrote the song against it.
They have other songs standing up against things like Free To Decide, Time Is Ticking Out, Salvation, Promises, Fee Fi Fo, Icicle Melts, so many different types of concepts, then there's songs like Dreams and Linger, When You're Gone, Animal Instinct, Ridiculous Thoughts, Just My Imagination, You And Me, Analyse, Stars, Never Grow Old, Tomorrow, so many.
Thank you for a clear explanation. I had to go back and do research on this too
The I.R.A is the “Irish Republican Army” this song was in response ir in tribute to 2 young boys that were killed from a bomb placed in I believe a garbage can. Very sad.
That is aweful!
Sadly there are no winners In war😢
@@ImFrancis325the IRA also shot at British police and military personnel as well as targeted civilians
@ImFrancis325 the period is called "The Troubles" it wasn't great. This particular bombing was the "Warrington Bombing" if you want to read up on it.
The reason British soldiers are in the video is balance out 800 years of oppression. These British soldiers used children as human shields during operations. Creating more support for the IRA which I creased the bombing.
you should watch the official music video with the complete instrumental at the end
I will check it out
You don't want to know lol, we're just off our heads here lol
New subscriber. Love ya already brother
Master piece No1 in 26 countries!
Her voice/vocal style is called Keening
Two many stoppages!
The Scottish call it keening in America we call it yodeling
Now you should listen to the cover by Bad Wolves
Dolores has an astouding voice. Great reaction. You should check out the group Pentatonix for more outstanding singers
Francis, thanks for the reaction, yes you are correct about the song. Francis, I think you paused wayyyyyyyy too much, maybe two or three times but not every 10 seconds, just a tip. Thanks again Francis, love from Ireland
I wouldlove for russian people to hear this song
I'd love the Isreali people to hear this.
rip delores - teach those angels how to sing
In my opinion, this song can easily be transferred to today (Ukraine war, war in the Middle East and elsewhere). The same theme
Except in recent conflicts it isn't both sides acting a fool.
Who's the fighting going on in Belgium between Northern Ireland against South highland Indiana the bombing killed two little boys
Why do most of the greatest n most memorable songs r derived from some kind of pain?
I really tried to enjoy this review, but with you interrupting every 30 seconds, it became frustrating and I just gave up about 3 minutes in.
too many pauses dude
watch the music video itself instead of the reaction then
saw it a hunner times.@@iaminsideyourhome69
Pausing WAY too much. Frustrating
