Zelensky has been instrumental in this US operation against Russia due to his performative background. I mean think of all the other Ukrainian officials who participated in diplomatic affairs or PR events. All of them are coming out as uncouth, impolite brats who would not be able to get anyone’s sympathy. Zelensky put a human face on a cruel apparatus led by paramilitary goons.
But he is spread too thin now and as the whole project Ukraine unravels his final use will be the one of a martyr. In that way the biggest thorn in the modern Ukrainian cause, Bandera, can be replaced as patron saint by Zelensky without dragging along WWII baggage anymore.
It is a good off-ramp for the US in the fact that they KNOW they've lost the battle, period. End of story .
