I see you had great weather on your sail to Lunenburg. We had our port home as Lunenburg for several years. Enjoyed seeing the old place after a 30 year absence. It helps to have a portable GPS when making shore excursions.
Yeah no joke. Love the fog, hate the lost in the fog Polar Seal. So glad y’all finally got back to the waters of life. That puppy Barni is so adorable. Have fun and talk up the locals for the commentary that goes with the land you cannot lay eyes on. Must make a return trip at some point I guess. Love yous guys. Glad to see yas.

AS a Scotian this fog is a pretty on par for the course! That said it's neat to think about Lunenburg as a destination that people would aspire to arrive in for 3 years! It's always been smol and touristy, but being something of a local I have never seen it the way you are haha

The fog... if you wait for ti to lift, you'll never go very far in all Atlantic Canada ! This is quite dangerous a weather, but you get used to it after some time, as you learn how to navigate in it ! Good luck and all the best for the rest of the adventure ! :)

I just got back from sailing from Maine to Halifax. Stopped in Shelburne Lunenburg then Halifax had a great trip. Plenty of fog. Hope you enjoyed it as much as I did.

Lunenberg… just make sure yourself. It’s a historic port for us as the origin of the Bluenose which graces our dime (10 cent coin)

I don’t know exactly when you get this trip but I raced from Marblehead to Halifax in July and out of the 70 hours it took us to get to Halifax 60 of them were in complete fog. And a whale bumped us in the gulf of Maine.

On finding your boat in the foggy harbor: you had the AIS on, yes? That plus VesselFinder (or similar) should make it trivial? Really appreciate the example of how the RM Quantum 2 helps in foggy weather. We are at the daysailing/chartering phase and contemplating a first boat. Your examples help us figure what we need!
I know about that mast you saw floating. It has quite a story behind it. Coworkers of mine at the MBL recovered it and were able to track down the owner. See the article in the reply below.
Even with almost no equipment, I was glad to have handheld gps to find boat in dark night.
😆 finding your boat while drunk not easy . I’m glad they had a designated driver.
