    One of my favorite little details is just before the King Boo boss fight after you briefly save Mario. Mario jumps over huge gaps and wall kicks up to the top of the castle in seconds while Luigi has to cautiously makes his way up. It does a great job highlighting the difference between the brothers personalities with zero dialogue. It's only a short section but manages to be probably my favorite moment in the game. Almost makes me wish they had some post game Bonus missions where you get to Ghost hunt as Mario with his moveset.

    • @frosted_glaceon5513
      @frosted_glaceon5513 2 роки тому +6

      Wow. This just made me realize how much I want Mario to join his brother on the next ghost hunt. I can imagine Mario charging ahead while Luigi calls after him, shivering, and quietly opening doors along the hallway as he approaches the main hall-something like that. It could be great from a gameplay and puzzle perspective too, getting Mario to perform actions to solve puzzles together. I know this is Luigi's mansion, but I kinda want to see the brothers ghost hunt together.

      Agreed. Luigi's Mansion 3 is a great game. Such a big improvement over Dark Moon. Granted I wouldn't say Dark Moon is a bad game, it's fine for what it is, but I say Dark Moon is easily the worst of the three Luigi's Mansion games. The mission based structure that Dark Moon was going for really ruined the pacing of that game & I'm really happy to see 3 completely ditches that structure & instead went for a more level based structure this time, which I think works WAY better than the mission structure from Dark Moon, considering it's closer to the structure of the first Luigi's Mansion game.

      @@ultrairrelevantnobody1862 I disagree I think LM1 has aged pretty well. Granted it's not perfect. It does have its flaws, like the gameplay can get pretty repetitive at times & the puzzles being stupidly easy, but other then that I still think it's a fun game that anyone can play & I still think LM1 has the best gameplay structure of the three Luigi's Mansion games. It doesn't have a mission based structure that ruins the pacing of the game like in Dark Moon nor does it have any few filler moments like in Luigi's Mansion 3. I still stand by on what I said about Dark Moon being the worst of the Luigi's Mansion games, even I still think it's a good game for what it is.

    • @ultrairrelevantnobody1862
      @ultrairrelevantnobody1862 5 років тому +1

      "the gameplay can get pretty repetitive at times"
      At times? The game goes like this. Go through a hallway, enter a doorway, solve a puzzle that isn't really a puzzle, suck the portrait ghost up, rinse and reppeat. The same goes for sucking up normal ghosts. There are a few decent puzzles and even several challenging portrait ghosts but this is incredibly rare.
      I don't mind repetitive gameplay if the mechanics themselves are good. Now I haven't played 3 yet but I have played a bit of 2 a while back and it made going back to the first game a little hard due to the mechanics feeling unrefined and lacking some needed polish. Catching a ghost on your torch light is inconsistent and sucking them up feels noticeably wonky. Also, considering that's all you really do in the game, the game starts getting really monotonous.
      "I still think LM1 has the best gameplay structure of the three Luigi's Mansion games."
      This is something I have to address. LM1 is arguably just as linear as the second game (nearly debatably). The only time you would ever want to explore is to get all the gold as well as all of the boos although you need 45 so you are forced to explore a bit. Aside from that, the structure is very linear to the point where it might as well be mission based. The second game had a mission structure for a reason, it was designed to be played in small doses since it's portable. Now like I said, I've only played a bit of 2 a while back so I can't really comment much on the pros and cons of the mission structure. But I really do not see the first game as this big open mansion you can explore aside from having to suck up the annoying as hell boos.
      There's also the lackluster boss fights which don't add much (and the third one is really badly designed) as well as the ridiculously short length which made me question why it took me so long to beat it as a kid.
      Final take on Luigi's Mansion 1. I like the game fine enough despite how critical I've been. It's a great introduction to scary games for children and so are the sequels. There's certainly a charm to the game but the gameplay issues prevent me from seeing what all the fuss is about. Very nostalgic game but I've seen better Nintendo games.

    I thought the final boss was great, I didn't like the first Luigi's Mansion final boss BECAUSE it was Bowser. We already fight Bowser so much in the Mario series and they made King Boo as a new character specifically for Luigi's Mansion so seeing Bowser again felt kinda lazy to me, like they couldn't come up with anything so they were just like "eh just fight Bowser". I don't feel we need to have a twist final boss for the sake of it as long as the fight is good. Still this is a great video and everything else was spot on with how I felt about the game compared to the previous two.

    • @retrogamelover2012
      @retrogamelover2012 2 роки тому

      Well, either that, or basically a combination of the two in a sense.
      Honestly, I figured they could try the muitiple building structure from 2 again, but with a more natural flow compared to the mission structure. And I figured that, wkgh that in mind, they could go with a sort of Silent Hill/Lovecraft type approach, where E Gadd invited Mario, Lugi and his friends to help renovate an abandoned town, only to realize that it was abandoned because it had some ancient evil locked away below, that King Boo was planning to release.
      And, after dealing with some supernatural anomalies, as well as potentially having Luigi's friends get their bodies hijacked by spirits, and therefore, you have to fight them similarly to Veran in Oracle of Ages, of hitting the ghost, without damaging the body, you get to where King Boo is, who releases the entity, only to realize his mistake, when the entity turns out to not be interested in any bargaining, and basically KOs King Boo, with the entity being the final boss, which after defeating, then leads to King Boo getting sucked up in like a cutscene or whatever, afterwards.

    i dont think the king boo final fight was as unsurprising for you as for me. i felt it made a pretty good conection with the previous boss fight and floor! through out the 15th floor you go through Helen Gravely´s penthouse looking through all the paintings and decoration and it paints a pretty clear picture that it snot that she just admires King Boo but that she kinda has deep feelings for him (she keeps king boo shaped pillows on her bed fer chrissake). and shes constantly infuriated by her staffs inability to stop Luigi because it means shes failing the one she so admires. Shes putting so much on the line, her hotel, her staff, her precious pet, all to get the admiration of her idol so he can see her the same way she sees him.
    but after conquering all she could throw at you and reaching the roof of so many dangers, we confront King Boo, where he shows what he thinks of all Gravely has done for him... and he really doesnt give a shit. Hes just annoyed that she coudlnt do the thing he wanted. like he never cared about her, just capturing Luigi and gang. He just doesnt care about her at all, just using her resources. he even goes as far as making the portrait gigantic in order to capture Luigi, eventually causing the entire hotel to collapse (you have to admit, that part of the fight was pretty cool). he would level the whole hotel to catch Luigi. King Boo is a fuggin jerk and im happy you catch him.

    I'm really glad a game with a bit of that DNA is doing really well commercially and critically, especially after being told they don't sell well. Then genre simply needed a new coat of paint and I think Luigi's Mansion 3 is an example of how that can work.

    This game helped me realize that Mario 64, Luigi's Mansion, Sunshine, Dark Moon, and Odyssey all take place in one specific continuity. The reason why Luigi isn't playable in those Mario titles is because, in this continuity, Luigi has none of Mario's moves. We see that clearly when Mario parkours up the building while Luigi watches hopelessly.
    That combined with the obvious stuff like Egadd's technology being in Sunshine, of course.

    Can't wait to play this game with my friend at his house.

      Lonely Whale eh it’s kinda valid but at least LM3 is a step in the right direction

      @@ihatestairs9034 people don't seem to get that this game is more interested in making its own magic, over trying to recapture the magic of something from 20 year's ago
      That approach didn't work with Yoshi that's for sure

      @@lonelywhale1548 I'd say I realize that its doing it's own thing. It's just I PERSONALLY want more of the original. I love when horror media doesn't feel like it's pulling it's punches despite being made for kids. (Billy and Mandy, Haunting Hour, Goosebumps, Invader Zim, Villanous, etc). So seeing the ghosts go from actually malicious and antagonistic in the first game, to....basically Minions in this game, for example, was quite the blow.
      But yeah, I agree lots of the original LM fans are getting way too strung out over a kids game. It's _frustrating_ after two sequels I still don't have a game to fill that spot in my heart that the first game did. But if other people are happy, and it's makin Nintendo money, that's cool. It's still better than fucking Dark Moon was.
      The only thing I WILL get strung out about for this game is.....yeah it's too bright. And there's already lights on? I thought the whole lore was that light scares ghosts away. So your flashlight surprises them to catch them? But in the lobby for instance, the flashlight is barely brighter than the ambient lighting?

      @@SakoresDark Yeah the original had a special place in people hearts, and I'm fully ok with people liking the original the most. That game had a strange magic, that I don't think any Luigi mansion will every recapture.
      But when you get to the level of someone like the bit block, that's where I draw the line.

    This game has so much personality, and I think it's a great way for me to be introduced to the Luigi's Mansion series.

    I’m still wondering what’s more terrifying, Chainsaw Luigi in this game, or Sniper Luigi in the Rabbids crossover game
