    I'm sure you've already figured this out, but the springs are designed to be stacked. Ie; 5psi spring + 7psi spring will get you approx 12psi. Stack them all in there and youll get around 18psi. It just gives the user flexibility in setting their target boost.

    • @Jakelfin
      @Jakelfin 6 років тому

      I tried them stacked and got it right.

    Great video. Just something to take into consideration though, the wastegate will also open sooner depending on the amount of backpressure you have. As an example, my 5.8lb spring opens at around 4lbs on the vehicle because I have an undersized turbo and the backpressure forces it open earlier. Whereas if I had an appropriately sized turbo it wouldnt open till around 6psi. Bottom line is most of the time it wont act the same on the vehicle that it does off the vehicle with a test rig like this. 😉

    I have the same one 👍🏻
    Tho I used the brass washers on the banjo fittings one at the top and bottom the block off screws just screwed in .
    Thanks for the vid I tested mine and no leaks and popped off at 6 open at 7
    I'm just gonna add a boost controller for easy measure 👍🏻

    For some reason I think there is something wrong with this firing seat ring, The firing seat ring shouldn’t move at all the valve is the one should be doing all the motion.

    • @keithcannon3682
      @keithcannon3682 3 роки тому +1

      That is not correct. I have run Tial and the seat moves because it heat and cool cycles thousands of times. If it was welded and did not move it would probably crack. I believe the Tial seat is actually a different metal. On the VS racing it looks like stainless steel. I would bet that the Tial seat would work in the VS racing part. Other parts are interchangeable.

  • @Jakelfin

    Springs should be stacked so you get right pressures.

    • @keithcannon3682
      @keithcannon3682 3 роки тому

      Technically you can not stack the springs. The way they are sized the one sits inside the other and so on from small to large.
      You can also run a small spring then run pressure above and below the valve (top and bottom ports) using a pair of boost solenoids along with the correct boost controller and it is thw beat way to control boost.
      At this point I would never run a manual boost controller and springs. That is archaic. Technology has surpassed this old methodology.

    Is it normal for the fire ring to move in when the valve opens? (see 6:20 for example...) Thank you

    Howzit man I've got a question I've got this same gates I've put in the 2 bigger springs but when i pupe it up on the low boost port it only produces 0.5bar /7psi should I directly pipe it on the top side rather meaning on spring pressure it will boost 14psi and if I open the regulator to the top side I'll reach 28psi

      Tim Web Yes very good. Im very happy with it. The diaphragm is still in great working order. Just took apart the other day to replace with a smaller spring and a new 4 port and all is well. Note: make sure the the 3 alan screws holding the valve to the diaphragm are tight when you buy and you’re good to go. Good luck

    I thought that the smaller spring was the highest psi! Now for what I see is that the widest spring is 6psi, the intermediate in width is the 7psi and the smallest in diameter and height is the 4psi. Can anybody correct me?

      Vinny Cambiano I run the small spring and the big spring together in my friends bmw and we get 10psi on the bottom of the gate only. We run the medium spring with a tee to the top and bottom ports of the gate to get 12psi.
