  • The fifth-generation of the Hyundai Santa Fe gets a complete overhaul, the bold new design gives this midsized SUV a more modern, upscale appearance. The 2024 Santa Fe looks more muscular, flaunts a striking interior, and the third-row seat is now standard along with two turbocharged four-cylinder engines, one of which is also a hybrid.

    A Defender and G-Wagon had a baby and made it a cyberpunk futuristic boxy SUV.. I actually like it! I appreciate a bold and unusual approach in Hyundai's design language. It's a freaking riot, and im all here for it! They prove that mainstream cars don't have to be bland and boring. Reliability is a hit or miss. I currently own a Hyundai now that has been very reliable to me. 7 years strong and still under warranty. Overall, I think the new Santa Fe will attract new bred of buyers for the brand.

    Actual buyers aren't deterred, really don't care about vanity/ aesthetics past initial impressions as long as it delivers in features and smarts on the INSIDE.
    I circled away from the Genesis gv60 many, many times gravitating to the gv70 and gv80 before deciding the gv60 INTERIORS were far superior for me.

    Hyundai have executed a brilliant design resulting in a very practical SUV. They did NOT follow the typical American design rule of “ form over function”. For example, the column mounted shift lever and lack of climate controls and air ducts in the center floor console results in an enormous amount of storage space! The air vents for the second row passengers are located in the B-pillars. In addition to the traditional glove box, they have included a storage shelf and another hidden storage space in the passenger side IP.
    I only wish they would have made the 3rd row seat an option since I have no use for it.
    Hoping CR tests the hybrid model since I believe that will be the one to get!

    Problem is, HMG is not equipping the car trims with appropriate INTERIOR features recently . - XRT trim should have come included with the 360 SURROUND CAMERA. - Calligraphy trim appears to have omitted the right front passenger seat controls facing the driver / center console - this is standard in every other region. C'mon Hyundai 😡

    • @techpappee

  • @cle_roknn3742
    @cle_roknn3742 Місяць тому

    The design is divisive. Some will like it, some will hate it. It’s not that bad in the XRT trim. Some have mentioned past issues with the engines and transmissions. My wife has a 2015 Sonata wirh 140,000 miles on it. It did have its engine replaced under warranty, it took some time but Hyundai stood by the warranty and replaced it no cost. Other than a few other minor issues (wear on the seat leather) it’s performed rather well considering it was an “economy” level vehicle. We are selling it to my nephew, and yes, we bought a Santa Fe to replace it. For what you get the price is reasonable and the warranty is the best in the business.

    I get it but we chose to get a 23' Calligraphy because we liked the more modern / German-Japanese styling better.That was just our preference. New one is still a good vehicle though..but the 3rd row doesn't make much sense given the palisade or just get a minivan. Plus adds weight and a bit less fuel economy than respective 23' models.

    • @josie_the_valkyrie

    Why didn't they just use a conventional automatic? Who wants a dual-clutch trans in an SUV?

    • @mark8684
      @mark8684 2 місяці тому +6

      A dual clutch trans does have some advantages; it has faster, crisper shifts, better performance and facilitates better fuel economy than a torque converter trans with the same number of gears, all else being equal.

      in theory DCT is far superior to conventional transmission. In practice, the majority of DCTs out there are flawed.
      Many manufacturers learned it hard way and are reverting back to conventional. H/KMG unfortunately joined DCT club late and will learn why everyone else left the club.

    And "Hyun" is one syllable.
    At least you didn't say "High" + "un" + "die". That is just awful.
    Here in central Seoul, the new Santa Fe is all over the place. And people love it. Of course!
    But it is basically criminal to buy any model except the top one, with all the trimmings!
    Don't make that mistake if you are getting one: Get the top one!

    I can’t believe how blind consumed reports has become!
    Recently a very good friend just sold their 2018 Hyundai Santa Fe sport.
    The paint had left the hood then after repairs it was worth less than 40% of its original bargain 2018 price!!
    Every 3-4 years Hyundai reinvented the design theme so there is no continuity whatsoever, forcing resale values to crater!
    Don’t forget the abysmal reliability that causes the resale prices the crater even farther.
    It takes more than a long-term test drive to thoroughly evaluate a car!
    Hyundai and Kia make low priced junk.

Ask any mechanic and they will tell you that these engines are so poorly made that they tend to internally grenade at around 70K. Buy the Highlander and you we'll see it on the road for the next 20 years at least but if you buy a 2024 Santa Fe I guarantee you it will be sitting at a bite here pay here lot in 3.
